“Relaxing honeymoon”
Reviewed 5 December 2011

My husband and I spent 6 nights at Cap Maison for our honeymoon this November, and we would return if we went back to St. Lucia. We had a suite with a roof terrace and pool and I would definitely recommend it if you can afford it. The suite was tremendous, with a powder room, spacious full kitchen, large living and dining area with balcony, large air-conditioned master bedroom with a balcony and a large, luxurious master bathroom. The roof terrace was also very large with a nice plunge pool, loungers, a mini-fridge for drinks and a beautiful view. The beach is lush and private, though be warned that the steps are steep to get there and there is no bathroom at the beach. We ate most of our meals at the resort and we were never disappointed. We were prepared to spend a lot on food and drink based on other reviews, but I actually found the prices to be quite reasonable for a resort of this nature. (Why go to a bar when you could open the $5 Piton beer in your fridge....on par with what we'd pay for a beer out at home in the city?) Housekeeping was friendly and very thorough and left small water bottles on our nightstand each evening, which we appreciated since it was very humid. We did find the "scene" at the resort to be pretty quiet; it was not unusual for us to be the only people having a drink at the bar before or after dinner. I had a nice massage one day, though I thought it slightly overpriced for a small spa with few extra amenities. In any event, we would certainly return, though we'd consider splitting our trip at another resort that is closer to Souferie attractions and the airport (the ride was about 1.5-2 hours). Oh, and bring your bug spray as we discovered that the mosquitos are generally quite active in St. Lucia.

We were lucky enough to have one of the superb villa suites with roof-top terrace and pool - this was just about the best hotel accommodation we've ever had, good enough to live in on a permanent basis! We really needed family or friends to come and share the suite's extensive facilities with us. The gardens were beautifully tended and the whole property was extremely well maintained.

The location, on a small cliff, gave stunning views, from Pigeon Point and Smugglers Cove round to the private villas on the higher parts of Cap Estate - we could even see the twinkling lights of Martinique at night. The little beach beside the hotel was a gem, with great swimming, snorkelling and a lovely beach bar with a couple of sunny chaps serving whatever you wanted.

The restaurant was excellent, so much so that we had dinner there 5 evenings in a row - the chef was a little shy, but certainly had no need to be! Staff throughout Cap Maison were smart and friendly. A minority of the staff, however, were a little below the standard hoped for.

Overall, a wonderful experience and break from the English winter.

My husband and I recently stayed for one week in Cap Maison. It was our first holiday without the children (teenagers) and we had a wonderful time. Pick-up and drive to the hotel was enjoyable. Champagne reception on arrival, made us feel really wecome. Our room was an ocean view villa with roof top terrace and pool. The accomidation was so spacious, with 1.5 bathrooms, large sitting//TV/dining area opening onto veranda, fully equipped kitchen, with american fridge dipensing filtered water and ice. The bedroom again was extremely spacious with very a comfortable bed, opening onto another veranda, en-suite bathroom providing all necessities, including robes, flip flops and very decent toiletries. Having the roof top terrace enabled us to enjoy spectacular sunsets every evening with our pre ordered sunset cocktails. The grounds around Cap Maison are extremly well kept and a delight for bird watchers. We took a kayak out from the beach bar and had real giggle, the beach is small and peaceful. We had breakfast every morning and five diners at the Cliff Restaurant, the setting is stunning and the food couldn’t be faulted, top marks to the chef. All the staff were so polite and courteous, nothing was too much trouble. Ross the GM was always friendly and made time to talk, offering good advice on trips that we were interested in. All in all a holiday to be remembered, it was just perfect.

We stayed here for a 5 nights in October 2011.

First off, the accommodaton was excellent and far better than the website suggests. Our 2-bedroomed villa had several terraced areas (complete with comfortable chairs and loungers) as well as its own pretty kidney-shaped pool and little private garden, full of hummingbirds. We could see the ocean from our main terrace.

The interior of the accomoodation is extremely spacious and well appointed: an excellent kitchen, living room and two dining tables plus 2.5 bathrooms. The master bedroom and bathroom was excellent; the second bedroom/ bathroom is smaller but fine for kids. My only other comment is that the interior of the main living room is dark, as the windows are covered by louvres and there is no glass in these windows. We were concerned about letting biting insects in so kept the louvres and doors shut which was a pity as the view out of the living room French doors onto the main terrace was stunning.

Service was helpful and courteous (a very visible GM as well - top marks for that!) and we relaxed here as soon as we arrived.

The position of the restaurant is also wonderful, overlooking the sparkling Caribbean sea.

My only other gripe about Cap Maison would be that dining choices are limited to the one restaurant. The food is perfectly OK (for any "foodies" it is not as good as some other reviews might suggest however) but we would have liked another dining option on property. Unfortunately the resort is too small to accommodate this. It was lovely not to go out some evenings and simply stroll over to the restaurant but we were forced out on other evenings simply to have a change of scene (there are a range of restaurants within a short cab ride though).

Snorkelling from the small and secluded beach was excellent by the way - we saw loads of fish and octopus straight off the beach.

I would highly recommend Cap Maison for anyone wanting to relax in St Lucia for a few days and like other reviewers here TAKE THE HELICOPTER - the roads are a nightmare!

PS: I have marked down the sleep quality score which might be unfair but the whistling frogs (though a delight) do whistle from dusk 'til dawn and did wake us all up regularly. It added to the Caribbean charm on one level but for anyone exhausted and wanting a very quiet sleep they should be warned!

My wife and I got married early this past April and had booked a combination package with stays at Cap Maison and Ladera (also posting a review for them) The first few nights were at Ladera and then we travelled up to Cap Maison.
The drive up was a bit longer than we expected, but most of the roads are very narrow, windy, and through the various towns along the coast. Some of the views were spectacular and we did stop a few times for pictures.
Upon arriving, the resort itself is beautiful. It's clearly well maintained and all of the staff we met were very friendly and accomodating.
We were taken up to our room, and were completely blow away. It was HUGE. (we live in manahattan so most places we get away too seem big but this was impressive) Large kitchen, dining room and living room and balcony that overlooked the pool and the ocean where we enjoyed breakfast every morning and a glass of wine or champagne in the evening. Very nice.
Then the second level was a private rooftop terrace with plunge pool - again with amazing views. We were completely blown away by the accomodations.
Then there was the food. Wow. We had dinner every night at the main restaurant as we were on an all inclusive plan. Amazing food. We happened to be staying while they had guest chef Beau MacMillan (from a few different Food Network shows) in for a night but that hardly mattered. Every meal we had was amazing. The restaurant staff was also extrememly pleasant and accomodating - as the first night we didn't realize we needed a reservation and had to wait less than 15 minutes for a table to open and them to seat us.
The only negative came when on one of the nights, there was a wedding at the resort and the reception location happened to be in a building right next to ours and the noise was a bit much going late into the night, but I realize that was more of a one off happening.
We've recommended this resort to many other people who have mentioned they were going to St. Lucia and definitely plan on going back.

The hotel arranged for us to be picked up at the airpot as the hotel is around a 50 min drive away so it's definately worth getting a bigger vehicle. Another couple told us they took a helicopter to the airport in Castries, if you can afford it, do it on your arrival!

The hotel was a beautiful sight once the car pulled into the drive with a lovely fountain and well kept gardens. Where were immedailtely made to feel welcome by the big smiles and a lovely crisp cool glass of bubbly. Check in was very effcient and swift and the receptionist showed us around our villa and gave us brief overview of what the hotel had to offer.

The Villia was spectacular. The downstairs consisted of a huge living room complete with sofas, dining table, flat screen tv and a kitchen with everything you would ever need and a guest toilet and showerroom. The Villa also had an ample veranda with very stylish and comfortable garden furntiure.

Going up the stairs led to the bedroom and this really was the jaw dropper of the villa. The bathroom was spacious with double sinks, a separate toilet and huge walk in shower, it was spottlessly clean and full of the colours of St Lucia. The toiletries in the bathroom were plush Aqua de Palma and replaced every day!

The bedroom was equiped with a huge flat screen tv, stereo (inc. ipod dock) and the biggest most dreamy four poster bed. Again the bedrrom was exceptionally clean and the was maintained throughout our stay. The bed linen was always clean and luxourios.

The roof terrace that comes with the villa was very spacious and came with privacy form the other room. The view looking out over the beach and see was simply paradise, one could easy spent many hours relaxing on the comfy terrace chairs listing to the crasing of the waves while sipping a rum punch ordered from the Cap bar.

If you are early risers, it's worth getting the breakfast included as it is delicious. The staff are very friendly too. Dining in the restaurant is very expensive though, as are the drinks. So it's worth picking up a couple of bottles from the airport or even stopping by at the supermarket in town and stocking up on mixers and snacks. We dined here on our first night and it was the Taster Menu, it was nice but expensive.

There is a beautiful beach but it is very small but offers free watersports for guests, beds, towels and a small bar. Be warned though, it is a steep walk down lots of stairs.

There is a nice honesty bar near the reception and it offers free internet access, tv, board games and relaxation area.

There are 2 swimming pools but we only used the main one near the bar. We went out of season so there were lots of beds available and it wasnt very crowded. The view from the pool is lovely and overlooks the sea and some mountains.

We didnt do any day trips but were told they were excellent, so be sure to book them on your first day.

The local taxi firm has some great cars available, so if it's a special night, enquire what they have available, cost is not bad either.

It's a $12 taxi ride into Rodney Bay, this is where all the restuarants, bars and shops are. Look up reviews on Big Chef (Thee BEST steak house EVER - We dined here 3 out of 7 nights) and Razmataz (Really lovely, down to earth, authentic Indian restaurant - 2 out of 7 nights).

We also visited Groslet Town on Friday night for the weekly street party - It is definately worth going to this, it is so much fun, the music is excellent and the street vendors offer lots of lovely local street food. It's also a great oppotunity to get any gifts for family and friends.

Room Tip: For honeymooners its worth paying extra for a villa suite overlooking the cove, but the jacuzzi is n...

Thank you very much for your reveiw and we are delighted that you enjoyed your honeymoon spent with us at Cap Maison and the beautiful island that is St Lucia

In comparative terms we are not and do not aspire to be an "expensive" restaurant. Providing quality fresh ingriedents within the islands is never an inexpensive option although I would mention that our daily changing menu "Simlpy du Jour" is US$45 for two courses and US$55 for three courses ( per person)

We look forward to welcoming you back to Cap Maison at some point in the future

Kind Regards

Ross

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights in February 2011 and we loved every minute of it. After discovering that flights to St. Lucia were the one of the least expensive in the Caribbean, we decided we could splurge a little on the hotel. We were picked up at the airport and it does take awhile to get to the hotel (2 hours), and you go through some very windy roads, so its not great for people that get carsick easily. Anyway, after we arrived, the staff checked us in and we were upgraded to a junior suite with a private plunge pool. The villa was beautiful and spacious. The bed was very comfy and the bedroom is kept air conditioned, so its very pleasant contrast from the living area, where there is no A/C. We spent a lot of time on our private balcony, overlooking the ocean while we read or napped. The plunge pool was nice to have, but it was actually quite chilly so I didn't go in but my husband enjoyed it after laying in the hot sun.

We only went to Cap Maison's private beach while we were there and did not venture out to any other beaches - because we felt no need. The beach was private, not crowded at all and there were plenty of beach chairs available. The bar was fully stocked and you had plenty of water activities right at your fingertips.

The restaurant is good, but nothing special. We ate there for breakfast every day, lunch a few times and dinner a few times. It was mostly out of convenience and laziness, so if you are feeling motivated and adventurous, I would try to eat out at the local restaurants.

I would note is that we are a couple in our late 20's, and this hotel definitely attracts an older crowd. This is good for us, because we tend to be quiet vacationers. So if you are looking for a party and active nightlife with other hotel guests, this is probably not the right spot for you.
