“Surreal views, beautifully updated house”

Words cannot describe the views from this beautifully updated house. My family and I were having a hard time deciding between a house or a resort - I am happy to say we hit the jack pot in choosing this house. Quality beddings, furniture and accessories are furnished throughout the villa and the full time staff catered to your every whim. The outdoor living areas are decadent, nooks and crannies abound all with views high above the caribbean sea and neighboring Martinique in the distance. Between the two pools, lounging areas that could accommodate 20 people (no kidding) and private balconies off the bedrooms - my family had plenty of space. Highly recommend this property and St Lucia in general. The value for price is almost too good to be true.

“An incredibly special place that is a whole new class of holiday”
Reviewed 18 August 2013 for a stay in July 2013

From the moment we arrived at Saline Reef to the moment we left, we felt incredibly privileged to be there. It was another class of holiday - like flying first class.

Location
It is almost impossible to overstate how good the villa’s cliff-top location is. You could never tire of the views – some of the best in St Lucia - because there are so many. Wild seas, turquiose shallows, craggy coastlines, golden beaches, and the twinkling lights of Gros Islet and Rodney Bay are all on offer depending which of Saline Reef’s many vantage points you chose.
Secondly, its grounds are extensive yet completely private. Once inside, we felt completely hidden from the outside world, yet never cut off because of the views. The beautiful, vibrant garden is very well kept and the two pools are a suntrap for the vast majority of the day.
Finally, everything we needed was within a ten-minute drive – beaches, shops, the marina, banks machines, bars and restaurants and the spas of the two close by hotels, including the wonderful Cap Masion.

Service
The staff were fantastic. They ensured that our break in a stunning villa, was a truly relaxing holiday. They took care of everything - from all our meals and drinks, our cleaning, washing and even tourist information. Angel, the housekeeper and cook, and her team made us feel at home immediately. Nothing was too much trouble. Alfie had the pool cleaned each morning before we had even got up. You simply don’t get that level of personalized service in resorts. It is things like this that make Saline Reef so special.

The House
The house’s layout is great. Spacious, light and everything clean, crisp and fresh. Felt more like someone’s own home than a holiday home. Almost every room makes use of the stunning views – which means waking up at Saline Reef is a complete joy.
It would be the perfect place for a group of friends, with each double room ensuite. The living room is huge and plenty big enough for six people to lounge around – although why you would ever want to move inside and leave the views, I’ve no idea.
It is also fitted with all the latest modcons – large TV, dvd, music links for iphone’s, wifi - so you don’t need bring anything with you in terms of entertainment.

Summary
In short, Saline Reef is an incredibly special place. You can go to all manner of top, top end resorts, and have excellent service, good restaurants and idyllic grounds etc. But with Saline Reef you get all that, but you get it all to yourself. Complete and utter privacy in a villa that is as quality as any high-end resort. No fighting for sunbeds with other guests, no sharing secluded pools and gardens with other guests, no sticking with the same menu day after day. What you want, when you want it, in the privacy of your own first star villa. Would go back at the drop of a hat.

“The best views in the Caribbean”
Reviewed 10 March 2013 for a stay in February 2013

Without question one of the best accommodations I have ever had the pleasure of staying in. And as a honeymoon destination Saline Reef exceeded our expectations in every way.

Saline Reef must surely enjoy one of the best views in the entire Caribbean, perched on the cliff edge at the top of Cap Estate with views to Pigeon Island and across to Martinique. The accommodation itself is faultless with the outside areas our particular favourite. With a sitting area, a dining area and an amazing pool area there is no shortage of space to relax. And with only 2 of us staying we had more space than we knew what to do with it. There are 2 pools, a smaller pool for sitting and enjoying a cocktail in (The housekeeper Angel makes an amazing banana rum cocktail!!), and a bigger pool for swimming or just floating about to cool down. The sun beds around the pool are very comfortable, and the sitting and dining areas have space enough for 6 guests.

The privacy enjoyed by Saline Reef’s outside areas is amazing. The garden, pool and outside dining area cannot be seen from the road, neighbouring accommodations or even the sea below. You feel like you are the only people on the island in this villa. There is also an outside BBQ and additional dining/seating area at the bottom of the garden behind the bigger pool.

Inside, we used the master bedroom on the top floor which had not one but 2 private balconies, both with amazing views. We spent every morning, drinking a cup of coffee and watching the little fishing boats go about their business and in the distance the cruise ships slope into Castries. All 3 of the bedrooms in the villa are en-suite, have tons of storage space, air conditioning and a safe.

The inside living area is really bright and spacious with another dining area and tons of seating. The whole area can also be opened up to the outside and it gives the whole place an even greater sense of space and luxury. (When opened, the double doors by the table provide a lovely frame for the view down to Pigeon Island. It really is a spectacular outlook!). There is also a TV which has American cable channels and Wi-Fi is available in most parts of the house

There is a fully equipped kitchen and another dining area upstairs. You enjoy the luxury of a housekeeper/cook who can prepare breakfasts, lunches and dinners as well as the aforementioned rum cocktails!! She will also pick up shopping for you if you want. You can use her as much or as little as you like. We tended to use her for breakfast and the odd lunch and sorted ourselves out in the evening or went out. There is a gardener, (Oliver) and a maintenance man, (Alfie) who look after the property while you are there. You also have the added piece of mind in the shape of a security guard who in on site from 6pm – 6am everyday. Tropical Villas who manage the villa send out a rep to visit you at the beginning of the stay. She was a great source of local info and gave us maps, suggested restaurants (some with pre-arranged discounts!), days out and so on. She is also on call for you 24hrs a day should you need her for anything.

A car is essential when staying at Saline Reef in my opinion (preferably a 4x4 as it’s quite a climb getting to the property from Rodney Bay). 2 excellent hotels are within a 5 minute drive – Cap Maison and The Body Holiday. You can use these for lunches, dinner, their 5* spas or just to relax in one of their bars. The Body Holiday has a really nice beach open to the public. Rodney Bay is only a 10-15 minute drive and has tons of restaurants, bars, and shops. Your closest supermarkets can also be found here.

We really did have the most amazing honeymoon in Saline Reef, one we will never forget. The villa is nothing short of stunning and provides every comfort and luxury you will ever need. I cannot recommend it highly enough… although I was in two minds about posting this review as when word spreads, and more and more people stay, the clamour for available weeks in the coming years might get in the way of our return!

Properties like this are really one in a million.
