We stayed in Cazouls for a total of 5 months. We always bought our red wine from Domaine Castan and got to know the very friendly family. When we go back with friends they all love the small museum and the wine. The AOC red at 1.80 Euros a litre is the wine to buy.

While visiting friends in Maurassan they suggested a trip to visit Andre and Valerie's Domaine and museum.

This was one of the highlights of our stay, a great friendly welcome by knowledgeable and passionate people. We were taken into the museum and left to look around all of the historical artefacts connected to the region and the wines, at our leisure - no A to Z whistle-stop as you might find in other attractions - and then onto a wine tasting session.

Valerie took the time to talk us through the grape varieties and that made up the differing wines, she asked us what we normally drunk and what we liked about it and then brought out a great selection for us to try. Superb!

My award goes to the Muscat range - it is phenomenal - light floral notes punched through with a gentle hint of citrus like fruit. If you want something far from the normal fare this is it. There were also great candidates for the wine stock back home in the rose and red categories.

Both my wife and myself are true converts to the wines of Domaine Castan and are spreading the word by sharing the wine - exactly what is was made for, friends and good times.

Thank you Valerie and Andre for such a great time.

Mark and Tracy.
