Fanjove Private Island

It was an incredible experience to be in Fanjove Island for 6 nights. When we came to the island our initial feeling was "is this real?" the pictures of this island is truly spectacular but the beautiful colors, the peaceful setting and the remote feeling of this island was almost unreal to take in. One of the outher guests welcomed us with "welcome to paradise"....

But actually for several nights we vere the only guests and to say that it felt special and unique to be the only guests is the understatement of the year. It was amazing!

This is a newly opened island for tourism so word of mouth or the advertisments/reviews has not been spread enough yet. But it will ! If you want to have peace and quiet, snorkel, kayaking and just relax in an almost untouched island why go elsewhere? Also great bird life on the island. To combine Fanjove with Safari in Tanzania must be the optimal mix especially if you have aleady been to Mafia or Zanzibar.

The bandas are rustic and beautfully crafted but still feels very nice and spacious (ecoluxury...), no aircondition and please bring a flashligth to make it easier to navigate the island after dinner so you dont step on any giant Cocnut Crabs....

IF you get the good weather like we did we cant imagine any place better to chill out and just relax from the stress of smartphones etc

You can take a snorkel tour or kayak at any time you want. The service and the friendliness from the staff and Giorgia and Pietro that manages the island was great. The food was good also with 3-course both for dinner and lunch

At one night Pietro asked us to come for a swim with the dolphins outside the island and it was a perfect ending to our stay in Fanjove I think we stayed with the dolphins for nearly an hour.

We will never forget it and we dream about returning to Fanjove!

Room Tip: Choose the Bandas that is facing east for more wind since there is no aircondition.

This has to be one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to, "complete" in every way possible!

We were greeted by Pietro and Giorgia, with a fresh coconut drink on the beach as our boat from Songo Songo transported us to this beautiful place...

We had the whole island to ourselves for 4 days, with 22 staff that were ready to help you with anything...

We did nothing but CHILL the whole time, with the exception of one afternoon of kayaking... But there is plenty of things you can do if yo are restless... We swam several times a day, as the water was so enticing! Transparent and warm... We enjoyed all of the birds on the beach that flew back and forth in flocks. Breath-taking!

The service was excellent, and the managers were so sweet and knowledgeable!

The food was really good and presented very artistically! Seafood at all meals (lunch and dinner) which suited us perfectly. Fish, octopus, squid.

The rooms were fantastic. Robinson Crusoe style. We slept with the the doors wide open all night, and could hear the splashing of the waves. We were a little hot at night, but we managed to sleep. Some rooms are better than others, depending on the season and direction of the breeze. Just ask the managers, and they will put you in the "coolest" room...

Even though we have been married for 17 years, we considered THIS trip to be our honeymoon! It's PERFECT for honeymooners... but next time we come (because we will definitely return) we will bring our teenage kids!

Thanks for 4 LOVELY days! :)

Love this place and it wasn't even completely finished. Had just opened so they were still working out the quirks but it didn't matter. Fantastic scenery, great beaches, turquoise water, fresh fish, diving in unexplored waters, quiet, environmentally friendly, and I could go on and on. If you're looking for one of those few unpopulated paradises left on earth this is one of them.

Room Tip: They're all good but some a bit of a walk away from dining and lounge area so depending on how y...

Exactly what we were looking for, powder white sands, crystal clear water. Great service, possibly the best food we've had in TZ.

Absolutely no complaints - except that we didn't manage to spot a coconut crab! Extra incentive for a return trip.

A remote island only a 1km long, completely secluded apart from the turquoise ocean and the sound of the rumbling waves crashing onto the reef before the calm waters reaches this idyllic island. Even the journey to Fanjove is an experience by itself. Island hoping over several Islands, a short bajah ride to the end of Songo Songo, followed by a boat ride to Fanjove.

The simplicity of this beautiful island greets you on arrival, white sands, palm trees, shells the size of dinner plates and friendly staff greeting you with a fresh coconut! Both Pietro and Georgia, the managers, are passionate outdoor adventure people and ensure there is more than enough activities for you to do. Or you can just chill in the well designed bandas, which has been cleverly designed to maximise air flow and sea views. To wake up in the mornings with the most incredible sea views and dive into the clear water really is priceless, all only a few meters away from your banda!

Fanjove in all it's simplicity really is paradise found!

From the moment we arrived I felt stress, tension and the real world just melt away... The island is beautiful and so tranquil, with only 6 bandas so never more than a handful of guests to share the paradise!

Our hosts greeted us on the beach with fresh coconuts to drink from and then were available to assist with everything from diving trips, Island walks, Dao expeditions to allowing me into the kitchen to join in the cooking (a huge privilege as their chef is extremely skilled!).

If you love water sports then there is diving, snorkelling, kayaking, swimming and more... But if (like me) you are fearful of deep water then the beach is outstanding! Not just white sands and turquoise, crystal clear water but shallow enough all day to enjoy anything from the occasional paddle to a gentle swim to cool off.

What struck us most was the peaceful, calm and quiet pace of life. It was the ultimate relaxation so perfect if you need to get away from it all.

Incidentally, we had sight of dolphins and hump back whales while there and understand there are nesting turtles earlier in the year, so well worth the adventure of getting there!

Room Tip: The Banda had a four poster bed, shower, flushing toilet and was beautifully crafted from all natura...

We had 4 days (3 nights) on this unspoilt, perfect, paradise island. We were on our honeymoon, and we didnt want to leave!! We had the island to ourselves, with Pietro, Georgia and their lovely staff looking after all our needs, bringing us coffee in the morning, giving us guided tours, taking us snorkelling when ever we wanted in the surrounding reefs and allowing us to decide on what we did and when we did it.
We couldnt recommend this place highly enough!!! We will definitely return but next time for longer! Its a must visit destination and a photo cannot do this place justice.
its like living in a postcard with amazingly warm and welcoming hospitality. thank you.

Room Tip: They are all amazing!
