Just superb. The house , garden and pool area are beautiful. It is spotlessly clean with very comfortable beds. Everything you could possibly wish for, your every need is catered for . The food is fantastic, and Amelie and her charming family go the extra mile, their warmth and care made our visit the best ever , we were sad to leave, and hope to return. This is the best place I have ever stayed in France and is fully justified in all its awards, they are well deserved.

Room Tip: We had the little house which was charming with everything you could possibly need.

We have just returned from 5 wonderful days at Metairie Montplaisir and I am feeling effervescent about our trip! Amelie really has created a perfect haven for those in need of R&R for a few days. The property itself is beautiful and has been thoughtfully and stylishly decorated. It is spacious enough that you never feel on top of your fellow guests but still has an air of intimacy that made us feel like we were part of the furniture. The grounds are large and beautifully maintained - the pool is dreamy with comfy loungers, hammam towels and a well stocked drinks fridge. It's just the sort of pool area you would like in your own home.
We were travelling with our 10 month old son, so we stayed in the Atelier to ensure we had enough room. The duplex gite contained everything we could have needed and more ( over and above a well equipped kitchenette it also had cot/changing mat/baby bath etc which was perfect) - it was also light and airy with good storage and full of interesting furniture, paintings, magazines.
We had no intention of eating at Metairie every night, but after the first evenings supper we were unable to bring ourselves to venture out. Prepared by Amelie and her mother ( a seasoned professional chef) the food was genuinely outstanding - each mouthful somehow bring surpassed by the next. I love to cook and have come away totally inspired by Mamam's cooking - in fact I am desperate to go on one of the cooking weekends Amelie hosts every spring.
Amelie herself is simply wonderful. In her unobtrusive way she ensures that all her guests have everything they need and all the extra things they didn't even realise they needed. She is a invaluable resource on things to do/see and explore in the region, and her passion for what she has created at Metairie is infectious.
I whole heartedly recommend Metairie Montplaisir for any traveller interested in the relaxed luxury- it is an absolute gem.

Our week long stay in August was perfect in every way! Amelie (the proprietor) is a wonderful host, she simply can't do enough to make sure you have everything you need and never makes you feel you're an inconvenience. He knowledge of the area and contact list is quite impressive.
The grounds and main building have been beautifully renovated and the rooms we saw have so much character. We stayed in 'Francesca' which was perfect with two bedrooms for our family of four (2 children - 6 and 3).
The food was faultless...both at lunch and for dinner outside on the terrace and our children were extremely well catered for. Amelie's mother cooks a real variety of international cuisine of excellent quality, so much better than any of the restaurants we visited during our stay.
Nice mix of guests which created a very comfortable and relaxed atmosphere and you have the option to lounge by the (beautiful) pool or visit one of the numerous attractions in the area.
This is one of the only destinations we'd revisit...I literally can't find anything to fault and every time we tell friends and family about it, I'm pining to return!

Our second visit to Amelie's and it was just as amazing this time round. 4 of us had 2 rooms – Rosalie & Nandette, both rooms are wonderful with everything you could need. The pool and grounds are just as beautiful as we remembered, the location stunning and so convenient for both the airport and Carcassonne. The food cooked by Amelie’s mum is simply divine – market fresh ingredients, exquisitely cooked and just delicious. We begged her to come home with us but no such luck. What really makes this place special though is Amelie who is a wonderful hostess - she really understands how to make her guests feel relaxed and at home, and nothing is ever too much trouble. If you are looking for a bit of R&R and pampering, there really is no better place. Just go. I can't wait to go back...

Room Tip: All the rooms are beautiful

The owner, Amelie, could not have made our stay better in any way - the level of service she offers, with attention to small details that we had not yet thought to consider, was extraordinary. The house, decor, room, food, garden, pool were fantastic in a very relaxed, comfortable way.
She is also knowledgable about the area and keen to advise and assist with booking ahead for restaurants/bicycle hire etc.
Much as I am happy to try to use my schoolgirl French, it obviously helps that Amelie is fluent in French, English and Spanish!
I cannot wait to return.
