“Wonderfull”
Reviewed 26 May 2014 for a stay in April 2014

We had a wonderfull stay the last week of April 2014. Lovely warm cottage, all aminities are there. We fully enjoyed our stay. Great antiquemarket in the village hall. We also made a trip to Oxford and the New Bodleain Library: what an impressive place. We had a wonderful recommendable tour!

We might come again and we can recommend renting Wychert Cottage with its very welcoming and helpfull owners

“Comfortable Home From Home - Excellent”
Reviewed 20 April 2014 for a stay in April 2014

A tastefully decorated, well equipped, clean and quaint holiday cottage. My family and I spent a week here and used it as a base for visiting London and it's attractions as the train station was so close with very good rate of all day parking. Ideally situated for Warner Bros Studio Tour, Woburn Safari Park and Bletchley Park. Ayelsbury was a short bus journey away.

There was a nice welcome pack on our arrival and John the owner gave us a tour of the property. Even though the owners lived next door we hardly noticed. Beds were comfortable and full central heating was great when the evening temperature dropped a bit. Nice collection of DVDs to choose from and also a good selection of toys and games for the kids.

The village had plenty to offer with a convenience store around the corner, a play park a short walk away, five pubs a short walk away, 10 mins to the furthest, we ate at The Kings Head and this was well priced and very friendly. The bakery on the main road had plenty to offer and again was well priced.

Overall a very pleasant holiday in a lovely area, we were made to feel welcome from the start and left very tired having crammed so much into our week.

“Cosy cottage with everything we needed”
Reviewed 5 January 2014 for a stay in December 2013

Right from booking to when we left this cottage was perfect.
My booking enquiry was answered swiftly and effectively by the the owner.
Upon arrival we were shown all the necessary details of the cottage and then left to settle in with our very nice Christmas tree which, as promised, was supplied for us, along with some very tasty mince pies and milk included with the welcome pack.
The cottage was very well equipped and laid out and in a lovely location and should we visit the area again i would hope to be able to stay here.

“Lovely, cosy cottage, had everything we needed.”
Reviewed 1 October 2013 for a stay in August 2013

A very well equipped and laid out cottage in a great location with a real 'home from home' feel about it. The booking process was very smooth with excellent communication all the way through. The welcome pack was nice and the pint of fresh milk in the fridge was very thoughtful and much appreciated.

Our two young boys enjoyed being in the cottage playing with the the games as much as exploring the village itself.

Overall a great find and we will book again when next in the area!

“Just what we were looking for”

Wychert Cottage was as described and met our needs almost perfectly. It was quiet, clean and comfortable and provided a good base for visiting local attractions and, in our case, family nearby. Our only reservation was the range of kitchen equipment, with a needless quantity of wineglasses and mugs but a shortage of sideplates and cereal-size bowls, nor could we find a sieve or a sharp vegetable knife.

“An excellent stay in a lovely property”

We booked this property wishing to connect with a friend working nearby, who only returns to the UK from time to time. In addition, the village's connections with the Midsomer Murders TV series was a plus point, as my wife is a long-time fan. We had visited this area on one previous occasion, but it was our first visit to the village of Haddenham.

The property is outstanding, and has everything one needs. We appreciated the comfort of the cottage, and also enjoyed sitting on the patio, as the weather was warm enough to do so on several days during our stay. It is easy to see how the village was chosen for the filming of several scenes in Midsomer Murders, as many properties in the village are picture-postcard material. The area around the church, complete with duck-pond and lych gate, would delight any foreign visitor as much as they delighted us. We attended the service at St Mary's on the Sunday, and were warmly received by the worshipping community, who recommended places we might visit.

We visited a family friend studying in Oxford, and were pleased to find the regular bus service into the city was no more than 50 yards from the cottage, thus meaning that, on this occasion, we did not even have to use the Park and Ride service.

We had a great meal at the House of Spice (Indian) which is a few minutes' walk of the cottage. For a snack meal shortly after our arrival we were served an excellent lunch in stylish surroundings at the Little Italy coffee bar, again just a short walk from the property. There is a good bakery serving a wide range of cakes and pastries very near to the cottage.

We found the people in the village very friendly, and my son was impressed that the recreation ground also had a cricket net, which he was pleased to make full use of! Towns such as Henley-on-Thames, Thame and Wallingford are within easy reach, as are many other villages used as locations in the Midsomer Murder series, e.g. Long Crendon.

We had a very pleasant, relaxing week at this cottage, and hope to return in the future. The owners, John and Ailsa, who live in an adjacent property, were unobtrusive, but friendly and helpful.

“Fantastic find, we will go back”
Reviewed 2 June 2013 for a stay in May 2013

This cottage is perfect, probably one of the best we have ever stayed in. It is very comfortable and well appointed, everything you need is there. There is a recreation area/ park just around the corner. The village is beautiful, (you can picture Barnaby and his Midsomer colleagues around every corner in the old village). The green and church are picturesque. There is a coffe shop (little Italy) just over the road from the cottage, plus an excellent bakery, right next to the cottage for freshly baked bread, cakes etc (just like being in France). The Indian also round the corner from the cottage was also excellent. The village also has its own little museum which was free entry and worth a look at, although it is only open on Sundays 2-4 and Tuesdays 10 -12. The people in the village were very friendly, we attended the service at the Church of England on the green on Sunday Morning which was excellent and the people were very welcoming and friendly and suggested places we could visit. The Cottage and village are on our listed of places to return to. Highly recommend
