“Lovely, relaxing week”
Reviewed 17 August 2014 for a stay in July 2014

We spent our first week of a four week holiday in France at this delightful cottage. The accomodation suited us perfectly and the kids loved the outside swing. The house was within easy reach of lots of activities and we enjoyed walks, kayaking, swimming, picnics, village explorations and eating. The area is picturesque and we could see why artists would have been inspired! Tina, the lady who looks after the house was lovely and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to families looking for an authentic French countryside experience.

“A relaxed getaway in the Valley of the Creuse.”
Reviewed 14 August 2014 for a stay in July 2014

We are not infirmed but we are senior citizens with the usual nocturnal toilet needs. Bedrooms on the first floor and toilet downstairs via a narrow staircase are not the ideal combination at night. Overall the property was probably a bit too French shabby/chic for our liking.
Pros: Pleasant neighbours; interesting places to visit; BBQ;
Cons: Very remote hamlet, difficult to find; bedrooms too hot, living room/kitchen/dining room too dark; fridge/freezer needs replacing; microwave oven needs 'understandable' instructions.
Would return again to the area but not the property.

Thank you for posting your review which is very important to us.

I can confirm that the fridge has already been changed as we speak, and that we will install an additional night light on the first floor hallway.

“A perfect, relaxing little retreat in the heart of the Creuse Valley, France's best kept secret.”
Reviewed 15 July 2014 for a stay in June 2014

A cosy little gite. A little dated but fully functional. Comfy beds (even the Z-bed I slept on.. and I'm a 20 stone bloke). Powerful hot shower. Beautiful little garden with patio, chimnea and big BBQ we put to use many a night. The hamlet of L'Ouche has some lovely old buildings and the inhabitants, French & English, are warm and welcoming. Nearby you'll find shops and bars in Lourdoueix-Saint-Michel with its magnificent fortified church, Fresselines and Crozant famed as the subject of many of the French impressionists including Monet, both with walks that follow his footsteps. The lake nearby adds another dimension. Bars, Restaurants, Beach with swimming areas, and an abundance of water sports. Loved it. We'll be back.

Thank you so much for your positive feedback both in terms of the comfort you experienced at Joie de Vie and the delights on offer near-by. Such a thoughtful and well composed summary will no doubt help other visitors visualise what is on offer and hopefully build a sence of excitement leading up to the start of their holiday. We look forward to seeing you again next year!

Thank you for taking the time to send such a positive review. We are also pleased that you had a great holiday and a wonderful experience at Lac' D'Eguzon as well as having the time to sample some of the activities either closer to or at our cottage.

You may be aware that this coming week it is predicted there will be an excellent viewing of the Perseids meteor shower. Joie de Vie is in an ideal position for such events as there are no street lights and there is very little city glow thus providing the perfect night skies for viewing. Should you want to catch this annual event in 2014 and top those experiences already expressed, we are open to receive advanced bookings. Check our page on Holiday Lettings for availability. Thank you once again, and look forward to seeing you next year.

“Awesome”
Reviewed 13 June 2013 for a stay in April 2013

This is a beautiful quaint cottage with everything you need for a comfortable holiday. Lots of walks in the French country side were lovely, the star gazing on a dark night was fantastic. If you need to get away from the busy City life, this is for you, we left feeling rejuvenated, nights were cosy in front of the log fire and we would highly recommend this holiday rental. We will definitely go back.
