“Amazing views from a cosy cottage in one of the most stunning parts of the world.”
Reviewed 24 November 2013 for a stay in October 2013

A warm, cosy cottage providing all the home from home comforts you could wish for for a weeks holiday. We enjoyed plenty of walks either right on the doorstep, or a short car ride away. We really enjoyed visiting the Bettyhill museum and the beautiful sandy beach behind it, Castle Varrich with it's beautiful views and the boggy moors walk at the RSPB in Forsinard. The cottage has everything you need after a long day out, cosy fires and comfy sofas. It even has plenty to do if you fancy a quiet day in, games, books and dvds. We hope to return one day soon to Ceol-na-Mara, we had a wonderful time.

“A beautiful cottage in one of the most beautiful parts of the world”
Reviewed 24 November 2013 for a stay in October 2013

The cottage is bigger and even cosier than the pictures suggest. We stayed for a week and wished we could have stayed for longer. This is clearly a well loved cottage and is kept warm, clean and very homely. There are beautiful views from the house of Kirtomy and the rugged coast. The North Highlands are fascinating to explore with some good HIghland pub grub available after a days hiking. I can't wait to return.

“A cosy original Highland croft house to explore the wild north from.”
Reviewed 22 November 2013 for a stay in October 2013

If you enjoy wild open landscapes and deserted beaches with rolling waves then you'll be in your element here. Its a great base for exploration or simply retreat and relaxation, protected from the elements by deep stone walls and warmed by open fires. Cosiness has been made a priority here in thoughtful restoration.

We were here in the Autumn when the grasses are golden and the skies change from moment to moment. Its a true haven for wildlife, a photographer's dream. Its worth bringing layers of warm clothing, waterproofs and a good pair of hiking boots to access mountains and places a bit off the beaten track. There's a folder in the kitchen full of advice on places to go and things to see. I can't wait to return and explore again.

“Beautiful views from this cosy cottage”
Reviewed 14 May 2013 for a stay in May 2013

We would recommend this cottage , it was very comfortable & warm with everything you could want. Kirtomy is very quiet as you would expect but ideally situated for exploring the north coast & just walking out from your door. Could not fault it. If possible book a meal at Cote-du-nord, just across the valley as an experience & delight of unique cooking..

“Beautiful quiet cottage set amongst history”

Had a wonderful week at this quiet and comfortable cottage in Sutherland. Cottage had everything we expected and was even more comfortable than the pictures had led us to believe. The place was fantastically clean and neat on arrival and everything worked perfectly - no complaints at all. Booking was easy and the owners have been sensitive in their restoration of the building and kept a meaningful photographic record of the renovation and the cottages history which is a really nice thing to connect you with the area. There was great reading material in the house with local O.S. maps for walking (Ben More and Ben Klibreck maps not included). The hamlet of Kirtomy was very friendly and quiet and there is a short walk down to old Kirtomy harbour with Otters and Seals and even fish to be had. The cottage is located a couple of miles from Bettyhill with local shops there and three restraunts locally to choose from. If you're a surfer than this is an amazing spot to base yourself for the north coast breaks and the cafe at the harbour in Thurso is excellent as is the fresh fish shop just across from it. Also there is a great museum in Thurso for the history of Caithness and an abundance of local history on your doorstep.

My husband and I and our dog stayed at Ceol-na-Mara for a week in August and we were delighted with the cottage. It is a real home from home and i could not have felt more comfortable and relaxed there.
Everything you need is provided, beds are really comfortable and the location is spot-on.

Don't hesitate to book this one !!
