A real gem of a house with a taste of rural France. The property has been refurbished to a very high standard with some quirky features. Perfect for those with children as a great beach is a few minutes away by car.
Had a great holiday at the farmhouse, 6 adults and 3 children under 6 , we had plenty of room , the kitchen is well equipped and the lounge area is lovely and big , we took a paddling pool for days we didn’t go to the local beach which is almost deserted, the farmhouse is in a great location for Dday beaches lots of history all round. Do make time to go to a local market takes you back to when we had good markets in England. Thank you Sam and Francesca for sharing your beautiful home
We stayed in this house for five weeks. It is a lovingly rebuilt stone house in the non-existent village of Glatigny [no bakery or any other business - boo hoo!]. It is a short drive, perfect bike ride or longish walk to a very nice beach. There is a ten minute drive to the nearest croissant in La Haye du Puits [that was a killer for us.] La Haye is a very sweet village with restaurants, shops, etc.
We had sterling weather which made the vacation memorable. Our cautions about the house are regarding the stairs from ground floor to first floor (narrow, steep and awkward. Not suitable for anyone very young, or with mobility problems). The second caution is the ladder that is the only access to the top floor loft. This is a real laddder that one must back down. The living room furniture was quite uncomfortable, though the owner, Sam, says he is in the process of remedying that.
Sam was very helpful at all times. We felt we could count on him to do his best. He offered advice and made adjustments during our stay to ease difficulties we found.
As stated before, the kitchen is very well equipped and all the faucets, shower, tub, washing machine, etc. are up to date and work.
It’s a lovely house and well located for seeing many major sights in western Normandy and Eastern Brittany.
We visited for Easter and had simply the most lovely time. The house is easy to find and situated close to the local market towns and within walking distance of the beach.
The house is just superb, we enjoyed luxuriating in front of the log burning stove with a bottle of something local and not a care in the world.
Very friendly, helpful and uncomplicated hosts, and a very beautiful and charming house with a lot of character, space and everything you need for a quiet retreat as well for a great family vacation.
We stayed 8 days and had just a great time here. We can only recommend this jewel and already plan to come back.
This is a beautifully restored house, however to say it is restored does not do it justice. It has been decorated in the most quirky style, yet is warm and welcoming. You have to go there to understand it.
We used it as a base for a short stay, we managed to see many of the attractions of Normandy. We visited the landing beaches and wartime museums. Also Mont St Michel, which was stunning.
Another nearby attraction is the shop La Maison du Biscuit, this is undoubtedly the best shop in the world! We spent over two hours there, just browing the massive range of provisions in there.
Another pull of the area was eating out. Two of Haye du Puits restaurants are well worth a vist, La Pom Cannalle is one of the best meals I have ever had, and La Commerce is an excellent basis restaurant.
If you want to visit an area that has not been destroyed by tourists, this part of France is well worth a visit. (The beaches are also magnificent, but not so great in February) This cottage is the ideal base, but I would recommend booking quickly, once people get to know about it, it will undoubtedly be booked up all the time. It made our holiday so special. Thank you Sam and Fran.
Just perfect place to escape from the rush and tear of modern life!
A well appointed holiday home with all the modern appliances along with an out door bar-b-q area ,comfortable and warm just a stroll from the beach.
Perfect for all the family feeling refreshed!
