“Good Does the Job for Aberdeen Accommodation”
Reviewed 17 April 2014

Like many business travellers we have a budget and accommodation in Aberdeen is usually veering on the expensive side to say the least! This place is fine for the area at £110 per night via Booking dot Com.
It takes you about 30 minutes to commute to Aberdeen (school holiday time).
Rooms are spacious and clean. Furnishing is basic, bedding is basic but clean, towels are ok. Carpet in room is clean but contract type (will do job ok). Good place though it looks like everything was executed on a strict budget.
Receptionist was lovely and friendly - very helpful with local knowledge.
WiFi in my room good. TV a wee bit on the small side. Shower clean and powerful.
Would definitely use it again. Would not be too bothered by the commute into Aberdeen as I think this place is well worth a look.
Would not pay more than the £110 though it is borderline expensive for what you are getting.

Room Tip: Check where to situate for best WiFi signal if this is vital to you.

I was very impressed with Lairhillock Lodge. Owners were lovely people who were both welcoming and professional. Room was spacious, comfortable, well appointed and tastefully decorated as well. I loved the lodge’s rural setting, which was restful and peaceful. Despite its rural location the lodge is conveniently located near Aberdeen by car. Received attentive customer service from the staff in the morning and a great cooked breakfast. My wife and I will definitely return.

Second stay here, only a 15/20 minute drive into Aberdeen ,clean comfortable accommodation , good self serve breakfast with plenty of choice. Just walk across to the Inn for evening drink/food, the food there is excellent and reasonable value. My first choice every time for my Aberdeen trip.

Stayed for 2 nights for work, room spotlessly clean, spacious, flat screen tv, wet room bathroom.
I assume the hotel was recently modernised as everything looks new.
The bed in room 16 is a bit uncomfortable, you can feel the springs, it needs a new mattress or upgrade.
Breakfast nice usual self service style no complaints.
No bar or restaurant on site but there is a restaurant and bar next door and the food is top notch.
Hotel is in rural area so it's quiet and has lovely views if you feel like a walk.
It's about 20 mins drive to Aberdeen centre.
All in all good value hotel in nice area

I stayed here for 4 nights on a business trip to Aberdeen. My reasoning was mostly a protest at the rip-off prices demanded by most Aberdonian hotels. This out-of-the-way house seemed to be more than a B&B but not quite a hotel - being expensive compared to the former but relatively cheap compared to the latter at £90 per night. It has adequate car parking and free Wi-Fi.

My room (13) was a large disabled double with a wet bathroom en-suite, which was clean and quiet - just what I asked for. When I arrived, the receptionist was helpful and courteous. After 9 pm there are no staff on duty and there is no bar or facilities - so those without transport are constrained to have dinner next door at the Inn with the same name ("Lairhillock Inn"). This establishment is a separate business and has no direct association with the lodge/ It offers a decent affordable fare, obviously prepared by good chef. My stay worked out very well in general so, all considered, I was satisfied. Downside? Breakfast could have been better: greasy fry-up based on self-service (kept under silver foil) but good alternative cereal or yoghurt with fruit juice. However, the only thing the two breakfast ladies seemed to be interested in was ensuring they took guests' room numbers as they came into the dining room and exchanging banter with the (local?) workmen who came in to breakfast every morning dressed in dirty overalls. I suppose my main negative was that the place had no character; nevertheless, it served my purpose for a business trip.

Room Tip: It you want quiet, ask for the back of the lodge - which saves you being disturbed by the conversati...

I accompanied my husband for one night's stay (6th Nov) on a business trip. The receptionist was welcoming and warm, and showed us our room (16) It was very clean and spacious with a super shower room and the normal facilities. We were surprised that the bed was a standard double and not king size to fill the headboard area. The springs were very obvious and could be felt through the mattress padding, this bed needs a new mattress or a good topper. I ached like heck in the morning!
The shower was really lovely. Breakfast was self service and very average, cold plates for warm, greasy food is not good! However, a superb quality yoghurt was a nice touch...
We dined next door in the evening and had an excellent meal! Walking in the dark from the lodge car park was rather hazardous as a light needs to be fitted where the path starts with a step that's hard to see with no light.
All in all, it was OK and had good points. Cleanliness was excellent, service was friendly and the shower room was great! The few problem areas could easily be rectified as we did not feel that £120 for one night was value compared to Premier Inn's good sleep guarantee that can cost a quarter of the price!
I wish the proprietors well with their business.

Trying to find an affordable place to stay close to Aberdeen, we ended up in Lairhillock lodge. It sas hard to find by car, but the reception was friendly and we got room no. 3. Try to avoid this room, since you will hear a humming noise most of the time. It's like a refridgerator is working on the other side of your bedroom wall. The room was clean and large, but the bed was small for two people. Breakfast was really poor and the ladies in the kitchen were to busy with each other to bother you. It would be better if they close the door to the kitchen. Even better to have no breakfast here at all. Find a place closer to or in Aberdeen, even if it's more expensive.

Room Tip: Avoid room no. 3
