We have just returned from a break in Blackwood Forest, staying in cabin 30 as a family of 3 people. This break served us all well, with an afternoon biking through the woods, a couple of hours with a ranger learning fire-lighting and den making and the safety and freedom to play outside without close supervision our 10 year old had an absolute blast! There's so much to do locally that we struggled to fit it all in but managed to compare Winchester and Salisbury cathedrals, a quick visit to Stonehenge and a boat trip around Portsmouth's historic docks.
Our evenings consisted of time in the hot tub which was heavenly, BBQ on our deck followed by a movie before sinking into comfortable beds, shattered from our days activities. The forest is a perfect setting if you want peace and quiet too, with deer running by and sunlight peaking through the leaves of the trees you really can get back to nature. A couple of simple additions would have got 5 and I mean simple, like salt and pepper provided on arrival along with washing up liquid... It's the simple touches that go along way. This said the service is excellent and the accommodation well proportioned, clean and very warm. Well worth the money and well worth a visit!

Thank you for your review following your recent break at Blackwood Forest. You certainly managed to cram a lot into a few days and it sounds as if you earned your relaxing dip in the hot tub every night. I do hope you will consider staying with us again in the future.

We were looking for a relaxing quiet outdoor holiday not too commercialised like centrepark. We paid a grand for a 4 night stay including unlimited films on a sky wifi package. A bit on the expensive side but we were looking for quality. We were not disappointed, the golden oak lodge did have the wow factor with the hot tub as a bonus. The whole holiday was relaxing away from the hustle of the daily 9 to 6 routine. Bike hiring was expensive, but we bought our own. The walking /cycling trails were not too strenuous and gave us ample exploration of the forest.
Although the tree climbing and zip wiring was cancelled we did enjoy the twilight walk. The kids did learn a few things about the forest ecosystem.
We shopped at Eastleigh Asda , 20 min away and bought enough food for a week. It was worth visiting Winchester City, but wanted to explore more of Hampshire. Surprisingly Southampton, Bournemouth ,Portsmouth and the new forest are within an hours drive but we did not have enough time.
The only disappointment was two out of four days it rained but this did not put a dampner on enjoying the relaxation we wanted.
With more sites opening we hope to return to a different location with more onsite activities.

We spent the Easter weekend at the Blackwood forest with friends and family. We stayed in a Golden Oak cabin which was lovely but I think very expensive for what you get. The setting is fab, and the accomodation is nice but there are little touches that I think should be included for the price. It was £1200 for 3 nights but we had to bring all the basics...like washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, bin bags, sugar, etc. I think at that price, they should provide a little pack and leave some of the very basic supplies. Also, there is a very steep charge (£30 for 3 days) to get access to the Internet . Again, I think that makes it poorer value for money and that should be included. At least the internet. Little things like a wobbly tap in the en suite is not what I would expect at the price. Having said that, it's clean, comfortable, spacious and the setting is lovely.

Went here for 5 days with my boyfriend for his birthday, easy to get to.
The cabin was spotless, everything you needed was there and the hot tub was the icing on the cake.
The supermarket was full of the essentials but there is supermarkets in Basingstoke and Winchester, which are only 30 mins away.
Winchester was a great place to visit lots of things to see and do.

Had a brilliant week, didn't want to come home.

Would recommend, it is suitable for everyone even pets,

We booked a Silver Birch lodge for 6 of us for 4 nights. It cost around £600 including extra charge for the dog so was quite expensive.
Very impressed with the lodge when we arrived, very light and airy inside and the kitchen/ lounge open plan is very well laid out. The hot tub was very popular with us all! :) I felt the lodges were well spaced out and it certainly didn't feel like there were 60 lodges there in total.
Negatives- the lodge could've been cleaned better on our arrival. You have to check out by 10am so plenty of cleaning time! Also I wasn't expecting lots of facilities but some play things / assault course for older children would've been good- there is a very small play area near the retreat which is aimed at young children. We would have liked to hire bikes but they were ridiculously expensive to hire for a day for 2 adults and 2 kids would've been £66!!! Better deal to hire them for the week.
Also the site is in the middle of nowhere. Pretty much nothing within walking distance. Micheldever station is about 5-10 mins drive, there's a nice park there, a pub and we also caught the train from there to Southampton but be prepared there's no local shop there.
Overall, we all had a great time. It was very relaxing and the walks through the woodland were lovely, we saw bluebells, rabbits and a family of deer. I would definitely recommend it but bearing in mind the points mentioned above. We all really enjoyed it and would all like to go back but would maybe try a different site as I feel we've seen all there is to see at Blackwood.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review following your recent break at Blackwood Forest. I am pleased you enjoyed a relaxing time and liked the forest setting. That get-away-from-it all forest break is very much what we offer, a chance to take a step back and recharge your batteries. I hope you will try our other locations too, each one is different and each local area has lots to offer. Many are close to Go Ape, which is has great activities for older children and adults.

Stayed here for a long weekend to celebrate my birthday! 3 couples and a dog. The lodge exceeded my expectations, very light and airy, comfy bedding, good big bath sheets, clean bathrooms and a perfectly functional kitchen complete with dishwasher. I loved the design of the place, the oak furniture, the corner sofa etc. and the hot tub was lovely! Cleaned every day. The lodges are positioned as such that none are overlooked so you really have some privacy. The wifi is something you must have as there is zero phone signal! Only issue we had was when we left we had prepaid for the entertainment package but they had no record of it. When I mentioned I booked through Hoseasons all was resolved as there had been a precious issue, but it was a frustrating end to a lovely weekend. Quite pricey but I would do it again!

At £800 for 2 adults and 2 pets it wasn't cheap, but we enjoyed it. Only gripe was that the sofas in the pet friendly lodges are no where near as comfortable as in the regular lodges. Spa is great and if you are after a peaceful retreat with no one bothering you then this place is good!
