We booked this place for 3 nights in the pool villa from ABL travel agents as they gave us the best rates (even better than Agoda and Luxury Link). We were in villa 143 which was extemely private. We couldn't see anyone ever which was great!

Our Favorites:
- Our villa was huge and nicely done. The swimming pool was quite big. We hardly used the living area. The heart-shape bath-tub was to die for!
- Organic Restaurant - The food was delicious and fresh! Loved the breads and jams there!
- The property itself was very calm and relaxing.

Not so good parts:
- EXTREMELY PUSHY STAFF: The staff seemed extremely pushy trying to up-sell everything. When we checked-in, the lady told us that there is dinner with dance today in the hotel. We politely declined as we already had dinner reservations at some other restaurant in Ubud town. She asked us whether she can cancel our dinner by calling the restaurant! We were quite surprised as we never mentioned anything like that. In other instances, 2 or 3 different staff kept asking us to do the river rafting as they could get us a good rate. We would politely decline each time but it got quite annoying after a while. In our 3 nights stay, we were asked at least 8 times whether they can book us some sort of a tour. It got worst when a person from the front desk called us in our room at 11 p.m. a night before we were checking out if he could arrange us a rafting tour. We told them that we are checking-out tomorrow but he was adamant and asked us to do it at 8 in the morning. Note that - not even once we inquired about any activity from anyone at the resort. We thought it was absolutely ridiculous!

- Food Variety - In room breakfast and afternoon tea both had extremely limited selection and was below average. We didn't enjoy our eggs benedict and nasi goreng and ended up leaving more than half of it.

- Swimming Pool is NOT heated and it gets extremely cold. We couldn't stay in the water for more than 5 minutes. So, that super big swimming pool is just a "showy" pool.

- Last but NOT-AT-ALL least - Snakes!! We saw two snakes and a HUGE Lizard in the garden area by the pool. The snake kept in the bushes but the lizard was walking just outside our window. We had kept the windows open while having breakfast and ran to close it when we spot the lizard and kept all the windows and doors closed during our entire stay. I don't know what they can do about it as this resort is super green and you feel like you are in the middle of nature. If you are okay with this, try it out. We were not and were happy to leave.

Room Tip: If you really want to stay here, our villa 143 was extremely private and gorgeous!!

The RPM really is a piece of Heaven on Earth and is a MUST stay in the Ubud area and a must visit on your bucket list!. From the very friendly reception staff and views to the valley, to the luxury appointed private villas with infinity edge pool and plus king size bed, to the incredible views as seen by many a photo. The relaxing breakfast views at the 3 tiered restaurant, together with a great breakfast selection served to your table from very friendly local staff. A lift ride and wander later down to the edge of the Agung River you will pass beautifully manicured and arranged gardens, holy spring pools, a riverside temple, and a stunningly located Organic restaurant on a bend in the river, great for bfast or lunch. The resort is built on the side of cliffface, so expect to walk a little, but what a beautiful stroll it is, with tropical plants, flowers and carvings at every corner. Make sure you visit the Kirana Spa, the entrance is absolutely stunning, including the massage villa's and quality of Spa Treatments provided. Yes the resort is 10 minutes from the centre of Ubud, but really you just want to stay and lap up all the beauty, relax and breathe it all in from the edge of your pool or sunbed. Suprisingly the villa's and pools are very private due to the hillside layout and positioning, roof structures and landscaping. I hope my review helps you in deciding to stay here, I'm a Hotel Industry Professional with 5* working experience throughout Asia. Cheers and Enjoy!! ps I will add photos later

We spend 4 nights in Ubud and two in Royal Pita Maha ( we spend 2 other nights in Pita Maha..a sister hotel). The Royal is simply fabulous...you are 5 minutes drive from central Ubud ( free bus) in the middle of the jungle. Our villa was simply superb with a private pool overlooking the valley and the river. This was not just a small pool...but a serious one...The room was immense and superb. A large bathroom, a bedroom in a pure local style, a salon with flat screen TV , sofas,... and a garden...It was by far above expectations. Service is fantastic. The surroundings are great, with all balinese style , waterfalls, statues, temples, etc....It's very quiet. There are 4 restaurants...we tried 2....and both were great. You are sitting on a terrasse...overlooking the river, the valley...service is great. The lobby is gorgeous. Hard to find something negative to report. Confort, style, service and impressive location. What else?

Room Tip: Pool villa...

The first impressing things of the Royal Pita Maha will be: the stunning view of the jungle from the reception area; the constant sound of falling water; the amazement in enjoying your private pool.
I believe this is the best hotel I've ever stayed in.
Breakfast is huge and good. Do avoid dining in unless you intend to pay too much for very small courses (luckily, we had a gift voucher for a romantic dinner...it's not worth the adjective...it could be better to give honey moon guests a free access to the spa which as well is extremely expensive)...
The hotel provides its guests with a free shuttle bus service to/from the city center (one bus going every hour until 930 p.m.). Shuttle bus service shoiuld be extended up to 11 p.m. because it's very far from Ubud.

The RPH is really the Royal treatment in the most surreal location. We stayed at one of the new villas plastered against the side of the mountain with our own private endless swimming pool. The view was looking into a painting every morning. There is a choice of 3 restaurants to have your breakfast in (or your room) and I suggest you sample each one for it's own distinct views. Breakfast at the River dining area and you will be entertained by rafters shooting the mini rapids only a few meters from your table. The place itself is just serene and peacefull and it's easy to spend a full day there and enjoy all the facilities. The on the hour shuttle bus trip into Ubud (15min) gives a massive choice of dining and of course the markets, massages & boutique shopping. It's just so great to know that only 15mins back on the bus and your are back in paradise. The service is simply the best and then some. Dewi Andeni was our Front Office Manager and seemed to be one step ahead of us, for example, my wife was rubbing her stomach and Dewi was quick to offer her a cure for 'Bali Belly'
