Villa Indah Ubud

This is the perfect resort to stay at if you are going to Ubud. The most amazing view and off the centre. Spacious rooms and huge terraces and you do not run into more people than you chose to. The food was great too. They have no restaurant but you eat all your meals on your own terrace which is super lovely. The service is very good but could use a slighter less personal touch believe it or not (regarding only one person of staff). Good service to me is about making sure things are flawless and fluent and should almost not be noticed. I don't mean it in a harsh way I am just not on my holiday to please the staff - one lady was a bit too pushy for my taste, she was sort of fishing for compliments for her cooking skills and things like that. I think I was asked about three times every day if I wanted to order a massage. I do not want to feel like people are selling me things all the time when I am just relaxing outside my own room. I am there to have a romantic and private time with my man and do not want to be bothered with such things. Another small thing is that the day bed on the terrace of our room should be cleaned or replaced with a new one. It had stains so I never felt comfortable using it. Other than that it was awesome. I would recommend it!

Villa Indah is a lovely boutique hotel about 4km NW of Ubud central in the village of Kedewatan.
We stayed for 5 nights in room 8 (Villa 3, ground floor) and enjoyed our time here very much.

In general, I'd say everything was pretty good and the staff were friendly and accommodating at all times.
Our room and patio area was nice to spend time in especially early morning and at sunset.
The pool area is great with fantastic views over the Ayung River valley and the gardens are very well cared for.
Breakfast's are good and served to your room at whatever time you choose.

There were only a few small negatives about our stay.

Unlike villas 1 and 2 which are down the bottom overlooking the valley, villa 3 is up the top and next to some neighbouring yards. At roughly 4.30 every morning we were awoken to the constant noise of roosters crowing right next to our room. If this a problem for you, pay the extra and move down the hill to one of the other villas. I should point out however that our beds (complete with mosquito nets) were very comfortable.

On one hand, we liked being away from the bustle of Ubud and at other times we found it to be a bit isolated.
The hotel doesn't offer a free shuttle so it's Rp30,000 for a ride in which was slightly disappointing considering that most other hotels in Ubud would do this for free.
The busy road that runs through the village out the front of the hotel has nothing in the way of shops, restaurants or much of interest to the visitor so it was a couple of long drives into Ubud and back on most days.

The bathrooms could probably do with a bit of a facelift and the warped doors to the room wouldn't shut properly. In typical Ubud fashion, to lock your room you would run a padlock through two rings resulting in your door gaping open a couple of inches which allowed insects to get inside.
Also, it would have been nice to have some sort of chest of drawers to put smaller clothing items in.
Only minor problems I know, and at USD80 a night it's hard to complain too bitterly.

Would we return? Probably not.
Nothing against the hotel itself which was really nice, more to do with its location from Ubud.
In saying that, I would still recommend Villa Indah.

Fantastic location, just out of Ubud. Service was first class. Food a little pricey for what you get, but otherwise excellent value. Lovely pool and big rooms. Also enjoyed the outside space with breakfast table and sofa to relax on.

This was our third hotel in the Ubud area and for privacy and excellence of service it was the best. We wanted rest and relaxation and this hotel gave us all we desired. Although relatively close to the town centre (approx 4 k) the area is not tourist oriented. Local
people were so friendly entering into conversations and inviting us into their homes to
meet their families. The accommodation was excellent. 2 storey thatched villas each with a large well furnished bedroom with adjacent bathroom and very substantial
balcony with very comfortable furniture overlooking the rice fields and river. Apart from
reading and swimming in the pool our main activity was watching the rafters in the river
and walking in the local area. We walked into Ubud and took a taxi back for 1 evening meal but otherwise ate on our balcony appreciating the tropical darkness. A real highlight for me was the therapeauticic massages provided by a lady called Nyoman Kariyani Tel 087 861851676. She was the best deep tissue masseuse I have encountered in any country we have holidayed in and will come to any hotel in the Ubud area.

We were loath to leave and will return. It's a pity Bali is so far from Scotland

The Villa Indah, Kedewatan. Ubud
September 2008
seasoned traveller australia
We had the most amazing holiday at Villa Indah. A true boutique hotel with perfect rooms and furnishings, views you only dream about from the spacious verandahs. Metres above and looking down on the paddy fields and Ayung River. The staff were lovely, polite and only seemed to appear when needed. A little distance out of Ubud 5-10 minutes which we loved as Ubud is now so busy
these days. We can't wait to get back there very soon.
