We had a lovely one night stay at this hotel, but I think that you need to stay at least 2 nights to get the most out of all that's on offer. We stayed in the new wing, and the rooms were contemporary, and spacious. All the staff we came across were lovely, and having the guys valet park your car brings a nice touch of class to this hotel.
Spa was excellent, and very clean. Staff were very attentive, and my wife and I had massages which were very relaxing.
We didn't dine at the hotel in the evening, but we will next time we stay, as I've heard that the food and service is super. Breakfast was very civilized, with a good choice of options from the hot food menu. Well done Rockliffe Hall

Room Tip: Even the regular rooms were spacious, so the suites must be even better.

My Mum and I booked "tranquili-tea" which consisted of 3 hours use of the spa and gym facilities and a mini afternoon tea in the a Brasserie. When we arrived we were greeted by a lovely member of staff on the desk and then we were taken to the brasserie straight away by another lovely, friendly member of staff. A place was set for us to fill in a health and safety form and we were given some shots of juice, apple & beet root, carrot & orange and watermelon to drink while we filled in the form. We were then taken down to the spa, which is absolutely beautiful, even the changing room is great, we were given huge bath robes, slippers and there are unlimited towels. There was a big pool surround by beautiful stained glass windows, lounge chairs a juice bar with unlimited iced water and today's drink of lemon and ginger iced tea. The other room consisted of a hydro therapy pool, sauna, warm tiled beds, foot spa and ice room. There was also a sauna and steam room alongside the main pool. You could sit outside if you wanted to but just the views from the windows were beautiful enough. Our 3 hours flew by, there was separate shower cubicles with gorgeous shampoo, conditioner and body wash to use, then in the changing rooms there was hair dryers, cleansers, toners and moisturisers to use, all of which smelt and felt wonderful. We went up the brasserie where they had set a table for us by the window, we got a tea and coffee both came in their own pots so we got a couple of cups each, then our mini afternoon tea was certainly not mini! We got ham and pickle, cucumber and creme fraiche and crayfish in a sweet chilli mayonnaise sandwiches, a fruit scone each with raspberry or strawberry jam, butter and clotted cream, a large scotch egg, which had apricot in the sausage meat was delicious, and then 2 almond and passion fruit tarts, chocolate ganache in pastry cups and white chocolate fudge pieces topped with raspberries. We were so full when we'd finished it was absolutely gorgeous. All the staff were fantastic in there too. Overall it is a beautiful place with fantastic facilities and wonderful staff and beautiful food.

We booked into Rockcliffe Hall after spending a dreary day at the passport office in Durham and we were wowed! The staff who greeted us were uber friendly and very helpful. We did not have to stand at a counter to check in but seated at a desk and offered a drink while the details were collected. The room could not have been better and was of a size and standard very seldom seen in Europe, rather like a very expensive hotel in the USA. The comfort of the bed and the really good quality linens were very welcome. The room contained a large sofa, a day bed, desk and chairs and a very large flat screen telly. The bathroom was lovely with thick fluffy towels and lots of little bottles etc (sadly no shower cap though). We ate in the orangery and the food and service were exceptional. All the staff were trained to a very very high standard and were a pleasure to deal with. We are definitely going to go there again when we want a special treat. I cant comment on the spa etc as we did not get time to try them. If you are thinking of going there then don't hesitate. The golf course was a little difficult for our high handicaps but we enjoyed it none the less. Golf carts were available and once again the staff were helpful friendly and efficient. Well done rockcliffe hall!! Just one thing to know the course does not register on a GPS watch so take your pinseeker with you.

My partner and I dined here yesterday evening, to celebrate his 60th Birthday. We could not have had a more enjoyable experience and that includes the welcome, service and food. Superb surroundings, excellent dining facilities in the Orangey and the food was absolutely delicious.

The only fault I had was being charged £25.00 for one glass of wine. I just ask for a Shiraz as they didn't have my favourite Merlot, without realising that they were serving me a shiraz that was £64.00 a bottle!!!! A little cheeky really, but they were generous enough to reduce that particular glass of wine from £25.00 to £12.00. Just a word of advice, check the wine list before agreeing to their suggestions of wine!!

Our whole family stayed on Sat 21st , the welcome was very good all shown to our rooms, which have to be said are top class lovely views of the golf course and the TV over the bath a big hit with the teenagers ,
The only let down of the weekend was the meal , we had to pre order as there was 16 dining in the private room next to the orangey , 1st few course arrived ok although abit slow to have everyone eating at the same time , main complaint which was unforgivable all 16 had pre ordered and nowhere did it say the Veg and potatoes were extra,,,and surely a place that looks after every need and charges well for it would have realised this ? ,, so what arrived was just a steak and few mushrooms when we asked for some veg or chips TWO small containers of chips arrived not enough for one each , then when we had all waited too long and ate our meal , the veg arrived what an absolute joke.!!! The main reason for going was so we could sit down for the meal very poor , not wanting to cause a fuss for Mum and Dad we let it go , but that's all anyone now talks about.
The girls all went for a massage and treatments the following morning which was excellent .
Would I go again not sure .
