“Superb”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

We have recently enjoyed both lunch and afternoon tea at the Orangery and it is safe to say this is one of the finest dining experiences anywhere in the country. Staff are excellent as is everything about the place. Super surroundings and fantastic, first class food.

“Fantastic”
Reviewed 26 May 2014 via mobile

This is without doubt one of the best restaurants in the north of England. Everything about it is wonderful.

The food is second to non, the wine list is extensive and quality and the cocktails are very well made.

I think the real quality here is in the surroundings and the staff, who are friendly, welcoming and very good at what they do.

You will pay a premium for the pleasure of dining here but you will feel happy that you've done so.

“Standard has slipped”
Reviewed 18 May 2014

This is the first time I have been to the orangery since kenny Atkinson left.

I was shocked to see how the standard has slipped.

I opted for the taster menu, and was disappointed from beginning to end.

The waiters merely plonked dishes from the taster menu in front of me with no detail of what I was eating, I was not even offered the choice of a cheese board!

You will pay michelin star prices at the orangery, but the food served has never been further away.

However, the wine paring was very pleasant, and the restaurant is a lovely setting to eat. Shame about the food.

“No oranges”
Reviewed 16 May 2014

Had a superb afternoon tea in The Orangery at Rockliffe Hall Hotel. The staff were attentive without being intrusive. There were plenty of different teas and coffees to choose from; the sandwiches were tasty and could be exchanged if not suitable; the quiche was perfect and the only bad mark was for a very heavy cheese scone. The cakes, cherry scone and trifle were lovely but sadly I couldn't manage them all. However the thoughtful management provided boxes to take spare goodies home. The tea was a treat for a friend's birthday and it is worth telling staff of a special occasion as a small gift was provided.
I hope that there will soon be a small orange tree there to go with the name !!!
