Where do I start.. right from the moment we entered the hotel until we checked out, everything was awesome, the service, the rooms, the cleanliness - wow... I have decided to always book Sofitel anywhere I go here after. Transportation was very close and was able to commute into Paris and back to hotel with ease.
Just spent 5 days at this hotel I a junior suite, this is not up to the Sofitel standard and should be reflagged to one of their lesser brands.
Our suite was not ready upon arrival and we where told to give them an additional hour. After 90 minutes we inquired again and the room was still not ready.
The suite we where ultimately shown had hair in the bathtub. When we complained they sent up a member of the staff who simply picked up the hair and left.
When we asked if this is how they would treat a friend or guest to their own personal residence? The front desk person just froze up.
we simply wanted the suite on time and clean to the highest standards.
We found there to be a lack of space to unpack and store our clothe but experienced this at Sofitel properties across Europe .
They sent up a bottle of champagne to make amends which we never opened as it was never about getting something more than what we ordered a suite on time and clean.
It gets a little confusing with Accor, as it seems to be constantly re-flagging assorted properties. The Sofitel brand, at least, remains a solid and reliable choice. La Defense, an enclave of corporate headquarters and what-not, does not have you overlooking the Tuileries Garden, but the Metro sits just outside the hotel and its an easy, quick ride to the center of Paris or any part of the city you may wish to visit. I liked the hotel. It's oddly designed in some respects, but the rooms are well appointed and the breakfast service was first-rate. What we appreciated most about the hotel, however, was its staff, who were uniformly engaging, attentive and helpful. That includes the front-desk and the gentlemen who tends to vehicles in the labyrinthine underground of the La Defense. He was exceptionally gracious. All in all, a very well managed hotel.
The biggest problem of this hotel is the transport in Paris. Parisian taxi-drivers don't know, where is this hotel and how to get there. You have to learn the way from the center of Paris and show them the way. Really pain in the butt.
Other thing: in the middle of your stay you have to pay first three nights. They obviously are afraid, that you escape.
Quiet part of Paris near the center
Immediately upon arriving at this hotel we were greeted by a friendly and helpful staff, and received a x-welcome drink.
The hotel is located in the Defense area which makes it in the weekends a very quite area to reside.
The arch of La defense is in walking distance as is the subway station Esplanade of line 1.
So downtown is not far away using this means of transportation.
You can also get there via taxi.
All of the staff we met were very friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was great
My wife and I will surely return here
