We were traveling in India from the US to visit some family and took a side trip to Goa for some family beach time and relaxation. The host was very responsive and make the booking and check-in process easy to navigate. There wasn't much info or any reviews on the house when we booked, so I was a bit nervous going in somewhat blindly, so I have added some practical info at the end of this review for future guests!
The house is even better than pictured: extremely spacious in all the spaces with a fully and thoughtfully appointed kitchen. Incredibly clean and comfortable. The architecture was a real breath of fresh air from the usual heavy stone buildings of India and was elegant and well-conceived throughout. Beautiful bathrooms, a modern tv that we able to hook up our portable flash drive to watch movies.
The on-site caretaker was attentive, responsive and very kind and really made our stay comfortable and easy. After being house-bound for a day from a bout of food poisoning from a fancy restaurant, he went out of his way to offer to make a trip to the pharmacy and to help us in any way he could: really above and beyond.
The pool is sparking clean and was a welcome afternoon respite from the hot beach. The grounds are impeccably maintained, lush, private and secure. A real oasis from the busy streets around town.
some comments/tips for future guests:
1. Don't hesitate to book, the place will exceed your expectations!
2. I definitely thought twice about the high (but refundable) security deposit, but it really is a luxuriously appointed property and i can understand the owner's desire to maintain it's quality. We followed all of the guidelines in the house instructions and received a prompt refund of our entire deposit at the end of our stay. Both the owner and the caretaker were attentive, ethical and very fair in all aspects of our stay.
3. I had a bit of hard time judging from the map what the actual practical walking distance was to the beach but found that there are several lovely beaches within walking distance (it was a 5-10 minute easy, flat walk along the road that were comfortable making with our 5 and 7 year old children) or a short taxi ride away (we checked out some surf-ready beaches up the coastline where we could rent surfboards and boogie board), so don't be afraid to explore.
