“Peace and Quiet”
Reviewed 26 August 2013

If your looking for a quality hotel in a beautiful quiet setting then Crabwall Manor is the place. The Spa and facilities were first rate and the hotel was always clean and tidy. The staff were friendly and helpful and could not do enough for the guests. It is a place I would gladly visit again.

Room Tip: The ground floor rooms are probably the best location

We booked three rooms on a last minute bank holiday break and could not of picked a better hotel. All the rooms were beautifully decorated with large bathrooms, the spa was clean and offered all the usual facilities including a large pool! The hotel was in a perfect location just outside Chester set in large sumptuous gardens, we got a fantastic deal and definitely wound recommend!

Loved the hotel, every one was very friendly and room was stunning and clean. I spent most of the time in the spa, which is the reason i went, and it was excellent. Not as calm and tranquil as other spa's i have been to, but the staff more than made up for that disappointment. I had a very nice facial using top notch products. If you get chance, order tea and scone. I had a scone at the spa and it was so luxurious, no scone will live up to it again lol. Special gratitude to Phil and Zoe in the spa who really looked after me and were lovely lovely people.

My husband and I booked a two night break here, to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We managed to get a fantastic deal online. The building is very impressive and straight away we looked forward to our stay. We arrived at reception, which was very busy, we had quite a wait, while the receptionist finished her phone call, and we found quite unwelcoming, as the chairs were pulled right up to the desk, so it wasn't easy to sit down for check in.
We were shown to our room, which was newly refurbished and looked quite impressive, however, what looked like an enormous king sized bed with decorative headboard was actually 2 singles pushed together. The bathroom was massive, but not well thought out. The bath had such a high step to get in and out of, and as we are fit 30 somethings, I think that says something. I managed to fill this bath, entirely from the hot tap, to get a warm bath; my husband added a kettle full of boiling water to get a nice hot bath. The television hadn't be programmed, so we couldn't watch the news or anything else to wind down at night, we tried to sort this out a few times, in the end they offered us a change of room on the last night, but it just wasn't worth the hassle for us.
We had never been to Chester before and were very surprised there was no information leaflets of what to see or do or places to eat, either in our room or at reception. We spent quite a while trying to find a special place to eat on our actual anniversary, using our iPhones’.
The hotel doesn't offer robes when using the spa area, which we found quite unusual.
The spa area was nice, a lovely big pool, nice Jacuzzi and steam room, the sauna is tiny and you have to help yourself to water from the drinks machine, to get the heat up.
The breakfasts were nice and the staff were pleasant.
Check out was very brief with something along the lines of ''you don't need to do anything, bye.'' It would have been nice if they had asked us if we had enjoyed our stay.
Overall, the deal we got was cheaper than a travel lodge and nicer, as you'd expect, but I would have been very upset if we'd paid full price.

We stayed overnight at my wife's firm's annual do, and I was very impressed. We had a beautiful suite with an amazing 7' bath which made me feel like a kid again ( I'm 6')The breakfast was amazing with devilled kidneys, smoked kippers and kedgeree on the menu - a real Edwardian treat I shall never forget. I have no problem recommending Crabwall Manor unreservedly - try it!

The hotel looks very grand from the outside and is conveniently located. The room was nice with a HUGE bathroom and a four poster bed. Very poor phone and Wi-Fi signal and the TV did not have great reception but as only staying for one night, this was not a big issue. The bathroom window would not shut which was fine as it is August but meant a lot of bugs and creepy-crawlies made their way in. The room had a small balcony which had a lovely view.
Slept well on a comfortable bed overnight. Hot breakfast was made to order. There could be more of a selection of fresh fruit at the breakfast buffet. The serving staff at breakfast were excellent.

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony room with a country view.

found through trivago at an excellent price and couldn't believe the value for money. As guests of the hotel we had free use of a lovely little spa with a swimming pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi as well as the gym. Our room had a huge king sized bed, and a good sized bathroom, Breakfast was a cold buffet but the waitress also served hot food to our table. The staff were very professional and tried their best to please everyone which added class to the hotel. we also made use of the bar and stumbled upon a lovely old snooker room.
All in all a fantastic stay. I'd definitely recommend this hotel.
