I stayed here for one night only on my way to Wales for work. The hotel just lacks atmosphere and I did not enjoy my stay here to be honest. I waited about 10 minutes at the bar before being served and noticed that several others did too. Not sure where all the service staff were but there seemed to be a few reception staff, including who I presume was the manager/owner. The bed was uncomfortable, and breakfast in the morning was basic. What I did notice is that the sofas downstairs were covered in crumbs, food and other people's hair - not pleasant when you are trying to eat. More attention to cleaning needed! I would not stay here again, and would not recommend it in particular.

Took mum away for a 1 night stay to Chester and had a brilliant time! All staff were very welcoming and informative about the local area. Rooms were very large and comfortable. Managed to find a few moments to relax in the spa and have a few treatments. The beauty consultants were lovely and I'd recommend spa treatments with them anytime!
I will definitely re-visit for a longer stay next time!

Good hotel, however seems dated and in need of a little attention. My daughters room was complete with a king size bed so this was great and her facilities were better than ours as were in the 'old' part of the hotel. Bottles water is a nice touch. I don't know how this can be called a Spa hotel with such sparse facilities, a small pool, Jacuzzi, steam room for 4 people (max) and a sauna all adjacent to the pool. Better to spend your money and stay at a 'real spa'.
Breakfast adequate however it was luke warm and the croissants were burnt even the second batch when we asked for more.
Lounge area very smartly furnished with good comfortable seating. A stale smell was present in the hotel especially around the corridors and by the spa area.

Receptionist very welcoming indeed and interested in our visit to the hotel. Good location for visiting Chester and the Zoo.

Room Tip: Book a fully equipped Spa if you want to spend a day relaxing around the facilities this hotel cannot offer this for you.

The good;- beautiful settings excellent spa treatments and staff, massive room with high ceilings (executive room), super comfy, superking bed , very clean, clean bath and toilet.
The bad;- no champagne on arrival as my husband had requested as a surprise for our aniversary (though we did have a fruit platter and 2 large pieces of vanilla type sponge with "Happy Anniversary" written in chocolate. The furnishings i.e wardrobes, table and dressing table were VERY old, peeling and water stained. Limited toiletries i.e a pump bottle of handwash on the sink and one of combined hair & bodywash on the bath/shower.
The tea/coffee cups had obviously been washed in the handwash by housekeeping the next day as you could taste the perfume from it on them, they had also neglected to collect our used pots and champagne glasses from the previous day.
The mucky;- Although the gorgeous heavy brocade drapes must have cost an absolute fortune for the massive windows, they were thick with grey dust along the green edged trim, as was the edges of the sofa where the back cushion meets the seat, yuk! a poof of dust if you sat too heavy. There is also an OLD rattan white 3 tiered open shelf in the bathroom and the bottom tiers you can see the grey dust ingrained in the wicker...lovely, especially when housekeeping put lovely new bath towels on them (though they were white and clean). I just didnt feel clean in there. How can a head of housekeeping ever inspect these rooms and find them satisfactory I do not know??!. This hotel could be superb with a decent refurb of furniture and more attention to housekeeping. NOT an executive room by anyones standards!!

Room Tip: We had room number 4 an "executive room" dont have that one!
