Stayed here for a long weekend as part of my Father in Law's Naval Reunion, 100 people mostly over 65, had a great time. Ok the hotel is a little worn in places, but we found it very clean & tidy, and the staff always willing, food was very good. Some of the older members of the group thought the drinks at the bar were expensive, but I guess they are set at normal prices.

Only Criticism some floors don't have lifts and although the females on reception offered to take luggage upstairs, the older gentlemen declined, I think the hotel should have been more positive "I will take your luggage to your room" as oppose "would you like ...!

Stayed at the Mollington Banastre in Chester for 3 days with friends recently. Was looking for a relaxing break and some chill out time.... definitely found it here. The staff were friendly and interested in making us feel as welcome as possible. The manager was lovely and I noticed that she spoke to everyone to check they were ok. We'd arrived quite late on our first night after a long trip and just wanted a quick something to eat before having a couple of drinks... wasn't a problem at all, the bar food that we ate was really good value for money and tasted lovely! Breakfast on our first day was table service but we were told the next 2 days would be buffet service - all our breakfasts were lovely - we were really impressed. Our rooms were fresh and clean and the bathrooms sparkled. The bar had a really nice atmosphere and one night had a pianist who would play tunes to request... there was a real mix of ages and groups which all added to the ambience. I tried the spa for a couple of treatments and thought that it was somewhere I'd definitely recommend to friends. I couldn't find fault with anything at the hotel as the rooms were clean, beds comfy, staff friendly and it delivered exactly what we hoped and next time we come back to the area we're definitely going to book again.

My wife and I had a 3 night stay at the Mollington Banastre and were overall very impressed with what was on offer. Staff were all very polite and helpful and the general manager (lovely Irish lady) made us and both and other residents very welcome. We ate bar meals on two occasions and they were excellent both times. Drinks were very reasonably priced for a 4* hotel.
There is a Spa attached to the hotel that residents are free to use while staying there. We also paid a visit to the sister hotel which was 5 minutes walk away and had a drink. Looked very nice and should we visit Chester again will probably look at giving it a try.
The hotel itself was a couple of miles outside Chester but only a £4.50 taxi journey to the center. All in all a great time was had.

I originally wanted to stay at Crabwall Manor hotel but as they were full they suggested their sister hotel the Mollington Banastre. I had not stayed there before and wasn't sure if it was what I wanted. Upon arrival I was a little disappointed as the hotel frontage was not what I was expecting however once inside the hotel is beautiful, tastfully decorated with a lovely relaxing lounge/bar area and once at the back of the hotel it is really stunning with the old manor house and restaurant. Our bedroom was increadibly clean and nicely decorated with everything we needed. We also got to use the leisure club which was surprisingly large with beauty rooms & a large pool and even has squash courts. All in all I was impressed with the hotel as having read some reviews on trip advisor I wasnt sure we would enjoy it. Would definitely recomment it to friends as it is good value for money

We stayed at the Mollington Banastre for 3 night midweek, and found it a pleasant experience.

I found the hotel on the internet, and initially wanted a double room but needed assurance there would be space for a travel cot. On telephoning the hotel, we were given a family room for the same price as a double. The room was huge, with more than enough room for two plus a baby. Unfortunately it was on the third floor; apparently there was a lift, but we were told it was on "the other side of the hotel" and we couldn't actually find it (no problem though, we kept the pram in the car).

The room needed redecoration and refurbishment: the furniture was old and the bed base was too small for the mattress, meaning it hung over the sides. The en-suite was large, but the cistern refused to refill unless the handle was moved into exactly the correct position. Also, one of two radiators could not be turned off, meaning we had to leave a window open whenever we were in the room. However, the rooms either side of ours were being redecorated while we were there, so presumably ours would be once we moved out.

The gym and pool were good, with the pool having a section about 18 inches deep, perfect for my 1 year old to cruise around the edges unaided.

We had bar food one night, which was good, and there's a Carvery one mile up the road (£3.95 each) if you don't fancy the restaurant.

The staff were friendly and approachable.

Booked a special deal with Best Western and thoroughly enjoyed our break. The star attraction is the shopping in Chester. There is a retail park on the edge of town which is outstanding, and the town itself has a brilliant range of interesting shops + plenty of history. I walked the city wall - highly recommended.

The hotel, appart from one or two tired fixtures, was pretty good, but excellent when it came to value for money. We enjoyed nice rooms, a fab dinner both nights, full breakfast, two beauty treatments each, use of the gym and pool all for £75 PPPN.

Staff were welcoming and friendly - makes all the difference.

We will go again but make sure the races are on next time!

Jim

My partner had booked this hotel as a surprise as I wanted to visit Chester. It is a short cab ride away from the railway station (£5).We arrived at Chester railway station at 10a.m. it does not have a left luggage area so we caught a taxi to the hotel and the staff were happy to look after our bags for us until we came back later in the evening. We then walked along the canal back to Chester city centre. It only took about 40 minutes and was a lovely walk. We spent the day in Chester and ate lunch there before walking back along the canal to the hotel. We checked in without any problems and booked a table for dinner that evening. Our room was on the first floor. There is a small lift right near the stairs but we didn't spot this til later. Our room was comfortable. Not overly large but had everything there that we needed - tea, coffee, iron, ironing board, trouser press and hair dryer. Dinner was a delight. Again we were very impressed by the attentiveness and friendliness of the staff. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. After dinner we retired to the lounge where an excellent pianist was playing. We had coffee and Bailey's here and chatted to another couple. This was their second trip to the hotel. Whilst in the lounge area we were well looked after by the friendly staff. Breakfast the next morning was a buffet affair but plenty of choice and the food was very good and plentiful. We sat in the conservatory area of the dining room and had a view of the beautiful grounds which were covered in snow. We then went to the spa and fitness area. We enjoyed a swim in the pool and took advantage of the sauna. The pool was split into 3 areas one level for babies and toddlers, one level for slightly older children and then the main pool area. There were a couple of squash courts and a very well equipped gym. The gym, pool, showers and changing rooms were the best I have experienced at any hotel. Again the staff were very friendly and helpful. Afterwards we had a coffee in the cafe area overlooking the pool. We didn't book any spa treatments so cannot comment on this area. We booked out of our room at 11a.m. Again no problems and a very pleasant receptionist. As our train was not until later in the afternoon the staff again obliged us by looking after our luggage whilst we went for a walk around the local area. We came back and the receptionist order as a cab which arrived promptly to take us to the railway station. The whole weekend was lovely and we found Chester to be a very friendly place.
