Owned by the NASUWT it is a fine old building in a rural setting with many walks nearby right out of the door. Food was excellent. Rooms in the accommodation block are great for a nostalgic University Halls of Residence experience. Comfy and spotless. Rooms in the old building are more varied. Friendly bar staff.

Room Tip: Ask for the room the Union President uses.

Not swish/hi-tech but a solid 7/10, nice place easy to reach from Junction 1 M42/A38, set back from the B-road in pleasant semi-rural setting. Conference/meeting rooms in a small modern block behind the historic house with a central lounge for breakouts/tea/coffee/pastries & large bar in an annex to the main building where the restaurant is. Food enjoyable with decent breakfast, hot buffet & salad bar at lunch, 3 course table d'hote in the evening (e.g. last night choices including garlic mushrooms/tomato & mozzarella salad/ soup,chicken/stroganoff/trout, etc). My double small with no hairdryer when you really would expect one, only shower caps/dove soap dispensers on the wall, but clean & comfortable with flatscreen tv & tea/coffee/hot choc (no biscuits). Can't comment on wifi or the large conference room but good venue for a short training course.

Room Tip: No view from 54 (1st floor) but rooms at the front should have one. Not sure if there's a lift or not but several bedrooms are on the ground floor if mobility is an issue. Bring a hairdryer though!

The venue is easily accesible from the motorway and has plenty of secure parking. There is a bar and dining room. The rooms are like small Travel Inn rooms with en-suite bathrooms. This place is an ideal venue for a conference (the conference room is large any airy) or as a venue for a reception when guests want to stay over.
