Description: If you’re looking for a friendly independent pub restaurant in the picturesque Faversham area, then look no further. Local beers, wines & ciders and a choice from the constantly changing selection of unique homemade dishes from our blackboard come as standard in our family-run country pub. Tucked away in an area of outstanding natural beauty between the historical towns of Maidstone, Ashford and Faversham, The Plough inhabits a unique space amongst Kent’s rolling hills and lush farmland. Our unspoilt surroundings in ‘The Garden of England’ create the perfect setting for enjoying the fresh, locally-sourced meals we serve here. Just come and see for yourself. There’s plenty to see and do nearby, and we’re a great stop-off for walkers and cyclists alike. A short drive from Faversham is medieval Leeds Castle, the home of Catherine of Aragon in the sixteenth century, with parts dating back to the early 1100’s. We also enjoy stunning views out to Herne Bay, a popular Victorian seaside town known for its pier, pretty shingle beach and pastel-coloured huts along the seafront. Other local attractions are Farming World in Faversham for a day of family fun, and some of Kent’s leading vineyards for those who are young at heart. Whether you’re looking for somewhere to enjoy a warm and lazy afternoon taking in the stunning views from our gardens or seeking the unbeatable cosiness of an open log fire in the winter, we look forward to welcoming you to The Plough Inn.

Whilst holidaying in Kent we chose the Plough for a meal because of its great reviews and we were not disappointed. Finding the pub in the picturesque lanes of Kent was the first joy (your sat nav takes you straight there if you put the post code in) then you get a cheery welcome as soon as you walk through the door and the staff achieve just the right balance of service and friendliness. The menu is varied and imaginative with a lovely selection of specials but we chose from the main menu and I can highly recommend the pork which was tender and delicious but the stand out dish for me was the Crab Tian starter, I have rarely enjoyed a starter so much anywhere, another tip try the homemade ice creams and sorbets they are delicious. Superb food, lovely staff, lively friendly atmosphere and all at reasonable prices, the owners have got it just right.

Thank you for taking the time to review the Plough Inn. It was a delight to meet you both and it is lovely to hear again about how much you enjoyed your meal with us. We have received many comments about the Crab Tian since it arrived on the menu, it is going to be a tough one to replace when the time comes! Hope to see you again next time you are in our neck of the woods. Marianne & Richard

The food we had was local, thoughtfully prepared, served and tasted devine. The local black bream was splendid.
The staff were friendly and casual but attentive, a perfect balance.
Will go back again and look forward to walking there in the winter to enjoy a pint beside the fire.

This is a proper pub with proper food. Sorry, I didn't actually eat here but I had a good look at other people's and all the sights and sounds were positive! The ambience is comfortable, rustic and pub-like, not over-designed or shabby chic - just a lovely, welcoming old pub. THere are lots of little rooms with twists and turns inside and out. It serves local produce, local ale, lager and even local soft drinks. Not the cheapest food but it did look good and other reports have been resoundingly positive.

The Plough is in the middle of a beautiful part of Kent, surrounded by a large garden, then fields. Owners Richard and Marianne and staff were delightful, giving us permission to picnic (altho we didn't in the end as we had eaten earlier) and our children to play in their field and making us all feel very welcome. Really, really liked it.

We booked for a Tuesday night - and it was full - lots of local real ales and food, just the local kent experience we were looking for. Beware though - closed on a Sun night and all day Monday but probably good as we couldn't overindulge too much during our stay to the nearby Thorpe Farm! Very friendly staff and food was very tasty and well presented. Would definately go back.

Returned once again to the Plough – on this occasion to celebrate my birthday.

As always a very warm, friendly and genuine welcome from Marianne and her team with a nice range of well kept real ales … I can definitely recommend the Musket Brewery for all those who have not tried it yet!

Richards’ menu had plenty of variety to offer however my own section of the Pigeon Breast starter being the a best pigeon breast I have ever had to pleasure to enjoy. The other starters and main courses were of course equally cooked to perfection and well presented.

I opted for cheeseboard desert and was surprise by the unexpected efforts of our waiter Hugh who having found out it was my birthday went to the trouble of adding a single candle to the wooden board AND then engaging the rest of the bar to sing Happy Birthday!.

This really sums up the Plough – a great pub, with an excellant team lead by both Marianne & Richard, in an lovely location offering tremendous food and … importantly … always striving to create a great experience for everyone.

We are definitely going to back many more times before my next Birthday!
