Time to put the feet up.
Very useful to know which direction any smoke is going to travel.
This is a view of our 'shower with a view'.
The multi-purpose field shelter.
In side the field shelter.Space for cooking, eating or heating water for washing up or shower.
A very comfortable settee in the glass house sitting area.Great on a rainy day!
A lovely place to eat for a change and out of the wind. This too is under glass amid the plants..
A beautiful splash of colour.

What can I say...

As 2 busy mums with hectic lives this booking was a gamble !
Oh what a lovely surprise. Arrived at dusk and was greeted by a friendly gentleman called Bob, who owns the YURT , Enthusiastically he showed us around our little site, our home for 2 days.
When he left we decided to dive straight in at the deep end and cook on an open fire. Now bare this in mind that neither of us were girl guides...

We rustled up our supper with squeals of delight. Not only did we create fire, cooked a suitably edible meal, the camp was still standing after there event too !!!

With full bellies we went to sleep on our first night in the cosy surroundings.

This is a must if you have small children, the field is a kids paradise for imagination & exploration. As middle aged mums we loved every minute of it.
*10 minutes by car to the beach.
*10 minutes by car to the nearest village.
* Plenty to do and see for all ages.
*30 minutes to Gunwarf Quays shopping.
Bob & Nancy have kindly shown that going back to basics this day and age, really is a must for everyone. A great way of winding down and jumping off of the hamster wheel even if it is only for a little while.

“What a treat”
Reviewed 17 February 2017 for a stay in February 2017

It was my partners birthday treat, to get away from it all and this break done just that. Lovely yurt with huge comfy bed, an outside kitchen, cooking over an open fire, an outside shower which apparently is so much better than it sounds on a winters day, but for us less adventurous there is a proper shower and toilet which is equally as nice.
The greenhouse with the comfy sofa and table and chairs, great for the colder days.
Long walks and great scenery,
We are looking forward to a return visit in the summer, when the experience will be totally different but just as wonderfully.
Highly recommend this great piece of natural living.

Carolyn

“Fantastic relaxing escape from reality”
Reviewed 18 August 2016 for a stay in May 2016

The stay was with my wife and another couple who enjoy holidaying together, we stayed over May bank holiday weekend for 3 nights. The yurt in a field was an excellent retreat from from the hustle and bustle of daily life, with an entire field to have to yourselves giving space to think and a lovely yurt to cosy up in.

The hosts were absolutely lovely, they live in a house in an adjacent field, but you wouldn't be able to tell while your staying there as its quite and they give you plenty of space. They are always willing to help - directions, walks etc and I believe for a small fee they'll heat up your water for you so you can have a shower without doing it yourself, however we found that was part of the fun.

Cooking can be done on one of two gas stoves, or a BBQ/firepit or the log burner. You can buy gas off them for a good price, (~£1/can) and they'll provide a large amount of wood for fires/log burner. Approx 1hr walk to the beach through public footpaths. We thought it might get cold at night in the Yurt, but the wood burner made it hotter than the sun, so I'm sure it would be plenty warm enough even in the coldest winter nights!

The only negative was the toilet was a chemical loo, rather than the compost toilet which used to be used there - although it was very clean and was functional.

Overall a great break for all of us.

“Back to Basics”
Reviewed 10 July 2016 for a stay in July 2016

Met by the friendly owner who showed us quickly round the site. Scenic special area with lovely cosy yurt. We played round the tracks on our bikes for hours and made plenty of fires, cutting wood up for the fire. We made full breakfast on the fire, I recommend building it up huge, we didn't meaning we had to cook holding pots closer to the flames. With mixed weather and rough sea, we explored the marina at dell Quay and made full use of the greenhouse for games. The hot bath and shower is a great touch as is the fridge.

Advantages
- Items provided - Torches, floodlights, comfy beds, plenty wood and lighters for the fire, utensils etc.
- Quiet.
- Facilities - Toilet (not bad), bikes, indoor space, shower, bath, fire areas.
- Toast on the fire using the grill piece is delicious.
Disadvantages
- Paths overgrown with nettles and brambles (nettles in shower).
- Greenhouse leaking and smashed panels meant rain spraying in.

Thank you for this feedback, although I am a little disappointed that we didn't get our usual 5/5 stars that we have become used to.
I will get the lawn mower out and tackle those paths and maybe make them a little wider, not too wide though.
I will also make a point of dealing with any undergrowth near the shower, and try to replace a s a p the glass panels that were lost in that really bad storm we had not so long ago. I hadn't bothered to date as it can get rather too hot in there sometimes.

“Fabulous, can't wait for the next stay”
Reviewed 30 June 2016 for a stay in June 2016

From the moment we opened the door to the Yurt we knew it was going to be a wonderful stay, The Yurt itself was everything we could wish for, comfy bed, log burner, and everything you would need. The camp kitchen was the best equipped I have seen. The outdoor shower is a must even if its raining. There is very little you need to take, we over packed on this occasion. Cooking outside makes everything taste so much better especially if you are using Bobs free range eggs. It poured down the last day but that didn't matter we just hunkered down with the log burner on and stayed toasty and warm. Don't be afraid of the loo, I didn't encounter anything nasty or surprising. Oh and the cream tea on arrival was a welcome treat. Thank you Bob and Nancy, we will be back.

“Lovely and peaceful”
Reviewed 8 June 2016 for a stay in September 2015

I booked the yurt for two nights in September last year as a surprise for my husband's birthday. I kept it a secret and he had no idea what was going on as we followed Bob across his land down to the field - he was really not expecting a yurt (but was very pleasantly surprised!)
Bob was lovely and helpful and the things he's built are absolutely wonderful - I was particularly impressed by the shower! There's something very therapeutic about taking a shower or a tin bath out in the open with the sounds of nature all around you. There were also fresh eggs available, which was wonderful.
The yurt itself is beautiful and cosy - if it's on the chilly side it doesn't take long to warm up with the log burning fire. The second evening we stayed, we enjoyed sitting outside in the field with a fire looking up at the stars and listening to owls before going inside to get nice and toasty and playing a game of draughts.
We enjoyed exploring the local area and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our least favourite thing was the composting toilet - it is quite a novelty and of course wonderfully eco friendly - but it is a bit smelly (and a bit scary to visit at night as spiders seem to like it in there and my husband's quite afraid of spiders).
