Spent a week in August with friends in Ballyhoura mountain lodges - everything was provided in the accommodation as advertised on the website. The beds were comfy and the place offered beautiful tranquility. Ita was a great source of local knowledge and very helpful - looking forward to returning in the future
It was so nice to get such a peaceful weekend away with no phones or Internet! (For those who want there is Free Wifi at Reception and phones do work outside the cabin). We had such a relaxing time at The Ballyhoura Forest Homes and were able to get out on some great walks in the area with our dog. The Ballyhoura Mountains have great walks and in some areas the dog does need to be on the lead - but there are also enough places for the dog to run! We also visited the Doneraile Wildlife Park which is a beautfiul national park not too far from the cabin. The free park is open till 8pm in summer and 5pm in winter. The dog came with us and we had a good 6km walk about and saw lots of lovely deer!
The cabin we stayed in was very spacious, perfectly clean and very quiet and comfortable! You need to bring the basics with you but there are shops not too much of a drive away if you forget anything. We also brought fuel with us and had cosy evening by the fire. Ita was very helpful in giving directions to get us there and also tips about things to do in the area.
We were really impressed by the high standard of the holiday homes the scenic and relaxing area and the cleanliness. Would highly recommend and already have told friends of this great find! We will be staying there again I'm sure!
