“Another Happy return”
Reviewed 28 July 2013

This was our fourth time staying at Reefview, and everything we said in previous reviews still holds true. Karol & Nick's thoughtfulness and helpfulness never cease to amaze us. Nick organised a deep sea fishing trip for Robert which he thoroughly enjoyed while I, Fran, had a first class manicure and pedicure , arranged by Karol,on my own balcony for a very reasonable sum - a luxury you would not get at home. The rest of the time was spent lazing on the beach and on our balcony, chatting, and generally doing very little - reading and a bit of photography and the occasional walk. We had a car and travelled to some interesting places and lovely restaurants recommended by Karol. She also did all the arranging of a helicopter flight over the volcano on Montserrat which was wonderful. It is great to have someone to do the booking of trips - saves a lot of hassle.
Looking forward to next year already!

The family and I spent 6 nights at Reefview before heading to Montserrat for a few days. Karole and Nick were great hosts and very informative giving us constant hints on where to go, what to do and where to eat. They also took care of arranging a car, looking in to tours, and offering to set us up with various services. (taxi, tours, cruises, snorkeling guides, etc)

The property is in very good shape and seemed to be in a constant state of upgrading and beautifing....vs repairing and fixing that may be seen at other places. The grounds were garden like and their pets were big hits with our kids. We stayed in the Garden View appartment and it was a great size for a family of 4 (kids 7yo and 12yo). They did have AC and laundry machine available for a fee. We only would have liked AC during the late afternoons, evenings were fine without it given the breeze coming across property.

While there is a beach about 100 yards away, it is a natural beach and nice for snorkeling but not the best for swimming. For a swimming beach you have many excellent options within a close drive or taxi/bus ride. The property itself is in an excellent location to easily get to many of the beaches and sights we wanted to visit.

For shopping, there is a good size grocery store (Epicurian) about 15 minutes away at Jolly Harbor. You can also frequent quite a few restarants without having to go more than 15 minutes away. We particularly loved Heneritta's. It's a small pastry shop just down the street from Reefview run by a sweet older woman and her sister. We stopped there almost daily picking up rot's, meat pies, coconut pies, bread pudding, currant rolls, etc. To quote my wife upon taking a bit of a currant roll "it's the most incredible pastry I have every had" and my wife is Portuguese so it's a huge compliment (big sweets culture). She also does meals on request for pick up which we did as well. Excellent food at and very good price.

The only issue we had was that we left our snorkeling gear on the deck to dry out and one of our masks came up missing on the second day at Reefview. Based on what sounded like hushed chastizing by Carole with our neighbors that that I overheard from our bedroom, I suspect they were the ones that took the mask since it miraculously reappeared on the afternoon before we were to leave. It showed up under the fins that we had moved every day multiple times as we went out for the day to snorkel. They were also the only other guests on the property. Should I have left the gear out to dry...probably not, but given the serene gated environment I let my guard down.

Room Tip: Next time we will try to secure the Penthouse Apartment. It was the same as the Garden View but on t...

Have just spent 2 great weeks staying with Karoll & Nick. Fabulous hosts who can't do enough to ensure you have a marvellous stay and get a feel for the real Antigua. The penthouse apartment has everything you need, is bright & breezy, we didn't need the aircon, and has lovely views
The village is on your doorstep where you can get a taste of the local food, must try Chappies and Henriettas, everyone is very friendly. The local beaches are a couple of minutes away, if you're not hiring a car the buses are frequent and fun - Turners and Darkwood are excellent. There are plenty of good places to eat at all price levels, everyone knows Karoll & Nick so you're guaranteed a warm welcome. To be honest we were so relaxed we didn't feel the need to do many trips but the visit to Stingray City was good fun. Overall one of the most fun and relaxing holidays we've had, can't wait to go back. Thanks Karoll & Nick for a great holiday, including the hangovers :-) love Sam & Neil x

Reefview was a great place to experience the peaceful Antigua especially after a week at hectic Antigua Sail week. The apartment (Seaview) was comfortable and well equipped. Karrol and Nick were always happy to help with anything asked of them, such as providing beach chairs to a local style Barbecue. We enjoyed a dinner at Sheer Rocks, a superb restaurant within a few minutes drive away, and lunch at Dennis beach bar. We had plenty of opportunity to visit the multiple beaches around with swims in the sea everyday at a different beach, plus went shopping for Fresh fish and lobster at the fishing port round the corner (literally) at Urlings harbour. The apartment was a good base for a very relaxing holiday.

Room Tip: The penthouse apartment has the better view, but the Seaview apartment is better for access and barb...

Stay at the Reefview and experience the 'real' Antigua. Everyone on the coast knows Karrol & Nick and will give you special attention when you mention their names. Local restaurants and shops are an easy walk, and the bus/taxi stops at the top of the road -- which can take you to the 'big city' as well as some of the best beaches in the Caribbean. Karrol & Nick are wonderful resources and help to enjoy the island and their apartments are comfortable and completely stocked if you want to cook your own. Very relaxing and quiet.

Room Tip: chose Nick's apartment (he built it, he doesn't live in it) for a more rustic stay (outdoor...

Permit being Permit are a frustrating experience for any angler.
Having said that Captain Nick will give 110% effort in getting his clients in casting range of a surprisingly large number of Permit, albeit they showed in loners and the occasional pair or three, but never a school like you may find in Key West.
The fishery is relatively small, and should you really need more of a challenge, the coral heads are a serious impediment to lande
Ing one, should you do everything just right for the umteenth time and that #*!@/^ Permit decide to eat your fly and you have the cool not to stip the fly away too soon....then the companion snapper does not beat the Permit to your fly.
If all the stars and moons Aline, catching a Permit with Captain Nick is truly an thrilling, satisfying experience ; one I would highly recommend for an experienced fly fisherman!
I would be happy to fish( or quaff a cold beer) with Nick anytime, any place.

After a long hard winter and an hour's delay at Gatwick due to ice on the wings, we flew away to a bejou destination in Antigua. What a welcome from Karrol and Nick! Our hosts did all they could to ensure their guests were comfortable and well provided for.

The apartment was ideally placed to explore the island. A bus trip to St John's enabled us to see Caribbean life past and present. At the museum a helpful archivist helped us source family material from a previous generation and the part that the past has moulded in the present.

Our little yellow motor enabled us to travel far and wide to explore the highest peak and the warmest beach, to see the natural vistas, sketch and photograph many colourful places off the beaten track.

The local folk were so welcoming and friendly. At a local Easter Fayre an elderly lady, her face shining with age and gentleness, took us strangers under her wing and guided us to food and drink - so gracious. An aspiring youth group added to the carefree atmosphere with their beautifully melodious steel drums.

Not for us the cloistered resort with guarded gate but the bustle when you wanted it or the solitude and sun on the many public beaches if you sought that.

Thank you Nick and Karrol for all the effort you put into making this such an enjoyable trip and stay on your island!
