We had the pleasure of staying with Karoll and Nick in the penthouse apartment. It was clean, bright and had beautiful views from the deck. We found our hosts to be friendly and trustworthy - they helped us plan our days and made great recommendations for trips and dining. My husband went fishing with Nick one day and caught a huge king mackeral , which Nick cooked up for dinnter and another day we both went snorkling with our hosts on Cades Reef and it was some of the best snorkling we've done. We saw stingrays, all sorts of fish and even a sea turtle! We ate at OJ's beach bar down the road 2 nights and they had some excellent jazz players - we really enjoyed them. We spent a couple of days at Turner's Beach, which we found fun but it got a little crowded when the cruise ships came in. Karoll also set us up on a day trip to Barbuda with Ruben - he took us for a tour of the island and then we went to his quiet bungalows via panga across the lagoon, thru the mangroves to the tip of Goat Island - noone else there and he cooked us the most delicious lobster lunch and kept us in yummy rum punch and cold drinks all afternoon. A day we'll never forget!

Finally, my husband and I fell in love with a little stray island pup and Karoll worked tirelessly to help us get her home with us to the US. Coco is now part of our family and learning to love the cold!

We were initially a bit hesitant like the other reviewer about wiring money , but I can assure you that the Williams are honest and hardworking folks.

One thing about staying at the Reef View apartments is that unlike staying in a resort that insulates you from the environment, you are much closer to the local culture and people, and you have a better appreciation of what living on an island might be like. It offers a whole different perspective on a vacation, and that for us is one of the points that made this such an interesting vacation.

:-) I'm still laughing about the previous review, especially about the "Violent crime" and what the U.S. State Department says ... Perhaps Antigua will be bombed soon!
Jokes aside, the island is beautiful and the location of the Reef View as a strategic midway between St.John 's and English Harbor, near Jolly Harbor for shopping and with possibility to go without too much hardship on the east coast.
The house is beautiful. We were at the Reef View Garden which is composed of a large living room with sofa bed and fully equipped kitchen, a room just for me my wife and our daughter two years in baby coat and a spacious bathroom.
We enjoyed the terrace outside (which is also seen in photos on the web), where we spent a good time sipping a good rum at night after returning from a long day and even our breakfast while admiring the flowers and hummingbirds.
We look just for that: a clean apartment, a tranquil and familiar as the base for our trips, just what the web we sent the Reef View.
As Karoll and Dick absolutely nothing to say, two peaceful and honest people who live their lives trying to spend a pleasant holiday for their guests.
The rules were clear from the start, including security, and to be honest, I was a bit 'scared for any damage that my child could cause, but the reality was quite different.
Even myself have accidentally broken a mirror in the room and Karoll did not want even one cent for repair.
Unfortunately we have not made any boat trip with Dick, as the sea in those 12 days was a bit 'rough and a bit' murky for snorkelling. I must say that I appreciated Karoll and Dick because they told me that.
Karoll has always been kind to my daughter and she gave her a lot of games just arrived.
The fantastic parrot Reef View has done the rest ...
What to say? I envy all of you who are going there!

I stayed at Reefview in November and fell in love with this beautiful corner of Antigua. The sea is just a few moments walk away from the apartments past flowery shrubs, birds and butterflies. Although the water is shallow here inside the reef we had lovely early morning swims there, looking across to Montserrat and watching pelicans and, once, an osprey, fish in the water very close by to us. This little section of coast was perfect for me as a beginner snorkeller as well, no boats or big waves to worry about and I saw lots of beautiful reef fish and even a young barracuda just a few yards from the shore. Perfect Caribbean beaches with more sand and surf were just a few minutes drive away - Nest, Turners and Darkwood were all fabulous in their own individual ways. Although we explored a bit further afield as well I would have been quite content to spend the whole 8 days within a mile or two of the apartments. The garden at Reefview is beautiful and we saw lots of amazing wildlife from our own back door as well as enjoying times with Jabba, Ossy and Cassius. On the penultimate day of my trip we went out snorkelling on the reef with Nick & Karoll - a completely amazing experience which I won't ever forget, truly an underwater wonderland! Nick & Karoll are so welcoming & very good company, I don't think I've ever been made to feel more at home on a holiday. I would love to go back soon!

We had a brilliant holiday at Reef View. Karoll and Nick are great hosts, from the first patent rum punches and tasty welcome BBQ to the excellent recommendations for quiet, pristine beaches, jolly bars (loved 'Chappies' and 'The Nest') and great food. The 'Love Shack' is a delightful place to stay - a touch of Robinson Crusoe with style; simple, very comfortable and romantic. Great views over reef and ocean to distant, smoking Montserrat. Pelicans wheel lazily overhead while hummingbirds come and go in the pretty garden. Heart-stopping sunsets.
It was our first time to Antigua and we quickly realised we were staying in a fantastic location. It was a great suggestion of Karoll's to rent a jeep and we buzzed about easily, exploring beautiful beaches, taking in some good live music and enjoying the perfect climate. English harbour on Christmas Day and Shirley Heights on Sunday are good fun. Very easy island and a relaxed, local vibe.

We stayed for a week. The penthouse apt was very nice and cozy. Everything you need in terms of kitchen, dishes, grill, etc. Karoll made us rum punch upon arrival. Very nice. It's definitely island living, not a 5 star resort. So if you're into that 5 star resort stuff, this is not the place for you. If you want to experience living among locals and just chilling out, grilling for meals, this is it. Roosters crow, dogs are barking too, you can hear the tree frogs, wind and rain showers. It took us about a day or two to get used to it, but then it was nice. The location is great bc it is 5 minutes away from the beaches that I liked (Darkwood, Turner, Nest). On non-cruise ship days, we had the beach almost to ourselves. Get a car though. We felt a bit stranded since nothing was really walking distance. Chappy's is the only restaurant within walking distance and if you're lucky on a weekend, there is one roadside food stand (both were excellent local foodwise). Beach by the apt was not very beachy. Although we did walk to the left of the beach one day for about 2 miles and got to this pier where we had our own little private beach where I sat in the knee deep water and fish swam around me. It was a trek and at times through waist deep water, but worth it.

Nick and Karoll were really nice and friendly. They told us where to go and how to get there. They have two dogs, Ozzie and Jabba as well as a few cats and a parrot. Ozzie and Jabba were awesome. They don't bother you if you're not into them but if you like dogs, they were great. Ozzie sometimes knocked on the door for a treat (I had some from our dog back home).

Deep Sea Fishing - We also took a deep sea fishing trip with Nick. It was awesome. We caught a spanish mackerel and some barracuda and a few jack horse fish. We brought the mackerel back and grilled it and made fish tacos the next day. Yum. Nick was great. He really knows his stuff and puts a lot of effort into doing the whole 9 yards, bait, tackle, lures, etc. He also knows where to go where you are most likely to find fish and has one of those fish finder things on board. You can also tell this is what he loves to do. Highly recommend. Take a dramamine though! The Antiguan sea can be angry and choppy. Ask Karoll to send you a fishing video. It convinced us and our trip was just like it.

Overall, highly recommend!

Review View Apartments are a beautifully presented set of self catering apartments set in Cades bay. The fact that they are slightly off the beaten track for most visitors only adds to their charm and gives a more authentic Caribean vibe than the large apartment complexes in and around Jolly Harbour.

We stayed in the penthouse apartment which afforded excellent views of the sunset across Cades reef as well as an excellent vantage point for spotting the many humming birds that inhabit the surrounding gardens. The rooms were clean and well equiped with lots of nice touches.

Carole and Nick who run the apartments and also live onsite are warm and accomodating people and helped make the holiday for us. To be recommended is the Sunday night seafood barbeque, Carole and Nick are great hosts and the food is of a high quality as well as a good opportunity to meet other guests.

If you are a diver then this is a great location to base yourself in. Carole and Nick are both keen divers and thier local knowledge is invaluable. For dive operators, look no further than Jolly Dive. Paul and Terry are great hosts and the ambiance on the dive boat is fantastic. I have dived allaround the world and without doubt I would say that this is most fun i have had diving with any organisation. There is a good mix of dive sites, and for those who like their sharks, a good chance of seeing Black Tip and Nurse sharks on most sites on the outer reef.

For a laid back holiday in a beautiful part of Antigua away from the normal tourist traps i cannot recommend this highly enough.

We aren’t really people to sit around and watch the world go by as a general rule – but when we arrived at ReefView Apartments in Antigua we were seriously in need of relaxing break.
Having stayed at ReefView a couple of years before, I was keen to see the new cottage they have constructed - and decided to unleash this little gem of a place on my girlfriend.
Well we got something way better than expected, and had a holiday never to be forgotten.
Karoll’s homemade rum punch and our fresh fish BBQs on arrival were perfect – and as we were waited on by our excellent hosts, Nick and Karoll’s wealth of knowledge and stories kept the evening going into the early hours.
In amongst the few days we spent basking on Antigua’s numerous beautiful white sand beaches we also enjoyed a couple of very good dives with a local dive company – but even these were far surpassed by the incredible snorkeling experiences in and around Cades Bay.
Snorkeling off the beach close to the apartments and from Nick’s boat out on Cades Reef we saw turtles, lobsters, octopuses, nurse sharks and even an eagle ray – AWESOME!
And if you don’t believe that an evening stood in the mangroves with a fishing rod would figure on a dream Caribbean holiday – well let me tell you – when Nick is your guide, it definitely can!! Kristina caught her first ever fish and me a few more than that –so it will always be a great if ‘squidgy’ memory.
But it was again aboard the ReefView boat Little Mermaid that we were provided with possibly the best day of the holiday - a fantastic fishing trip.
After 3 hours trolling Nick’s experience shone through as he spotted some birds off in the distance. He headed over to them – and that was that…… 20+ strikes, 15 fish landed – barracuda, tuna, mahi mahi, wahoo …. 'til all the bait was gone!

Nick and Karoll also prepared us some sensational fresh sashimis, ceviches and other fish dishes from that day’s catch throughout the course of our stay.
All in all an absolutely amazing holiday, made all the more impressive by the unique rural location.
You are reminded of this frequently by a neighbouring cockerel – but this is a problem which could be easily fixed with ear plugs if you are the kind of person who let’s those things get to you!
Nick and Karoll’s knowledge and helpfulness is unrivalled.
If you want anything – they know where to get it. And if they don’t know then you probably can’t get it on island! They are more than happy give you recommendations and help you get organized. The apartments are individual and full of eclectic beachy stuff, comprehensively furnished but most importantly CLEAN!
If you are looking to explore Antigua based at an ‘off the beaten track’ retreat – AND fancy the option of doing A LOT MORE than lying on a deserted beach – a stay at ReefView could be for you.
