Owner description: On 93 hectares of coastal farmland in Wallington, you will find Oakdene's boutique vineyard, award winning restaurant and cellar door. Situated near Ocean Grove, Wallington is found on the Bellarine Peninsula, approximately 20 kilometres east of Geelong and 90 kilometres south of Melbourne. The region enjoys a cool, maritime climate that moderates the weather patterns, resulting in a long cool growing season, producing low yields of high quality fruit. Established in 2001, Oakdene specialises in the varieties best suited to the region: chardonnay, pinot noir, shiraz, pinot gris and sauvignon blanc, and the range includes both still and sparkling wines. The wines are elegant and complex and reflect the true varietal character of the region. Dedication in the vineyard and winery has produced immediate results, with wines awarded medals and trophies at major wine shows and a 5-star rating in James Halliday's Australian Wine Companion 2014. Visitors can enjoy daily informative or tutored wine tastings in Oakdene's uniquely designed Cellar Door, while experiencing estate grown olive oil, orchids and lavender products. A visit to Oakdene would not be complete without dining at Oakdene Restaurant, the perfect place to match estate grown Bellarine Peninsula wines with the menu of seasonal, local and regional produce prepared with passion and flair. Various dining options are available, including a la carte and degustation menus, private dining rooms or more casual dining in the garden. Find out for yourself why Oakdene restaurant recently received the national award for Best Restaurant in a Winery and Best Tourism Restaurant at the prestigious Restaurant & Catering National Awards for Excellence in 2013. Oakdene also caters for weddings and special events, offers three beautifully appointed themed accommodation rooms, and is simply a place to experience, not just to visit.

Quite different with the cellar door in what looks like an upside down house. Nice wines some at very reasonable prices and others a bit expensive. Not keen on the tasting fee, that goes to a purchase if you decide to buy...loved the Pinot Noir

We stopped off for a wine tasting at the cellar door of Oakdene and not only did we discover some delicious wines, but we were treated to a wonderfully quirky venue. The decor has been beautifully done and the buildings themselves are fascinating. You could honestly spend a half a day here discovering all the art - some of it hilarious, some of it very clever, but all of it interesting. We did a wine tasting here and then decided to stay on for lunch. As we had a late breakfast we decided not to go to the restaurant - which had a divine menu - but rather sit in the garden area and have some shared platters.

If you are not convinced by the wine and the art, then you would surely have to be by the staff. They are all the most professional and friendly people - nothing was too difficult and the entire overall experience of Oakdene was perfect. The antipasto platter was creative and good, but the cheese platter was really delicous. There's enough on the outside garden menu to choose from if you want to chill outside without indulging in what looked to be a 5 star restaurant. We loved this area, you sit amongst more fascinating art pieces as well as gorgeous towering trees.

So even if you aren't a big wine drinker, go to Oakdene for the experience - it's well worth it and of course if you love wine as we do, well it's a one-stop shop! We will be back and next time we'll sample the restaurant.

This is a place to spend a good half day. Oakdene produce some beautiful wine and compliment it with a great restaurant that serves high class dishes. Their new cellar door reminds me of Ettamogah Pub. It is basically a house that has been built on it's side. It is a must see and so is the garden art. There are some delightful gardens to meander through which are dotted with recycle sculpture and collections of household items or kitchen utensils that are a lot of fun.
The restaurant is beautiful and has a few different rooms for private functions. The bar is another room with open fire and very cozy. The artwork continues inside with glasswork and paintings. The award wining chef will ensure your meals are stunning and you will expect to pay for this accordingly. Not cheap but worth treating yourself and someone special.

Came here for lunch as an alternative to lack of service at Loam and was pleasantly surprised.
It's a fun and funky winery with rstaurant alternatives - i.e casual in the gardens and a little more formal inside.. The food is good and the service professional.
Loved the art and decor - also enjoyed the wines - never had them before but was really impressed with the quality - loved the Shiraz.
Great place for a relaxing Sunday.
