“Great apartment for money”
Reviewed 10 June 2014

Booked through crystal last minute for the week before xmas. Great price for family of 5, only £1000.
Two negatives which meant 4 stars not 5. We were dropped off by coach at the drop off point and had to lug 4 suitcases, 5 boots bags, 5 gear bags & 5 back packs up 2 flights of steps to get to the main part of the village. Other negative was the beds. The double room was 2 single beds pushed together. They were not full size, felt more like cheap kids bunk beds with v thin mattress. We were given 2 single quilt covers & a double quilt?? After 3 days we got the double quilt cover.
Positives far outweigh the negatives, location was amazing. Ski in, ski out was great for the kids. Kids loved sledging right outside the apartment on the slope. Apartment was big enough, kitchen was good, plenty of utensils, crockery, cutlery etc. Would definitely go back if price was right.

We booked our skiing holiday through Crystal for the last week of March and have raved to all our friends about it, and will definitely return next year. Staying in La Tania and the Grand Bois was a lot cheaper than anywhere else and we expected it to be reflected by the resort and accomodation but were pleasantly surprised. The room was basic but quite clean and well equiped. Hot water and heating worked fine, beds were singles but could be pushed together to make a double. The room would probably be a squash to sleep four using the sofa bed but if you were on a budget you could manage. No oven but 4 electric hob rings, decent sized fridge and kitchen utensils, plates, pans etc. We cooked dinner most nights and prepared sandwiches for the day. We stayed on the 7th floor and could see the gondola from our balcony - it really is ski in ski out. The ski locker room is secure and functional. Apparently some people were woken by noise from the pubs but we didnt hear a thing. Tv with some English channels, as well as French and German channels. Leaving the deposit on arrival is something Crystal tell you when booking and was not a surprise to anyone when we arrived after a seamless transfer from Chambery. If you go knowing that you paid for a 3 star room you will not be surprised, if you go expecting a five star room at 3 star prices you will be! Would definitely stay here again, this time as part of a large group of friends after selling it to them! La Tania is quite low down and was losing snow quite rapidly when we left, but this isnt a major issue when you have the whole of The Three Valleys to explore. Although La Tania is small the nightlife was good and it was about 30 euros for a taxi back from Meribel. Try the pizza la marmotten from the Restaurant Marmotton, and the takeaway fondue from the delicattessen by Le Ski Lodge Pub. Supermarket wasnt too expensive with helpful friendly English speaking staff. Le Ski Lodge was the place for apres - 4 euros a pint at happy hour and 5 euros after. We had a fantastic time in La Tania and can't wait to return!!

Room Tip: Stay in the main block as the rooms are away from the village and overlook the gondola so have less...

After reading a few mixed reviews was unsure what to expect on arrival, but I must say was pleasantly surprised. The apartment was lovely, not the biggest but was fine for us (2 adults and 2 children). We ate lunch out most days at a small place called Snow Food, food very good. In the evening, we tended to cook meals in the apartment and the facilities were fine for this, no oven but 4 hotplate rings, dishwasher and microwave. As a few other reviews have said Reception not really manned but we were with Crystal ski and the Reps were there every day and also easy to locate if needed. We had a fantastic time here and would definitely come again. Location is excellent, ski in, ski out. Forgot to mention on arrival, you have to leave a 250euro deposit on your credit/debit card, which they refund at the end of the holiday, as long as you leave everything clean and tidy. We had no problems with this.

La Tania is a great ski resort both for families and the keen skier. The centre of the resport is pedestrianised and the dray lift is free so great for families. For the keen skier there is now the new Boue Blanc rapid chair lift that takes you up to the ridge above Courchevel very quickly. And check out www.momentumsnowsports.co.uk excellent teaching both for beginner and advanced skiers.

Just returned from an awesome week in la tania and I couldn't have picked a better location! The apartments are what you expect basic but does the job! I could be fussy and moan about a little things but I wasn't expecting a 5* room. The only thing I will moan about is the floor level we were on (level 9) as it's also used by the public as a walk through which was a little annoying late at night when they're walking home from a night out. The hotel is a ski in and ski out which was perfect as the gondola was just at the end of the ramp. There is no one at reception all week only at certain times when they are doing the cleaning so if you had any problems it would be annoying but if you book with crystal the reps are available 24/7 by phone or text. Out of Meribel and courchevel, La tania was the cheapest for food and drink but then it's still expensive, around €5 for a pint which is a little to much. Food wise I'd definitely recommend a place called Snow Food it's a little take away pizzeria which were soooo nice and a reasonable price and you get free wifi if needed :) The rooms had a kitchen in with a cooker,microwave/grill, kettle, toaster and coffee machine in this is the second time I've been there and they didn't have spatchula both times so if you want eggs I'd take your own! The room had 2 single beds and a double sofa bed, a little hard but after a days snowboarding It didn't bother me, they also had a flat screen tv (small) with around 5 uk channels.

Over all I had an amazing stay at Grand bois apartments and I'm sure I'll be back next year!

Room Tip: If you want less noise don't stay on the 9th floor.

A group of mates and I went on a Snowboarding/Skiing holiday for a week. Many problems arose with both bathrooms including showers and lights. After the week we got a phone call to say apparently some damage was caused to the fridge and the cooker, however two months later (after asking for it many times) they still have not sent photographic evidence to us showing what damage has been caused to the fridge. We were adamant that this was not us as we checked many times that the cooker was not on. Now a legal case has been set up as they want to charge us £2000 for the damage.

This was a shame as it was a very good holiday, and the hotel was ski in ski out! But I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Just returned from a lovely week in La Tania. Crystal Ski do a pretty accurate description of these self catering apartments. Could have done with a better clean, you only have to look in the corners of rooms, move furniture to see that they are not very well cleaned prior to new guests arriving. I had gone armed with anti bacterial wipes so this wasn't a problem for us. Would say to take a couple of tea towels and some dish clothes if you are intending on using the kitchen facilities. Its worth upgrading to a larger room to guarantee a bath and a slightly bigger living area, although the rooms were still very compact but for what time we spent in them, perfectly formed. View was out of this world and location was also very good. The local restaurants are very good, we didn't have a bad meal book booking essential in school hols. Courcheval on the other hand was very expensive and food was not so good in some places. All in all a very good family friendly resort with excellent skiing and adequate accommodation

Room Tip: We were on the eighth floor and had a lovely view and not much noise
