“Wonderful End of Ski Season Trip to Les Coches”
Reviewed 14 April 2018 for a stay in April 2018

We’ve just completed a fantastic 7 day trip to Les Coches again this year, staying as a party of 7 this time at La Madison Jaune. Our stay was made all the better by the sunshine, the excellent snow and the wonderful welcome to the resort by Iain and a Claire and family. They have really upgraded the chalet since last time, making it even more comfortable and convenient. The laundry and boot & ski room were extremely convenient for our party. The accommodation was perfect, from the spectacular location and luxurious comfort to the jacuzzi, enjoyed after a hard days skiing by all! We’ll be back next season!

“Highly recommended”
Reviewed 9 January 2017 for a stay in December 2016

We were two families with two 17 year old boys and two 15 year old girls staying over New Year 2016. The chalet was fantastic. We totally got the wow factor when we walked in. The open plan kitchen, sitting room and dining room is just perfect for 8. The bedrooms were spacious and well equipped although do be careful of the wonderful beams on the top floor as they are a bit low but make the chalet very beautiful. Having the two bathrooms and a separate loo were exactly what we needed. We ate in 5 nights and ate out in Montchavin twice. The walk to Montchavin was 15 minutes up a steep climb but very manageable even with poorly knees after the skiing but do remember a torch.

The hot tub was a complete bonus and one we enjoyed each evening under the stars.

The skiing area of Les Arcs and La Plagne are brilliant and serve every level. We went when there was very little snow and you couldn't ski down to Montchavin but the upper slopes had been groomed immaculately and we had great fun skiing every day.

Two tiny criticisms was that there was not a lot of hot water for 8 of us to shower after a hard days skiing and the dishwasher did not perform well but these are tiny notes and do not take away from a fantastic holiday which was completely made by the wonderful chalet. Liza was excellent at providing tips on where to eat, getting our ski passes and generally being very nice indeed.

Thank you to all.

We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay in Chalet Jaune, thank you very much for your kind feedback. We have realised that the hot water has a limited capacity and are planning on upgrading it to a larger capacity electric hot water system next summer, so should you visit again there will be an abundance of hot water. Also the dishwasher is being replaced at the end of January when I am back out in Montorlin as we had also noticed a decrease in performance.

“Excellent Chalet - Great Price”
Reviewed 10 May 2014 for a stay in April 2014

The chalet accommodation is ideal for 2 families, which is what we used it for (2 adults and 2 kids in each). Plenty of room for relaxing in the living room and a good-sized kitchen to prepare meals.

It's in the village of Montorlin, which had the feel of a proper French village, rather than some of the sterile, French skiing villages you see in the mountains. It's 2 minutes away from Montchavin where there's everything you need including a great restaurant and supermarket. Another couple of minutes up the hill to Les Coches and you get other supermarkets, bars and take aways (pizza and cooked chickens were great).
There are washing and drying facilities in the utility room and a boot room to store outdoor gear away from the main living areas. The hot tub is a brilliant addition for anybody wanting to relax with a beautiful view and the large patio area catches the sun in the afternoon and evening, so is an idea spot to relax. Highly recommended.

“Beautiful chalet with everything you need and more”
Reviewed 2 April 2014 for a stay in March 2014

A very homely, comfortable and spacious chalet with stunning views and a great setting in a traditional French village. There is plenty of space to accommodate a large group/families (there were 9 of us) and easy parking. The chalet has everything you could possibly need, with the added bonus of free WIFI, wood burner and hot tub with views of Mont Blanc. It took literally only a couple of minutes to drive up to Montchavin for the ski lifts and parking was no problem and is free. You can also walk up, you can leave your skis in a locker near the lifts. As a big group we found it nice to have the flexibility to do your own thing and come and go at various times, so having the option to walk or drive was really convenient. It's the best place we have ever stayed at in the Alps and we would definitely stay again.

“Beautiful, Clean Chalet.”

I was lucky enough to stay here with a group of friends in mid January 2014. Our party was 7 people and the chalet was easily spacious enough to accommodate us without ever feeling that we were cramped. In fact the chalet can easily accommodate 8 people (2 doubles, 2 twins) with the option of squeezing in 2 more on an additional fold out bed on the mezzanine.
The chalet is clean and the fixtures and fittings are all well maintained and in good condition. There is a hot tub on the patio - I have one at home and am only too well aware how tricky it can be to maintain the cleanliness of the water, however this one was very clean and the chemical balance was obviously well monitored. Needless to say the tub was used almost every night.
Location has already been mentioned in previous reviews. The location is very picturesque but it is not adjacent to any lifts. We had the use of cars so it was not an issue for us. The nearest lifts were only a 3 or 4 minute drive up the road. We were also able to hire lockers in a ski shop adjacent to the lift so we didn't need to carry them back and forth to the chalet.
I believe there is also a bus service available, but I have no information on this and would suggest you do further research if that was something you would wish to use.
A very important feature for me was the availability of wi-fi in the chalet. I was able to keep in touch with work, emails, web access etc.
There is also satellite TV with access to many of the UK/Sky channels plus a DVD player and a large stock of movies.
And if you like a real fire, there is a glass fronted wood burner which added to the cosy
All things considered, I would happily recommend Maison Jaune.

“Fantastic chalet for a peaceful family holiday”
Reviewed 2 January 2014 for a stay in December 2013

We were 9 persons (young adults) staying for one week over the Christmas period. The chalet is located away from the ski lifts in Montchavin and Les Coches but this is no issue if you have a car (winter tyres/chains necessary) as parking is easily accessible near the lifts. We were also able to leave our skis at the rental shop so car just took boots and poles.

Chalet itself was very well set out maximising the space for communal areas whilst also allowing decent sized rooms for a little privacy. Downstairs bathroom was decently sized.

Ian, the owner/operator and Liza (who lives in the apartment downstairs) were delightful and very helpful. Booking and email communication were hassle free.

We would certainly return to Maison Jaune if we were in the Montchavin/Les Coches area.

“Home from Home”
Reviewed 23 March 2012 for a stay in February 2012

Lovely rental, spacious, modern, clean AND with fabulous views. The house sleeps 8 with ease and 10 with a bit of a squeeze. There was everything you needed, down to books, CD's,games etc. The kitchen was very well equipped , including a dishwasher ,double oven and fridge freezer. The floors were all tiled and this made cleaning up after 7 people coming home from skiing, very easy. The views from the front of the house were lovely, we overlooked the snow capped mountains - definitely a "KODAK" moment! On the down side, it took major planning to get 4 adults and 3 children ready and out of the house to catch the bus each morning up to the ski lifts (parking in Montchavin village is horrendous!). Hiring ski lockers is a must! Definitely not as easy as when you rent a ski in, ski out property and you have to way up if you want to rent this beautiful home from home v the location of the ski lifts. Thinking about it, for me the house wins every time!
