We have just returned home to Wales after a wonderful 5 day break in this hotel, our first visit to this one but our 4th hotel in all with Lochs & Glens & another one booked for summer 2014.
The title refers to the fantastic way all we guests were looked after following the horrendous storm that hit most of Scotland on the night of 5th December. The hotel lost power & water for almost 12 hours but we guests rose in the dark of the morning to find complete calm, log fires being set in the gorgeous Victorian fireplaces & countless candles burning safely all over the reception area & the lounges & restaurant too.
Somehow we all had a fully cooked breakfast, about 100 guests in all,& after being told all excursions for the day were cancelled we found the British Bulldog Spirit truly alive & well. The morning was spent chatting or playing games in the well-stocked games room with some of the time being royally entertained by Phill, staff member & host of most of the entertainment functions arranged.Later on Phill arranged a very lively set of quizzes, singing competitions & other raucous but very enjoyable types of fun. Most of the guests were retired but not retired from having a darned good laugh.
Sandwiches & soup were also laid on for lunch & then, once the Police had agreed the roads were safe,we were taken on a coach trip round Loch Lomond. On our return from that more games ensued & then the power was restored to great cheers, naturally.Following that we all had dinner, fully bonded as a whole group by then & had a fantastic evening of even more fun with Phill leading the cabaret again but as his twin sister Crystal. He was inexhaustable & a massive credit to Lochs & Glens as his talents ranged from serving meals, starting up the generator after the storm to the fabulous entertainment he devised himself.
Every holiday we have had with Lochs & Glens so far has been exceptional but this topped everything. What a cracking company they are & long may their deserved success continue
