“Calm after the storm”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 December 2013

We have just returned home to Wales after a wonderful 5 day break in this hotel, our first visit to this one but our 4th hotel in all with Lochs & Glens & another one booked for summer 2014.
The title refers to the fantastic way all we guests were looked after following the horrendous storm that hit most of Scotland on the night of 5th December. The hotel lost power & water for almost 12 hours but we guests rose in the dark of the morning to find complete calm, log fires being set in the gorgeous Victorian fireplaces & countless candles burning safely all over the reception area & the lounges & restaurant too.
Somehow we all had a fully cooked breakfast, about 100 guests in all,& after being told all excursions for the day were cancelled we found the British Bulldog Spirit truly alive & well. The morning was spent chatting or playing games in the well-stocked games room with some of the time being royally entertained by Phill, staff member & host of most of the entertainment functions arranged.Later on Phill arranged a very lively set of quizzes, singing competitions & other raucous but very enjoyable types of fun. Most of the guests were retired but not retired from having a darned good laugh.
Sandwiches & soup were also laid on for lunch & then, once the Police had agreed the roads were safe,we were taken on a coach trip round Loch Lomond. On our return from that more games ensued & then the power was restored to great cheers, naturally.Following that we all had dinner, fully bonded as a whole group by then & had a fantastic evening of even more fun with Phill leading the cabaret again but as his twin sister Crystal. He was inexhaustable & a massive credit to Lochs & Glens as his talents ranged from serving meals, starting up the generator after the storm to the fabulous entertainment he devised himself.
Every holiday we have had with Lochs & Glens so far has been exceptional but this topped everything. What a cracking company they are & long may their deserved success continue

Room Tip: We did not ask for a loch view but gather you can if you want to,they are allocated to the earliest...

Very nice hotel above average for a coach trip holiday. Joined a party from Derby as we live in the north of Scotland. Food very good, service very good, hotel well used but clean. The only fault was the poor bed which was down on one side.

Sixth trip with Lochs and Glens and many more to come - hopefully. Our room had been recently refurbished was large, airy and comfortable. The en suite was lovely with a large shower. The staff, as always, were friendly, helpful and efficient. The food and service was up to Lochs and Glens usual high standard. The trips organised for us were interesting and our drivers -Steve and James- were cheerful, instructive and very competent. Nightly entertainment was of a high standard and Phil was particularly good. Looking forward to our next trip to the Highland Hotel in March!

Room Tip: We had a ground floor room, which was quiet and had a loch view.

I was in a locally arranged party of 55 from Bath, this was our fifth trip with our friends. We paid £191 each for a five day holiday including travelling.
The trip up and back was relaxing in a new coach, plenty of stops to stretch your legs and comfort relief. There is a toilet on the coach, ample space for the biggest of persons to be comfortable.
The hotel rooms are well decorated with en-suite and all expected facilities, one or two of the rooms had work under redecoration but did not effect our enjoyment.
The food was plentiful and very good, the entertainment was enjoyable with the star being Phil who loves an audience.
The excursions were well planned, the visit to the hydro electric plant was great.
Overall a very good short break, great way to see a beautiful part of Scotland on a budget. the cost for the holiday is exceptional. There will always be someone who will moan, even if it is free. Take my tip, give it a go, you will not be disappointed. David Hall from Bath
