“Lovely views over the loch even on a rainy day”

We had a lovely break at silver birch cabin the loch and woodland scenery was amazing.
The roads to get to cabins were not so lovely it was like going on a rally but when we saw the scenery it was worth it.
The cabin could do with a bigger fridge as it is quite a way to get to a supermarket also when we went the loch view grill was closed which was a bit of a shame.
The bedroom has no mirror and I would suggest taking one along as I only took a compact mirror so drying hair was a bit of a nightmare.
There are some lovely walks near to the cabin which I would recommend .
We had a nice time but we wished we had stayed in one of the cabins nearer the shore of the loch.

Glad you enjoyed your stay. Point noted about mirror in bedroom, one has now been installed. The Loch View Grill goes on off season opening hours at this time of year. Can be a problem during the week but the demand is simply not there for them. This info is on our website. Regards, David

“Does not justify its three 'Visit Scotland' crowns”
Reviewed 18 October 2013 for a stay in September 2013

A perfectly pleasant cabin was spoiled by relentlessly cheap and uncomfortable furniture. In my view the furnishings have been assembled thoughtlessly and with little regard to their utility or the comfort of the occupants. The chairs are tatty and dirty and extremely uncomfortable, and the beds are unreasonably hard and rough. Several other guests have left comments to this effect in the guest book.

Our cabin (Silver Birch) not only has no loch view, but has no view at all. In my opinion the wording of the website implies (although it does not actually say) that the cabins have a view of the loch. When I queried this with the owner he suggested that this was just my misunderstanding, however it seems to have been shared by others as there are also comments about this in the guest book.

To his credit he did offer to move us to a loch view cabin when one became available half way through our stay.

Point taken about furniture, much of which has now been replaced. With regards to 3 star rating this is applied by Visit Scotland (Tourist Board), not us.

“HEAVEN....”
Reviewed 12 October 2013 for a stay in August 2013

Not had a hol for 3 yrs so needed serious 'chill time' and was worried it wouldn't live up to my expectations/requirements....How wrong was I! The cabin (Blaeberry) was perfect! I mean it, everything and more than I expected..and I had spent weeks looking on the 'Net for my idea of
the 'perfect' log cabin and location in Scotland.....and I found it!! The whole site is immaculate and well attended...There seem to be full-time residents in about a quarter of the cabins on site which all are sensibly spaced apart. The cabin itself was immediately cosy...slept 6+2 on the Futon settee..Fabulous kitchen with everything you would need, even down to the little things...The bedrooms were very cosy with bedding included (I used my own which I had brought anyway) Toilet and large walk in shower were spotless!
Living room was huge with a Log burner (Bliss!) didnt watch the TV/DVD/Satellite, just sat with my little dawg and watched the flames at night...Once I lit the fire too early and got the place roasting...I had to put the air-con on Ha ha! That was my only 'chore' each day, chopping firewood (bought from Delightful Irene, the housekeeper), which I enjoyed tremendously...a ritual! I walked my dog around the site and lovely village 4-5 times a day....Once at ten o'clock in the dark, she went straight into the Loch after some ducks (on her lead of course!) She thoroughly enjoyed her adventure and came back a different, calmer dog....Have promised to take my Son and his wife up here next time...Cannot recommend this site enough for a peaceful, relaxing holiday, out in the wilds!

“Quiet, peaceful location with wildlife at the doorstep”
Reviewed 2 September 2013 for a stay in August 2013

We stayed for a week at the end of the summer holidays, booked through an agent who were very helpful. Once booked all correspondence came by email from owners and was sent quickly and efficiently. Plenty of information to help us with journey and what we could expect when we arrived.
Lodge was new, perhaps a year or so old, just near to site entrance, set back within trees, despite proximity to entrance it wasn't noisy and you felt away from it all. It's a thirty minute journey on single track roads to get to Dalavich so the drive wouldn't be for everyone but it's part of it's remote and peaceful location. Lots of walks on the doorstep, bike and boat hire available. Site has a small shop and cafe and the pub was open four nights the week we stayed. Otherwise you have to travel so be prepared for this or plan to eat in.
Lodge was plenty big enough for our party of three but could sleep up to seven, it would be a squeeze. Kitchen well equipped with all we needed for our stay, log burner great for the evenings and other heating available. The only downside to the lodge was the seating was uncomfortable and bedding looked old and well worn, a few more luxury touches would have been nice, only mirror in the place was in the bathroom which made getting dressed and drying hair awkward. Overall we really enjoyed our stay, great walks, plenty of wildlife to spot, would definitely visit the area again.

“Home from home”
Reviewed 30 August 2013 for a stay in July 2013

Picked up keys from local resident, very friendly and happy to help in any way.The cabin was well presented and clean, couldn't wish for more. The local shop/chip shop only had the minimum of provisions, but as we had everything with us it wasn't a problem. Scenery was stunning, plenty of walks, hills to climb etc. Plenty of options to either relax or be as active as you want. The site was well kept, and although we had a small problem of the smoke detector requiring a replacement battery the stall were very quick to respond.

“Lovely cabin in beautiful setting”
Reviewed 13 June 2013 for a stay in May 2013

Couldn't recommend highly enough. The cabin was lovely, had everything we needed, the woodburner was great in an evening.
The setting is lovely - Loch Awe is stunning and there's plenty of great forests for walks/bike rides from the front door. We were also going to hire a boat but ran out of time.
Maybe we were lucky because we had a week of sunshine, but it was a great holiday.
