Stayed at Bequia Beach for 10 days - had a fantastic time! We got upgraded to suite for free and it was really tastefully decorated with gorgeous, tasteful furnishings. Very chilled out days drinking cocktails from the bar at the pool and beach. Take care with the waves!!

Special thanks to all the lovely, super-friendly staff: Nyesha, Jimmy, Kong, Candy, Eve, Bridgette, Tatiana and basically everyone who works there!

We have just returned from 7 nights here and I have to give it 5 stars in every respect. Location fantastic, looking towards Mustique. Beautiful beach, with nice small waves and trade winds (used the windsurfer from the water sports centre). Lovely room with almost private plunge pool. Superb food at Bagatelle restaurant. Really friendly, courteous and knowledgable staff.

After a gruelling 14 hour trip from Grenada (via Barbados and Trinidad) we eventually arrived at the Bequia Beach Hotel. On our arrival we were greeted by the lovely Titiania with a much needed rum punch and a VERY warm, friendly smile and an extremely professional manner. She explained the hotels facilities, escorted to our room (a free upgrade to a cottage instead of the room we had booked) and explained about the room facilities which were excellent.

The room (cottage) was a large colonial style room with a modern twist on a four poster bed, lounge area, large bathroom (with the best shower ever) and a large wardrobe area and veranda overlooking the pristine grounds and pool. The only thing that spoilt our arrival were the very aggressive mosquitoes that attacked us walking the short distance from reception to the cottage. They were a source of annoyance throughout the whole stay so take plenty of repellent and ask for your room to be sprayed on a daily basis (this was done very willingly by the chamber maids). The lack of a TV was also an added bonus (you could however request one).

The beach area is small but well-kept and the sea (Atlantic) was quite rough so we tended to use the pristine pool attended by Billy the very helpful pool attendant who attended to our every whim. There are kayaks etc for use whenever they are required and plenty of clean dry towels to hand. The bar and restaurant area is situated next to the pool and the very friendly/witty Collin was always on hand to mix excellent cocktails and serve ice cold beer.

Due to the situation of the hotel we ate breakfast (included) and dinner there every day and had lunch at restaurants on out travels around what has to be the most exquisite island we have ever visited. The town is a about a 30 minute (very hot) walk from the hotel but here are plenty of taxis that can be flagged down en-route. Breakfast was excellent with fresh fruit to start and a cooked breakfast if required (served by the very funny and welcoming Kerry and Annella) and the dinner menu was small but the food was excellent cooked to perfection and professionally served by the larger than life Garfield, Sherique, Eve, Ozan (who has travelled to Grimsby), and Kong. We can't thank all the staff enough for making our stay a very restful enjoyable one and one which will be remembered for all time. Florinda the general manager and Cecille the assistant manageress do an excellent job of running the hotel and we commend them on their professionalism.

I would not recommend hiring a car on Bequia due to its very rugged, mountainous terrain and instead take a taxi tour of the island (this can be arranged through reception) or even walk or get the local taxis.

All in all this will be the most memorable stay on all of our travels so far and we can't wait to get back to the Bequia Beach Hotel in the future. Thank you everyone for making it such an enjoyable stay.

Room tip: Just stay at this hotel, it is fabulous.

We have just had a gorgeous 5 nights in the Bequia Beach Hotel. We were looked after impeccably, but with the true caribbean charm that is renowned in Bequia. The accommodation was extremely comfortable, the food excellent and the vibe relaxed but really professional. The location is perfect for nipping in to Port Elizabeth or a quick taxi ride to Industry Bay (with the lovely Jensen as our taxi driver). The Swedish touch was very much appreciated at Christmas as it was beautifully decorated to remind us all that it was the festive time of year.

Room tip: We stayed in a two bedroom villa with a plunge pool which was great with a family as we had our own sitting room and kitchen - and of course the luxury of a private plunge pool - although we tended to spend more time by the main pool as the atmosphere was so lovely.

I find it difficult to write this review without sounding like I have shares in this hotel !
From the moment we stepped inside the elegant reception hall, until the day we reluctantly left, we were made to feel, not just like guests, but more like members of an exclusive club.
Each and every member of staff bent backwards to make sure our holiday was comfortable , with little personal touches to ensure we felt truly special and welcome.
We had booked to stay in a one bedroomed villa, but on our third day, we encountered a problem with the air conditioner . Without any hesitation, we were immediately given upgraded accommodation and offered assistance with relocation and unpacking should we desire.
The restaurant was delightful, with a breakfast so plentiful that lunch was often an afterthought .
We particularly loved the gorgeous Swedish bread, baked daily in the kitchen, I forgot to ask for the recipe ! There were pancakes with various accompaniments available too, but we didn't try them. Eggs were always served exactly as requested and the bacon was crisp and to die for. Should you prefer to diet on holiday, yoghurts and fresh fruit is also available.
Mornings were generally spent on the beach where cushioned loungers and towels were provided.
Friendly staff were always on hand to serve drinks or just to offer advice on places of interest to visit. We had prebooked a car for the entire duration of our two week stay and felt it was a very wise move. Although taxis were freely available, it was fun to come and go as we pleased and completely explore Bequia at our own pace. There are so many little restaurants and bars to visit across the island but those in Port Elizabeth are generally good, efficient and spotlessly clean, with varied menus to suit all tastes. Obviously, fresh fish is a definite must with fresh lobster from sea to plate , quicker than you can say Jack Sparrow ! So if dishes Crustacean are your delight, then Saturday night at the Hotel's Lobster Fest is a positive must . Served by candlelight and to the sound of surf on the shore and some excellent live music , a table at the Bagatelle Restaurant is the finest place to be.
Linen and towels are of superior quality and changed frequently. The beds are extremely comfortable with mattress toppers to ensure an even sweeter sleep. There are mosquito nets provided and I suggest you use them. Mosquitos in this part of the Caribbean are particularly hardy and Don't seem phased by air conditioning. The hotel provides room spray and a can of mosquito repellent, but to avoid bites, it's well advised to be extravagant with the stuff and definitely pack more to take. Our shower was really roomy but sometimes a little cool first thing in the morning.
The balcony to our Ocean View Suite was capacious with comfy furniture provided to bring inside outside for early morning tea or coffee or private night caps, at bedtime.
Most guests use the bar before and after dinner and it's easy to see why. I don't think we've ever come across such fabulous bar staff. Candy and Kong need a special mention. Candy's efficiency, good humour and true talent in the cocktail making arena, made her shine ! Kong's smile, genuine desire to please and speed of service , even at busy times, earned him respect along with Candy.
Creoline and Annella made breakfast time very special and indeed, all waiting staff were an absolute credit to the hotel.
We should like to thank everyone for making us so very welcome during two precious weeks.
Aggie, our housekeeper, deserves a very special thank you. Discreet and exceptionally fussy, our room was always up to First Day Standard.
Finally, a thank you to Mr. Bengt Mortstedt and all members of his outstanding management team
for realising the dream , of providing a perfect balance between luxury and good old fashioned hospitality with a chic, no news and shoes if you wish, feel.
We shall definitely return.

Lizzie Reed

Room tip: All rooms will be well accepted but those nearer the beach are within earshot of the Ocean and wonderfully appointed. If stairs are not your thing, the Villas are a perfect option .
