Perfect" is a high bar and both Bequia and the Bequia Beach Hotel clear it with ease.
The weather was perfect every day for 11 days. 80s, sunny, nice breeze. I was never hot or cold. The water is a similar temperature. The island is naturally beautiful, not manicured. There is nothing fussy about Bequia or the BBH. Lots of hills, sloping gently into gorgeous sandy beaches. The water is every color of beautiful blues and came on shore in fun-to-watch waves. BBH is on Friendship Bay, which is good for swimming and crescent-shapped, about 6/10s of a mile long. It's relatively hard-packed (you don't sink much) but it is on a bit of an angle. There aren't many shells but there is terrific snorkeling at one end of the beach. It's great to be able to snorkel right off the beach (vs getting a boat.)
On the resort itself... the staff is terrific. From the managers, Chris and Cecelia, to the waitresses to the house-keepers -- everyone was friendly and helpful. We ate the majority of our meals at the resort and enjoyed most of them. Breakfast (included) was terrific. Excellent omelets, lots of fresh fruit and baked goods. Lunch was typically a salad that was always great and dinner varied. Grilled lobster night (Sat) was fantastic. BBH has two restaurants -- Bagatelle on the beach and Blue Orchid (Italian) up the hill. We enjoyed meals at both.

There is a very nice pool, good for lap swimming, and a small gym (3 pieces of cardio equipment, a universal machine, and free weights.) The grounds are beautiful. Wonderful landscaping. We spent a lot of time in lounge chairs right on the beach. We stayed in an ocean-front suite in one of the 2-story buildings right on the beach. It had a great balcony, a small sitting area, and a spacious bathroom. We had AC as well as a ceiling fan.
Some guests rented cars but it's easy to take taxis and a lot safer. The roads are skinny and the locals drive pretty fast. I would not have felt comfortable driving. You can walk from BBH to Port Elizabeth, the main town on the island. It's worth it to explore for an afternoon. The harbor is full of pretty boats. You can walk over to Princess Margaret beach and the Lower Bay beach. There are good restaurants here, too. Recommend Jack's.More
