“Brilliant place! Lovely cafe!”
Reviewed 31 May 2014 via mobile

We came upon this place by accident whilst driving back from Pembrokeshire & decided to take a look. Really pleased we did! A great tour of the caves & mines which lasted nearly an hour. Beautiful setting on a Spring day & a very excellent cafe where we had lunch. Our guide was entertaining & fun & I was surprised I enjoyed it as much as my 8 year old Daughter & Husband! You also get to pan for Gold!

“interesting and pleasant few hours spent here.”
Reviewed 30 May 2014

Visited this site as I am a nt member, so free admission and an unusual experience. We were visiting whilst on family holiday in wales.
Adequate car park, pleasant staff, tidy and well presented.
Nice little gift shop.
Food in cafe looked nice and smelled nice, husband bought a slice of lemon meringue which looked delicious but unfortunately he said it tasted off too much gelatine.
The tours do fill up quick, I booked back to back tours, roman tour followed by victorian tour, however there seemed to have been some confusion and the tours overlapped, meaning we had to rush to get back. The guide kindly radio'd the 2nd tour staff to let them
Know we were running behind.
The tours are walking tours and good footwear and suitable clothing are a must, however wellies are provided which was great, as the tours can be wet and muddy.
We spent about 4 hours here, including having our picnic.
I like taking my children (11, 9 & 7) to nt properties and some of the houses and gardens have woodland play areas, it would be lovely if there was one here.
Lockers also provided free of charge, which was very helpful.

“A good day out”
Reviewed 27 May 2014

Its a good place to visit with family.
Worth to go on tours in both the Roman and the Victorian mining if you can.
Unbelievable to find out the knowledge of Romans in mining.
Make sure to be there on time on Bank Holidays and when schools break up, tours can be fully booked early in the day!
Easy access to car park.
There is a small coffee shop, a souvenir shop and toilette facilities around the main entrance.
Friendly staff with a good insight of the history of the place.

“Fantastic outing! ”
Reviewed 27 May 2014 via mobile

We had a wonderful time touring the mine. Even our teenagers loved "panning for gold." Iestyn was an excellent, interactive tour guide. You should book early for a tour. Restaurant onsite was excellent as well with very reasonable prices.
