A good visit. There's interesting informations around, guided tours including underground. Staff at the entrance need to take more time to point out what there is to see as it's not all obvious and it would be easy to miss some parts, such as the miners recorded accounts on the old telephones. Kids loved the underground tour and the Indiana jones exit. Cafe nice, but expensive with sloooow service. Would return

We visited whilst on holiday about an hour away. The kids absolutely loved it, panning for gold and going into the mines. My girls were 7 and 2 and found it very excited. Even the 2 year old wanted to do the ascent on the Victorian walk. It really is a little hidden treasure and definitely worth the journey!

This is a tour of a Welsh Gold mine, there are two tours one all about the Roman gold mining and one about the Victorian gold mining, because of the time we booked on the Victorian tour.

The guide was really funny and very informative, he got one of my kids to help demonstrate how 10 year olds had to help mine.

Utterly great way to spend a few hours.

It rained when we visited but we had a lovely time and it was a very interesting day! The tour guides on both the Roman and Victorian tours were very entertaining, confident and very knowledgeable on the subject they were talking about. The other static displays were good and the tea room had wonderful food and friendly service.

I agree with another reviewer that this was something a bit different from the National Trust. We are members and were staying in mid Wales, so went to take a look. Our older (6 yo) loved the tour down the mine, though the 4 yo was less sure. I can see what another reviewer meant re: 'scripted', it does depend on who you get as to how you feel it is presented, but it was still fascinating. The fact that it is very hands on above ground works well - dress up area was a bit of a mess and some bits could do with being replaced, but they were happy to spend half an hour panning for 'gold', and pressing buttons in the machine room, and cafe staff were friendly, offering a good range of local cakes and ice cream (there were other things on the menu, but we went in the afternoon, so just wanted a snack).
