Cwmiar Farm Holiday Cottages
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 8 July 2014

We spent 4 wonderful days at Cwmiar Farm. Kay and Gamal, are genuine and caring hosts. Within no time we were integrated into the daily routine of the farm, and our 5 year old had settled right into rural life! We were befriended by the farm dogs and got to know a lot about all the animals, participating in the daily feeding rounds. Our cottage (sunset view) lived up to its name. We really enjoyed having out meals out in the garden, spotting all the different birds, and
enjoying the peace and tranquility. We would highly recommend this as a family holiday destination with a difference. Pony trekking at the nearby Blanca Trekking was fun, and being new to trekking the staff there really took care of us. We also got to meet a little foal and some baby donkeys, the belle restaurant on the main road is also worth a visit. Very tasty tapas! We really hope to visit again soon!

We have not long returned from our first visit to the farm and have already booked again. The farm came recommended by friends who have been going for a few years so we knew it was going to be good but it exceeded all our expectations.

Kay and Gamal are the most amazing people and have created a unique holiday experience that is centered around their love of children. They are extremely welcoming and two of the nicest people we have ever met.

You can choose to be as involved as you want to be in farm life but there is no pressure or expectation to do anything but you will be missing out if you choose not to. We have learnt so much about farm life and animals in such a natural way you don't realise how much you are learning. We have fed all the animals, seen new born piglets , learnt to care and ride ponies and that was just in the first few days of our holiday!

If you are looking for a unique family holiday with amazing people in a stunning location this is for you.

This place is fantastic for muddy fun, hands-on animal experiences and outdoor play. Our girls (8 and 11) loved going off with Kay to feed a variety of animals, and then helping with evening feeds too. Our girls really grew in confidence with the different animals, and loved the pony fun day that Kay arranged. They also relished the freedom of going off to play with children from other families staying on the farm.
We found the self-catering cottages comfy and with plenty of character, and appreciated being able to get groceries and newspapers in the next village. We had a couple of trips out in West Wales but the girls began asking us if we could please stay on the farm so as to make the most of it... Our daughters rated it top of all the family holidays we've been on, and are suggesting inviting various friends and family next time to share the experience with!

Room Tip: All the cottages are individual and cater for different numbers of people - have a look at the video...

We stayed here during Easter 1/2 term...kids had a great time aged 7 and 10 they loved getting involved and helping with the animals, enjoyed tractor rides and a pony day. They loved the pigs and piglets...Gamal and Kay are very welcoming, helpful and answered all the questions the children asked...be prepared to not want to leave though we was gutted when we had to come home, will be back soon. Loved it Loved it loved it

Stayed at Cwmiar for the fifth time over Easter with our two boys 12 and 10 and as always have had an amazing time. The boys rate this as their favourite holiday - 'Even better than Florida!'
The owners, Kay and Gamal are two of the nicest people you could wish to meet and do all they can to make this a really special place, particularly for children. The cottages are well equipped and cosy and provide a lovely base.
The boys love to get up early and really throw themselves into life on the farm. They never tire of feeding all the various animals, playing with the dogs, turning out the horses and pony fun day has not lost its appeal, even after 5 visits!
There are spectacular views from the mountain at the back of Cwmiar and is well worth the climb. The only sounds up there are the birds of prey, sheep and the wind - bliss!
Lampeter and Camarthen are within a 30 minute drive if you want to eat out and we had a really good Sunday lunch at the Belle View just at the end of the track / lane leading to the farm.
We had a great time at the BBQ with all the other families and the sausages and burgers bought on the farm were beautiful. The club house is a great feature where you can have a game of table tennis if you have half an hour to spare.
Every trip has brought its own special memories, this time it was being taken up to another farm to see a new born foal only a few hours old.
You are free to get as involved on the farm as you want to and there is no pressure to help with the feeding etc if you want to go off and explore the surrounding area. There are some fantastic beaches nearby and lots of local attractions including the Gold mine, castles, country parks and nature centres.
If you want somewhere where the children can really get involved with animals, enjoy the great outdoors and can safely be let off the leash, Cwmiar is well worth a visit. Trip number six is already booked!

We love West Wales and have been coming to the area for 4 years, but wanted to stay on a farm this time. Having looked at lots of farm websites, I decided on Cwmiar farm as it sounded like my 2 girls (9&7) could get involved in lots of farm activities. I can honestly say we loved our holiday here – we fed the animals in the morning, sometimes up to lunch time when we moved the cows or used the hay bales as a climbing frame! We then spent the afternoon on the beach, or at a castle, then went back to do the evening feed and to move the horses (Tilly & Willy) back into the stables for the night. We took part in the Pony Fun Day which was brilliant and enjoyed a Bar-B-Q with all the other families that went on till late! My 2 girls hailed it their best holiday yet, so we've already booked our return trip. If you’d like to stay on a working farm in a beautiful, tranquil part of South West Wales you won’t be disappointed.

If you've got kids and don't mind getting muddy this is the place to be (ours are 6 and 9). Very relaxed and peaceful environment. Kids are safe to play everywhere and love getting involved in feeding the animals every morning. The owners are like family. Pony fun day is just that for everyone.
Accommodation good.
A true gem and we're coming back again.
