Bleu Raisin Saint Emilion
Reviewed 26 April 2014

This is a lovely place to stay if you want to be in the middle of the vineyards, though very quiet and rural. The hosts were very kind and helpful and really could not do enough for you. Breakfast was normally served 0830-0930 but they happily had it prepared for 0715 as we were leaving early on our departure day. The rooms were immaculate and tastefully decorated - only criticism was they could have done with a little more lighting both in the bedroom and bathroom and maybe a unit or shelf in the bathroom to put your toiletries. But these are small criticisms and personal taste. All in all can highly recommend staying here.

After spending a few nights in a "shabby chic" (emphasis on shabby) b&b in Birac; we drove down to St Emilion and were so pleased to pull into the Bleu Raisin drive! Lovely area with vineyards to the side and just the look of the house feels clean, modern and inviting! Sandra was a brilliant hostess and gave us a friendly welcome and when we were shown to our room we were smitten! Cool rooms with ambient lighting, crisp sheets and all the little touches that make a stay memorable - and that shower! Too lovely!!! We were gutted that we had only booked 1 night here but made the most of it by taking a short trip to St Emilion town for dinner and had one of the best sleeps of the trip! And then the breakfast! Delicious, fresh and healthy and we joined the other couple staying there and really did not want to leave! We would definately recommend this little gem of a place to anyone in the area and a big thank you to Sandra and Ives for all your hospitality and advice.

Room Tip: I think any of the 3 rooms would be a good choice, but dont make the same mistake we made and only s...

We started our 10 days journey through Bordeaux by staying three nights in the care of Yves and Sandra at Bleu Raisin. From the first moment our hosts made us feel very much at home in their carefully renovated and tastefully designed B&B, situated in the beautiful settings of the countryside 10 miles from the local "capital" St Emilion.
We received excellent advice both regarding local restaurants and excursions as well as contact with experienced winemakers of the area. Also their own cooking was top class. We highly enjoyed the table d'hote which was shared together with the hosts and other B&B guests on Saturday evening.
We strongly recommend Bleu Raisin.

This was one of our favourite places of a five-week trip! We were warmly welcomed with a nice glass of local wine. The owners did everything to make us feel at home and gave us good tips on what to visit and where to go for dinner. Our room was lovely, beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. In the morning we were served a great breakfast with homemade pastries. We enjoyed being so close to St. Emilion , but far enough from the hustle and bustle of it. Very good value for money.

We stayed at this charming bed and breakfast for just one night, on route to Spain. I wish we could have stayed longer. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel so welcome and felt right 'at home' immediately. After visiting the beautiful town of St Emillion, with all its hustle and bustle, the peace and serenity of this place was a welcome change. Sitting out in the sunshine, amongst the vines, sipping on a glass of local wine, was a joy to behold! Our room was spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated. Wifi was the best we have had while travelling through France. But the highlight of our visit to Bleu Raisin was the dinner on Saturday night, prepared by Yves and Sandra, in the dining room of their home. All four of us sat together for a beautiful meal, chatting and sharing our stories. Everything about this experience was perfect- company, food, wine, setting. If you are looking for peace and serenity amongst the Bordeaux vineyards I cannot rate this little piece of paradise highly enough. Thank you Sandra and Yves- you have created a unique and delightful experience for all we travellers.

Room Tip: All rooms overlook the vineyards.

We stayed one night at Bleu Raisin in the magnificent wine country about 20 minutes outside of St. Emilion. We were graciously greeted by our hosts (Yves and Sandra) and after taking our bags to the room, offered a nice glass of wine and some summer sausage as a snack. We inquired about a place to eat for the evening and were not only given a great recommendation (Comptoir de Genes), they also called to make a reservations for us.

The room (Brin d’herbe) was the largest by far we stayed in during our French vacation. The bed was big and comfortable. However, because the weather was quite warm when we arrived and the rooms have no ceiling fans or windows that open, it was necessary to leave the door ajar to allow air flow. We were offered and accepted the use of an oscillating fan that made our room much more comfortable. Also, while the shower area is huge, there is no place to put your shampoo, conditioner, etc. except on the floor. For those with agility issues, it can present a challenge.

A typical continental breakfast was offered as well as individual teapots for either coffee or tea. We enjoyed visiting with the other guests while eating at a large farm table.

While the other two sets of guests departed, we chose to linger until check-out time so we could enjoy the quiet beauty of the vineyards. The endless rows of grapevines draws the eye while the peacefulness of the surroundings soothes the senses. Our travels across the countryside tended to be hectic and it was a welcome respite.

Don't even think of missing the incredible town of St. Emilion. It was absolutely one of our favorite stops in the countryside. Everything about this place charmed us, especially the Englise de St. Emilion, which is an absolute must see.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights after a driving tour of the Dordogne.
It provided the perfect ending to our vacation in France.
Bleu Raisin is situated in the heart of the vineyards but only 15 minutes from St Emilion.
On arrival we quicky relaxed while sipping complimentary drinks and trying the homemade quiche.
There are 3 rooms, all newly decorated with very comfy beds. Each has it's own patio area. The grounds have lots of places to relax and enjoy the peace and tranquility of the surroundings.
Yves and Sandra were perfect hosts and made us feel at home. We were lucky to be able to partake of their Table d'Hôte. This was our favorite part of the whole experience. We ate a gourmet meal with guests and hosts, staying up until the early hours of the morning getting to know each other and sharing stories. The whole experience was more like visiting friends than staying in a B&B.
We highly recommend Bleu Raisin and hope to come back soon.
