Recommended length of visit: 1-2 hours
The two fortresses of Roquetaillade are a masterpiece in Aquitaine, South West France and the site is one of the most popular in the region (30 minutes from Bordeaux, in the borders of the Graves and Sauternes region). The castle has been lived in by the same family for over 700 years and is fully furnished. It was opened officially to the public in 1956. Behind the medieval walls, visitors will discover splendid and unique decorations created by Viollet le Duc, XIX century architect (Notre Dame, Carcassonne, Pierrefonds). “Amazing, not to be missed!!”

The castle is amazing and its history is really interesting. It is a history of a family first! The guides are great and know how to make the visit alive, and not just stating some facts. Save the best for last, don't start by Visiting Roquetaillade, because the others will sound boring. Keep up the good work Roquetaillade Family.

“Don't miss it! The castle is gorgeous! ”

I visited this magnificent castle together with my friends from Hong Kong in June. The castle was in exceptionally good shape. The owner Sebastian was extremely funny, friendly and knowledgeable plus he speaks good English. This place is worth a visit so I highly recommend this place if you are going to Bordeaux.

Came from Bordeaux on the weekend. Very easy from Longdon. The only way to describe the castle is magnificent and extremely well preserved. The tour itself is well worth the money and the owners speak fluent English. Extremely informative, interesting and amusing. Definitely worth the trip. Left with a case of very nice wine and a smile on my face. Day well spent.

Well worth visiting.
Didn't cater enough for English speaking visitors.
But did look after us well as cyclists.
