I arrived at crowne plaze at 12 AM in the morning and had a very good and speedy check-in to my room, I was granted the upgrade to the club room for an extra 5 RO where the internet , breakfast and access to the club lounge is included. Nevertheless, I didnt find any open restaurant for dinner so I had to take a quick meal at the Duke's Bar which was not that good.

The room was good with two separate beds and a large closet, a safe , LCD screen that rotates so you can view it while you are in bed or while you are sitting near he window. Decorations in the room are a bit old and need to be renewed.

The location of the hotel is amazing on a cliff in the Qurum heights, it has a small private beach with a volleyball court. The swimming pool is open from 7 AM to 9PM, it is not so big but it is OK to relax. Taxis are available in front of hotel and it is close to the Souq, airport and rest of Muscat.

The hotel decorations are old and need to be renewed in order to cope with the rest of luxury hotels in Muscat. Food variety was not much in breakfast and lunch, it needs to be improved.

This was my third stay in Muscat, I used to stay at Intercontinental which is far much better and luxurious. However, the crowne plaza is still a nice place to stay.

Room Tip: Sea view club rooms are amazing

Many thanks for your review of our hotel.

We are in the final stages of renovating our rooms which will be completed by the beginning of October 2011. In order that our guests are not disrupted by the room refurbishments we are renovating floor by floor, this way we are able to continue to operate the hotel with no disruption to our services. You were allocated one of our club floor rooms. These rooms will be the final ones to be renovated, and we will commence by the middle of August 2011. The new rooms are modern and light in appearance and we have taken special care to use colours which reflect the character of the hotel setting.

Due to your late arrival at the hotel our 2 main A La Carte Restaurants, Come Prima and Shiraz were closed, they take final orders at 22.45. Tropicana, our Buffet Restaurant also closes at 23.00. We do offer late night menus for In Room Dining. Dukes does have longer opening hours as it is a casual pub offering light meals only. I have passed your comments onto our Executive Chef and would ask that you email us on Sales@cpmusat.com in order that we may understand more your comment regarding the food quality in Dukes and also the variety on our breakfast buffet.

We very much look forward to being able to welcome you back to the Crowne Plaza and to hearing from you by email so that we may take steps to improve, it is only with feedback that we are able to constantly improve.

Overall a good hotel with a super pool, its own small beach and pleasant staff. But the highlight had to be the amazing breakfast buffet - my kids want to go back again just for that!

This hotel is located on an excellent spot. It has a perfect view and a nice private beach. We enjoyed a 2 night stay in a club room. The lounge is small but nice and the snacks thoughout the day are delicious. Breakfast buffet was enormous as well as the dinner buffet. The seafood BBQ was a bit of a disappointment because they kept the fish/gamba's too long on the BBQ. We were in Muscat for a sports event and had to leave early in the morning. We had ordered an early breakfast in the room the night before. Unfortunately the breakfast did not arrive, not even after two phonecalls. We had to leave the hotel without breakfast and had to search for a breakfast somewhere else to avoid starting our sport event without having any food! Later we asked some of the staff members how come we did not get our breakfast but they seemed not to care. Although we had a good stay in this hotel we think this cannot happen in a nice 4 star hotel like Crowne Plaza Muscat

Many thanks for taking the time to write a review of The Crowne Plaza Muscat. Your feedback allows us to take measures in order to improve our service.

On a positive note I am delighted that overall you were happy with the hotel and your comments on our Club Lounge Food and Breakfast buffets have been passed onto our Executive Chef. He has also been passed your comments on the Seafood BBQ night. This is an extremely popular event at the hotel and your feedback can only assist us to make it an even more popular one.

With regards to the room service breakfast, I can only apologise for the non-delivery of your order, this in no way is our usual standard of service. Our Front office team communicated the problem to our Food and Beverage Manager on the day and he has already addressed this with his team.

I believe that you were staying in room 607 during your stay ? You will be happy to know that during the summer of 2011 we are undertaking a small renovation of the club lounge. It will be moved to a larger location, complete with balcony and a fantastic view of the Gulf of Oman.

I very much hope that when you return to Muscat in the future, you will stay with us again and experience the new location.

Once again, thank you for your comments and we look forward to welcoming you back to Muscat and to the Crowne Plaza very soon.

This hotel is OK in every sense: the rooms (clean with the appointments you would expect but somewhat tired), bathrooms which are clean but have oddly low ceilings; OK staff however a few in all front of house areas with training needs on service and professionalism.

The pool and dining areas are nice, but the food itself is OK - nothing special. There is a nice outdoor bar adjacent to a smart dining area which has a good menu. For some reason however, staff will not serve food in the bar (which has tables and chairs) therefore you must either sit in the more up-market restaurant or make do with the OK buffet. There is a pretty spectacular view over the sea and a small private beach area. If you like to run outdoors the corniche is great.

Unfortunately there are few business hotels in Muscat and the Interncontinental isn't much better. If you are lucky enough to visit Oman for leisure and can splash out somewhere special or visit the mountains, you will have more options.

Thank you for taking the time to comment on your stay with us in February 2011. We very much appreciate feedback as this gives us the opportunity to improve our hotel and our service.

I have noted your comment regarding our Front of House Teams and have passed this onto our Training Manager. If you would like to mail us directly on sales@cpmuscat.com we would be happy to take any additional feedback from you.

With regards to the service at the Pool Bar, we do offer a light snack menu at the bar and I apologise that you were not able to dine there during the day. Again I have passed your feedback onto our Food and Beverage Manager so that he may discuss this shortcoming with his team.

I very much hope that we will be able to welcome you back to the hotel and you are quite correct in your comment that the view from our gardens is perhaps the best in Muscat.

We stayed in a non-smoking standard room which was perfectly fine; the downside was the inadequate provision of bathroom replacements requiring regular telephone calls to reception which was somewhat tedious. However, we loved our stay and found it a useful base to travel beyond Muscat across the landscape and into the desert. The position of the hotel on the edge of a cliff was wonderful and the private beach below was a delight with only a few people occupying the area at any one time. Because it was very hot, and tiring after our travels, we tended to eat at the hotel in the Tropicana restaurant and occasionally on the balcony. Although we thought at the time the Tropicana was a tad expensive it was good value as the buffet cuisine (3 to 4 courses) was delicious (the creme brulee was gorgeous!). My daughter who lives in Saudi Arabia has a few days to spare so I have recommended the hotel to her as I would to anyone visiting Muscat.

Room Tip: Non-smoking Standard room was perfectly adequate.

After touring around Oman, spent last few days relaxing and soaking up the sun at this lovely hotel. It is very clean, friendly, has a great choise of food (several restaurant choices), nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff and the standard of the hotel was extremely high. Maybe the bedrooms could do with a little of a decor freshen up and the addition of a small sofa/couch in the rooms would be nice. Reception staff always on hand, housekeeping also very keen and helpful, buffet breakfast was incredible - anything and everything - always fresh and available no matter how late you ate. The A La Carte restauarant (known as the steak house) served good food but was a little pricey and the Dukes Bar has good coverage of sports on wide screen TV's as well as serving good down to earth food. Swimming pool was clean and well attended to and always plenty of beach towels. The private beach was nice - probably not enough sunbeds and shades but adequate. The sea is very still and is used by local fishermen and is extremely tidal. (On this note I wonder if anyone else who has stayed here recently has developed a skin allergy (blisters/bites/sores) that may have come from the sea or the sand? I would be interested to hear from you.) Otherwise I would recommned this hotel to anyone who has a few days to spare while in Muscat.

Many thanks for your kind review of our hotel. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us.

I have passed all of your comments onto our team.

With regards your reaction to the sand and the sea. This is a new comment for us and I have asked our recreation manager to investigate to see if he can establish any reason. However, it may have been a combination of the water, the sand and the unusually extremely hot weather that we have been experiencing of late.

Never the less, we look forward to welcoming you back to the Crowne Plaza soon
