We spent a long weekend break in Muscat at the Grand Hyatt over a national holiday. The hotel is great for holidaymakers, but it is pricey, both for the room and any food. We stayed with friends and checked in at the appointed hour of 3pm but were told that our room was not ready. After a bit of a song and a dance from the receptionist trying to get us to pay for an upgrade he said that he had found us a room, but unfortunately it was at the opposite end of the hotel to our friends, which was an inconvenience. The room was OK, but no different to other rooms in 4 or 5* hotels. We did not eat breakfast in the hotel as it was too expensive, preferring to go out to Starbucks which was on the beach road about 10 minutes drive away (lovely location - recommended). The Grand Hyatt is located in the Embassy district, and is a good drive out of the main centre, so if you want to be in the centre of the action this is not for you. We had a car so could drive, and as it was a dry weekend because of the holiday we did not mind driving. Taxis are reasonable, so you could get to the centre without spending a fortune. We did have a problem with noise in our room, but the hotel manager did look after us in this regard, so we would return, but would request a pool view room next time. Gym is well equipped, and open all reasonable hours. We wanted to eat in one of the on-site restaurants one evening, but it rained, and as the restaurant was outdoors we were unable to do so,so went off site to Trader Vics in the Intercontinental.
Car parking was good and close to our room (we overlooked the car park). Pool are is great and of a high standard.

Room Tip: Ask for pool view

We stayed at the Grand Hyatt for 5 nights for Eid and had a wonderful relaxing time. We stayed there last year and enjoyed it so much we decided to come again. We had a club room again facing the beach and it was wonderful. The rooms are spacious and the bed is very comfortable. I would recommend the club facilities as the food served in the evening is actually a buffet and you get complimentary cocktails from 6-8pm also the breakfast served there which is included is very good. Every night the buffet has a different theme and is very well presented and delicious. The only downside was that 2 nights out of our 5 there was no alcohol served in the lounge as it was Eid, so we missed out. The beach is lovely and you can walk for miles and the weather was perfect. The lawned area is very nice for sunbathing and is quieter as most of the children seem to be by the pool. The restaurant by the pool serves excellent food, if you feel hungry while you are sunbathing, so you don't need to go far, I would recommend the Nasi Goring. All the staff are very friendly and some even remembered us from last year, so they make you feel special. We would definitely stay here again as it is a great place to chill out.

Room Tip: Book a club room it is worth the cost for the extras included.

I understand the negative comments in some of the reviews and I would have liked free inernet access and better coffee in the rooms but overall this was a brilliant place to stay. We enjoyed the food enormously particulalry the eat as much as you like buffet for breakfast and evening meal. You can see the different dishes and try small portions to test what yu've not tried before. What we enjoyed the most though was the friendliness of the staff and the other guests. Everyone was prepred to smile and wish you a good morning. Beprepared for wine at 20 Riyals a bottle (about £40.00) which made meal times very expensive if you need a drink to make a meal and who doesn't!!

This Hotel which is in the middle of the prestigious neighborhood by the beach in Muscat will not disappoint. The moment you walk into the lobby, you can't help but to feel the richness. decorated in a mix of traditional Arabic and modern design the hotel offers a true 5 star experience. The check in process could be faster however staff are friendly. the way the rooms are situated it is a bit of a maze to get to the rooms, however I do find it as a unique quirk of the hotel. Rooms are large and well appointed and so are the bathrooms. The Pool area offers nice views to the beach which you can access to directly from the end of the pool area that if you want to get away from the large pool with its wet bar. Few restaurants are available at the hotel, there is abundance of variety so it will leave you confused what to eat (a little pricey though for what it is). Night life in the form of a bar with live Jazz music, a place called Safari club with its 3 levels one of which has a live band and a night club "Copa Cabana" note; generally there are not many nigh clubs in Muscat so to have 3 spots in 1 place is a major advantage. All and all I highly recommend this hotel if you are visiting Muscat.

Room Tip: higher floor Garden View rooms gives a view to the beautiful garden, pool area and the ocean

I visited Grand Hyatt while i were on a buisness trip in Muscat, The Hotel is very nice in architectural and decorations, you will enjoy having photos in each corner.
Staff were very freindly especially on the reception(Thanks Anwar)
The rooms were very spacious and comfortable.
Service was excellent.
Food is moderate ,i ouldn't find enough variety of items either in breakfast or lunch .
The location of the hotel is very near to the city center.
One problem i faced ,is the problem of mosquitos and flyes ,but i think it's Muscat problem ,not hotel problem.
Cost of food is high and unjustifiable.
