“Amazing hotel with super service”
Reviewed 28 December 2009

We stayed at the Hyatt for 6 nights during Christmas. The personel were sweet and very attentive. We stayed 3 persons in a double room, which was no problem, the room was spacious and nicely decorated. We had a fantastic view over the pool and the ocean.
Try, if possible to get a room on the 4th floor (top floor).
Broadband internet is availible at the room (not wireless), and is quite expensive. For 7 days we payed 75 OMR (appr. 135 €).
The hotel has 4 good restaurants, we tried 3 of them. Tuscany is named (as we heard from the personel at the Al Bustan Palace) "best restaurant in Oman" for many years in row.
Breakfast is served in the buffet reastaurant on the 1st floor, you can choose to dine both indoor and outdoor overlooking the garden and the pool area. The buffet restaurant also serves lunch and dinner, both are very good.

Anywhere we went at the hotel we were always met with great service and friendly staff, always providing that "little extra".
The hotel is not as grand as the Al Bustan Palace, although much sweeter staff and gives you more the feeling of being at home.
Local "sheiks" use the nice lobby area for business and coffea deals, rather than being over populated by tourists.

Hyatt is located at the beach, the water is clean - the sand/beach is not as delicate as you might imagine, but ok. Although be aware that it is not a private beach - that means bikini is not tolerated (use swimmingsuit).

Other locations nearby:
*Grand Mosque (10 min drive)
*Al Seeb airport (20 min drive, 7 OMR in taxi)
*Mutthra souk (10 min drive)
*Muscat old town (15 min drive)
*Shopping mall (15 min drive)

As Muscat has no clear city center, everything is spread along the coast from the airport to Al Bustan. We found Hyatt to be located closest to most of the places we wanted to visit.
If we were to visit Muscat again, this would definitley be the hotel of our choice.

Fantastic property, totally in keeping with the lofty standards of the Hyatt group.. Rooms were spacious and clean with a balcony.. The numerous swimming pools provide relief from the glaring heat of tihe sun.. Fantastic welll trained and extremely attentive staff.. Excellent breakfast spread and a good variety of options for meals although a tad bit overpriced..

Stayed 3 nights here had a great time. Lovely pool, sauna etc and the ambience within the hotel is nice at night. Breakfast was very good for vegeterians and extremely attentive. Kudos to the staff. Would recommend this hotel if your budget allows it.

A romantic and quiet hotel set on the Omani coast. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the hotel has a warm and welcoming feeling. The beach isn't that great as is a public beach but the pool area more than makes up for it.

The designers went a bit overboard with the gold in this hotel. It is very OTT and gaudy. Stained glass, tents, things that belong in a vegas hotel. We only stayed one night. The service was good, and the breakfast was excellent. The rooms clean and refurbished, but nothing to write home about.

I recently stayed here on a 3 day trip for business, my room was on the 1st floor very close to the dining area and the pool. I was delighted with the room, very spacious and very clean with it's own balcony. The food was very ggod, a rage of venues to eat with a variety to please all. Overall the Ultimate ostentatious accommodation, ornately decorated interiours offered luxury made my business trip very enjoyable.

Stayed here on 2 separate occasions as holiday makers rather than on business. Had rooms on ground and 3rd floor, 3rd floor was better with view of pool, but both had large and spotless bathrooms, and were well appointed. Pool area is great, and there is a nice green area above the beach if you want to get sun later during the day. The hotel is in the embassy district, we noticed lots of police presence including mounted police, and security staff at the hotel were around but unobtrusive.

There is a supermarket nearby within walking distance if you want to stock up on water, mixers, snacks etc rather than use the minibar which is really expensive. We particularly liked the John Barry bar - great terrace for evening cocktails, glass of wine etc. They do a wine buffet between sun and thur where you can drink what you want from a good selection of wines between 6-9pm for OR13, and even extended this for us when we asked them if we could carry on with food brought over from tuscany restaurant to eat in the bar. Tuscany restuarant was enjoyable, pizzas are massive, pasta portions ditto - we could not finish it.

Tried most of the facilities, all were excellent and the staff were really eager to please. They even remembered us on our second visit. Breakfast is extensive, had a chocolate fountain on the go!

You do need to get taxis to get to the muttrah souk, port area, and most other locations, which can be expensive.

Safari club a bit sleazy, loud music, gyrating band, dodgy looking geezers etc but was quite fun.

Expensive - but felt it was worth it.
