City Centre Hotel

Right next to the Muscat Airport on the Seeb area is this City Centre Hotel. Very spacious lobby, good rooms, neat and clean surroundings and very close to the CITY CENTRE SHOPPING MALL. Value for Money Hotel, with a decent breakfast. Heard they are expanding with alacarte menu and better room services with additional staff expected to join them very soon. Very friendly front desk and conceirge.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the highway.

I stayed here for 3 weeks on business in December 2012 and found the spacious room satisfactory. The included breakfast was OK, but consisted of coffee, cerals and an omlette. There were other choices.

It was impossible to get an evening meal.

The pool in the basement was not yet ready for use.

The shower flooded the bathroom every single time I used it because the drain pipe was too small for the volume of water.

The room safe box was a joke - and didn't work properly.

The wifi was free, but kept dropping out.

The Air Conditioning worked very well indeed.

The 1st floor corner room I was in suffered a lot from truck noise on the adjacent highway (50-60 feet away) but worst of all was the close proximity of the airport and the take offs and landings at all hours of the night, disturbing sleep patterns, as the flight path was very close to the hotel (you could count the wheel nuts on the landing gear).

On the positive side, there are several (3-4) nice eating places within walking distance, three of which are in or near-by the City Centre Mall that's a 5 minute walk away, one more just across the car park on the far side of that mall and the fish "market" restuarant that sells a superb array of fish dishes that's a 5 minute drive or 10 minute walk away also on the far side of the mall.

In the local mall there is a supermarket where you can buy anything you need, as well as clothes shops and fast food outlets (not included in the count above).

The hotel staff were always helpful and nothing was too much trouble.

There's a petrol (gas) station nearby, a tyre (tire) repair shop, and a couple of snack outlets as well as the ubiquetous McDonalds, so it is possible to stay in this hotel and survive by ringing the changes on your diet, providing you are prepared to spend some time discovering your local environment.

A car is essential.

Room Tip: Rooms away from the main highway are quieter. Higher rooms are also quieter.

Found this to be a modern hotel nearby the international airport and right next to a big shopping mall.. Rooms have all the comforts of a modern 4* hotel, good size, very comfortable bed, excellent and spacious shower. The free WiFi is useful, and also a good speed. Breakfast in the morning was good, although the buffet stations were missing some service utensils and the waiters weren't too on the ball. In terms of facilities, and convenience of location I would say very good. The service team have the feel they are still finding their feet, and need more experience however were helpful to try their best. Overall found the hotel fine for a brief stay.

Room Tip: If you are planning to sleep in ask for a room away from the loading dock side of the mall, a little...
