Great Hotel. The staff is very friendly, and contact by mail is good and makes you feel comfortable. The rooms are good, big bathrooms. The location is excellent, it is 5 minutes walking from the souqs, 5 minutes walking from the fishmarket (don't miss this one!), and also it is at the corniche with seaviews at some rooms. Could not imagine a better hotel in Muscat! I'm very positive about it. Breakfast is also very good.

Payment (cash only) at check-in means that, after you have seen the room, it is already too late to run away. Ants are raoming freely: the carpets have been cleaned last time when Sultan Qaboos was not yet in office; just one towel for two people (for n days, since the rooms are never made up during your stay). The muezzin seems to step into the room each morning at 4:30. The only positive is the location, at the beginning of the corniche.

Room Tip: Room 42 has a view (nice consolation)

It's a pity: this hotel could be very nice. The location in Muttrah is perfect and the building itself is not without charme. Unfortunately the management seems to be a miserable failure. It is dirty and the staff is not at all friendly and/or professional. The breakfast is 'a bad joke' and WiFi never heard of.

Room Tip: Choose a different hotel!

Okay, so it isn't super fancy but in Muttrah, what can you expect. The room is super clean and the bed was comfortable. The really should have a shower curtain and a television that works but it is fine. The Omani clerk who checked us in was sweet and awesome!!

Four things I look for in a hotel while on my student budget: affordability, safety, cleanliness, and customer service. The Naseem failed miserably on all these levels except for affordability. I would not recommend this hotel for the following reasons:

1 - The front desk manager took our US passports and refused to make photocopies of it. By US law, a passport is not supposed to be in the possession of any other person other than the named holder. Period.

2 - There was a trail of ants in my room and the bedsheets were dirty (with someone else's hair).

3 - The air conditioning was leaking and there was a sewage stench stemming from the bathroom.

4 - I was traveling with another female friend and despite our modest dress, we still got looks from the men who worked at the hotel and felt very uncomfortable.

As a female traveler, I did not feel comfortable at this hotel and switched to another hotel that was further away but safer. If possible, find another hotel in Muttrah or stay in another hotel for a good night's sleep, especially if you are a female.
