We returned !!! Two years after our first visit we returned to Camden Nook with our daughter and both of our sons - all over 18..

We arrived to a lovely welcome from Rosemary who looks after everyone so well.

I cannot recommend this villa highly enough. It is in an ideal location - situated close to restaurants, bars and a short drive from Holetown where there are more restaurants and a supermarket etc.. A rental car is needed. The interior has been well thought out and there is everything you could need. Obviously with having young people with us the wifi was invaluable !! There is no pool but you really don't need one as the wonderful, clear Caribbean Sea is on the doorstep.

It is on a secluded beach which never seems very busy except for the local fishermen. A few doors down is the John Moore bar where you can get a beer and have a natter with the locals. If you visit Barbados you must swim with the turtles - it is an amazing experience - If you bump into Rupert or Shabba on the beach they can arrange this for you.

Rosemary is a great cook and I can recommend the chicken roti's and garlic prawns.

We had a great week and we will be returning again. Massive thanks to Rosemary, Andrew (manager) and Nick (owner).

“Beautiful Location, wonderful villa which I highly recommend”
Reviewed 11 January 2015 for a stay in January 2015

Camden Nook is situated right on the beach in Reeds Bay, St James and the view is stunning. Access directly onto the beach. The sea is rocky just in front of the villa, great for snorkelling. We saw puffa fish, flat fish, vast array of reef fish, sea urchins, eels and more! My children spent many happy hours in there. Turning left on the beach is the fish market, very handy for buying the freshest fish you will ever eat! Turn right and you soon reach beautiful sandy bays perfect for swimming.

The villa inside is of a good standard and Rosemary the housekeeper (who is a lovely lady) keeps everything clean, beds made, fresh towels etc. Rosemary will even cook lunch if you require. Where the villa really excels though is the outdoor living space. There is a cosy, comfy seating area to snuggle up in and watch the sunset, a lovely eating area and then a sunbathing deck with 6 sun beds. The only thing missing was a plunge pool or small swimming pool.
Rosemary informed us that the owner has plans underway to install one. If they do- we will definitely be going back!

We had a few maintenance issues with the fan and air con but the manager was incredibly quick to arrange for an electrician to sort out the problem. Excellent service, we were very impressed.

We were there peak week so the villa was quite expensive, you also pay a premium for beach front but I am sure there are times of the year you could go and the bill would be great value for money.

I would not hesitate to recommend this villa. It really is a lovely place on a beautiful island. Paradise!

The villa is located in the perfect position, five minutes from Speightstown to the north and Holetown to the south. All the best restaurant's are within a twenty minute drive, The Cliff, the Lone Star, Daphne's and Tides. The Limes shopping centre in Holetown is only a 5 minute drive, this is also the same for the Supercentre supermarket which is situated opposite the Limes. The villa is situated on one of the best beaches in Barbados, it is quiet and unspoilt , we were able to swim with turtles just outside the villa gates !! We also had regular early morning visits from green monkeys running along the fence and through the garden.

Not forgetting to mention the villa comes with the best housekeeper and cook. Rosemary is a truly remarkable lady and made our family feel very much at home from day one.

All in all a perfect villa, you will not find another to match it at this price, we have tried!

We rented out Camden Nook for 2 weeks and it was the best experience! Me and my boyfriend like immersing ourselves in the culture rather than staying in resorts and this allowed us to do that! Whether we hoped on bus, walked down the beach or rented a car to get somewhere it was amazing! The villa was beatiful! Always clean, and of course Rosemary was always amazing and super helpful. We did excursions everyday and ate at some AMAZING restaurants, all I can say is that after 2 years I still dream of going back..which is why I am writing this review because I randomly found myself looking at the website...again...

Camden Nook ! What a place ! we had a fantastic time we swam and snorkelled on our own reef outside the villa from sunrise to sun set, the kids had the time of their lives just playing on the beach all day. The villa garden and deck area became our living room we sat out each evening and took in the tranquil sky's with the accompaniment of the the sea breaking on the beach at the bottom of the garden. We swam with the turtles and took jet skis along to Holetown. The local fishermen and inhabitants where very friendly and kind to us and helped us with making deals on the boat trips and jet ski hire with the local beach vendors. We bought fish from there local market and fruit from the stall next door all at very reasonable prices.
At evening times we sat out on the porch drinking Rosemary's rum punch, which is the best and we drank many bottles.
Rosemary is the house matron and she makes the best rum punch in Barbados she is a very kind and thoughtful women who made our stay most happy and memorable, she invited us into her family and into her church and we took her into our hearts, she made the most fantastic evening meals which would have cost a fortune in the restaurants further down the beach.
The house manager Andrew is a very kind man who give us much information on where to go and to eat and he made sure we had everything we wanted and that our stay most pleasant.
We married on the beach just out side the garden gate
Thank you to Nick and Celia for allowing us to sample paradise.
We will return soon

Stayed in this lovely villa February 2014,party of six adults ,previous holidays in hotels only .It was lovely, secure, clean ,everything to make your holiday perfect . Right on the beach great for snorkeling/swimming and lovely Sunsets. We have booked again for February 2015.
Rosemary's rum punch and rum cake were a hit with everyone .
Lots of places to eat out or just chill at the villa with the barbecue, glass of wine watching the sun go down.
In the unlikely event a problem occurs, Andrew is on hand to promptly sort it .
Thank's to Nick and Celia for sharing their lovely villa with us .

“Cosy Camden Nook”

Camden nook was a lovely relaxing villa for our holiday. Stunning beach and reef outside the back garden, cosy seats on the verandah (perfect for Rosemarys excellent rum punch!) and local fish markets and vegetable store nearby. We even saw baby turtles flock towards the ocean! Excellent location for exploring the island - you have to try the weat coast around Cattlewash Beach - beautiful! We had a problem with sandflies and mossies but we were there in wet season and not sure you can get away from then anywhere! Mossie coils work wonders. Rosemary was brilliant and very helpful lovely lady - Thank you we have a fantastic time!

Management Response
22 Sep 2013
I have just read your report on our house and I am sorry to hear you had a problem with the beach sand flies and mosquitos. I am aware this sometimes happens on the island when there is a lot of precipitation and humidity. It is not something that is particular to one area but effects the island as a whole. We have not experienced this problem whilst we have been there and I truly hope it did not spoil your vacation.
