If you want something different from the generic package hotels lining the Cyprus coast try Anthony's Harden House. It's part of the Agrotourism network which promotes the "real Cyprus". The rooms are comfortable if fairly basic but the highlight of the guesthouse is the lovely gardens. The breakfast is also very nice, and Anthony and his assistant are very helpful. There is access to a swimming pool area about a 5 minute walk away though the pool was closed for maintenance when we were there (alas, given 35 C). Anthony's is a good base for exploring the Troodos mountains or the Limassol area.
