We were only for two days at the Addo Palace and we loved it so much.
We were the only guests and had the whole garden for us alone. The landscape is beautiful there, you can view the mountains and relax at the nice pool there. It is a perfect place for hiking while watching some animals:) Besides, it is only about an half an hour drive away from the Addo Elephant Back Safari, where you can ride on elephants.

The staff at Addo palace was very friendly, they made a lovely breakfast and a really scrumptious dinner for us.

We felt really at home and enjoyed the wilderness.

Thank you for everything.
Many regards
Vera and Markus

This was a wonderful experience, the lodges are visually beautiful and the location is absolutely breathtaking. We really enjoyed our stay here, mostly because of the warmth and hospitality of Elaine, who looked after us really well and was quick to respond when we had any questions or things that needed solving. I would highly recommend this place as a base for discovering this magical part of the world. Thanks Elaine!

I will start with the fact that this lodge is definitly not a four star as graded and advertised.i have two small kids and phoned and asked if they have childrens facilities ie a camping cot which yhere was none,i wouldnt advice people with small kids to go there. the food is definitly below standard and the portions are enough for a todler. the staff are friendly but defonitly not qualified to liase with guests.Addo Palace will definitly have to make serious changes. I would like to know what qualiefies a lodge to be four star as we didnt even have a fan in the room nor was our bedding changed and sour orange juice and a half a cheese griller for breakfast is just not good enough espevially not for the tarrifs we paid. I think this lodge is a bad reflection on SA bush lodges as there were toursist there during our stay. I will not be recomending it the friends and family in the future. lastly its false advertisimg ad its not next to Addo game park as advertised.

1. Needs a proper chef, food is terrible and over prized breakfast is charged R90 for a half cheese griller one scramble egg toast and sour juice. Supper one piece of chicken rice and mixed veg R200.
The swimming pool is dirty and to small no umbrellas and garden furniture around the pool.
This place is maybe for hunters or student not a 4 star as advertise.
The advertise it next to Addo Elephant park false advertising it takes 40 minutes drive to Addo Elephant Park

We spent only a couple of nights at the lodge, but it was a wonderful experience. The location is breathtaking and we saw one of the best sunset of our life..
The personnel was very nice and helpful so we took the maximum advantage from our stay. Meals was very well prepared and served in a privileged and magic atmosphere.
We strongly recommend the place, even you should be prepared to drive on a good, but unpaved road, to reach this little paradise.

Simply an amazing place!! I stayed 5 nights there. You go to a remote valley (easy to get there, 14 kms from the main road) and you really feel that you're in Africa. It's in awesome valley where you have a great view of all the nature around you. Very nice decorated and with all commodities that you need. Very good food and really nice staff members. You must go!!

We stayed 3 nights at Addo Palace Nov 2013. Elaine, running the place, was very kind and always helpful and sharing. The place itself (we stayed in the main house) is rather noisy inside, could do with some more privacy. Very nicely decorated, but some things (eg bathroom) not really up to standard / a little more dated I would expect of a 4*. Food was very nice and lovingly prepared and served.
The location is stunning, yet rather remote (15km of dirt road to get there). The pool could do with a more inviting sunlounger area, that would give the place an extra positive factor.
All in all a very nice place around Addo, I would recommend it if your expectation is a nice B&B in a very quiet and beautiful spot.

Hi there Saskia.
Thank you for giving your version of your experience at Addo Palace.
Allow me to respond to your review:
Noisy Main Lodge: as it has wooden floors it will be difficult to be make sound-proof.
the privacy is the best we can offer - the doors can lock and the unit has a
door leading onto the patio (it was the honeymoon suite).
how do you keep 8+ other guests quiet?
Bathroom not really up to standard: please advise us on how we can "upgrade" it, as it has
everything that a guests need - a huge bathroom,
shower, jet bath, basin, toilet, hairdryer, 4 x towels,
shampoo, bath gel and body cream.
15 km dirt road: this is Africa and you wanted to experience Africa!
Pool: we are looking at doing something that will not spoil the view from the Lodges.
"Nice B&B": We do offer all meals on request, prior to arrival, as we are 100 km from the
closest city and prefer to give guests fresh meals.
May YOU be blessed and prosperous in everything you do.
