Priscilla and Noel Walton are the most wonderful hosts who go out of their way to make one feel at home. A tea tray and milk tart was served to us on arrival -such gracious hospitality is indeed rare today. As restaurants are quite far from this guesthouse, Priscilla offers a three course dinner to her guests as an extra. For us, this just added to the complete enjoyment of unwinding and relaxing. Her food is absolutely delicious. As much as we enjoy eating out at good restaurants, there is nothing that beats a really wonderful home-cooked meal. Priscilla has a flair for hospitality, and it shows in all that she does - the fresh flowers on the tables and in the rooms, the presentation of her meals, and her gracious engagement with all her guests. Home-baked rusks, and tea and coffee are set out in each room on beautifully laid trays, and drinking tea out of a fine bone china cup, just adds to the enjoyment. The beautiful shaded lush garden provides welcome protection from the scorching sun in the summer, and added to that, all the rooms are air-conditioned. The Walton's have different rooms to accommodate different pockets and groups. Would we return? Absolutely.
For people wanting a base to work from while visiting Addo, I highly recommend Lupus Den.
Just one word of advice: please follow Priscilla's directions on how to get to Lupus Den, and do NOT use Google maps/GPS to guide you. Somehow, Google have planted this guesthouse in the middle of the nearby township and despite Priscilla trying to remedy this with Google, she has not come right. We are going to try and lodge this with Google as well.

Room Tip: There are three rooms in the homestead and three out in the garden. We stayed in the homestead and f...

I cannot say enough about Priscilla and Noel and our wonderful 3 days at Lupus Den! Besides the fabulous rooms, beautiful old home, grounds , helpfulness in making suggestions and bookings for us, classy meals with a healthy touch ... etc, etc.... Priscilla was a thoroughly warm and kind woman who shared her time with us and made our time at Lupus Den so very special. I consider her a friend and sincerely suggested she visit us in Canada when she visited her son on her next visit. We would love to host them in return!

My group of 8 German friends, my wife and I had the most wonderful stay at Lupus Den. Noel and Priscilla Walton are wonderful hosts, paying attention to the finest detail. Luxurious accommodation, a property kept in immaculate condition and a wonderful three course home cooked dinner, as well as a sumptuous, appetising breakfast contributed to an unforgettable experience and stay. We will go back! Thank you ever so much.

Room Tip: All rooms offer very good value for money, but Kingfisher is the flagship apartment.

Our three night stay was fantastic. Great hosts, Priscilla and Noel, Both Priscilla and Noel made us feel as though we were visiting friends and not at a guest hourse. My room was extremely comfortable, with some guinea fowl in the courtyard outside. The meals were super. We had a great tour around the citrus farm and learnt there was a lot more than just planting a citrus tree, thanks to Noel for that one.

We stayed at Lupus Den in early February for three nights and had a most enjoyable stay. Priscilla was a charming and welcoming host, always eager to pass on information about the local area. The accommodation was extremely spacious and comfortable and the home cooked evening meals were a definite highlight. Lupus Den is the perfect place to stay when visiting Addo.

Room Tip: Kingfisher was extremely spacious with it's own patio.

We stayed at lupus Den the 4-6 th of March after travelling from Port Elizabeth we arrived to a very warm welcome from Priscilla and Noel. Our room was large and very comfortable with its own patio overlooking the garden. The whole house felt warm and welcoming and it felt like being a personal guest in a country house. The highlight was Priscilla's cooking we had lunch on the day we arrived, breakfasts and evening meals the next two nights all were excellent and homemade. Priscilla arranged our trips to Addo elephant park with a local guide and was very generous with her time and information. We had a wonderful stay and would definitely stay again. If you are looking for a quiet relaxing retreat following a hectic day sight seeing or travelling this is the place.
