Lovely location with a large deck overlooking the Sunday's river where the excellent breakfast were served. We only stayed 1 night to visit Scotia private game reserve in the evening and then Addo the next day which was perfect but wished we had had more time here to do a river cruise.
The room was clean, quite and nicely decorated. The only issue was when we arrived late morning there was no one on site and no security, we parked the car and wondered around inside calling out and it was about 15 minutes before a cleaner appeared.

We stayed there for just 2 nights Last week but it was really amazing, the room is very spacious and also very clean, we really liked the Airconditioning/heater and also the draftfree heating ( we also had electric blankets!). We made a Trip with Derek in Addo in his Land Rover for 8 hours, it was really interesting and also quite amusing ( Derek explained so many things and told a Lot of stories!). Derek is the sweetest person and his wife Edda is very helpful. We'd love to come back!

We enjoyed our stay at Dungbeetle River Lodge. The room was spacious and well appointed. We had a river view with a deck to sit on as the sun was going down. We loved the breakfasts but most of all we loved the hosts who went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable. Etta took us on a game drive in the Addo Elephant Park which really made our stay special.. She is very knowledgeable not only about the animals but the plants and birds and the history of Addo. It was one of the highlights of our trip.

What a nice hotel, well located for Addo or the private game reserves, this is worth a visit. The owners are very helpful and made us very welcome, plus there are options on trips to Addo too. If you have time take the river ferry cruise, fantastic bird watching with Les and for the fit a walk to the top of the dunes at the river mouth, ask at Dung beetle for details and prices! We also had the best steak of our trip at the local pub! Enjoy it it's a great base.

Etta and Derek are wonderful hosts and we would always go back there to spend our vacations in their lovely Guest House. The whole Team is welcoming and very friendly and the breakfast was very delicious.
Etta spent a perfect day with us in the Addo Elephant Park. She is a very good and knowledgeable nature guide and the day was interesting and we all learnt a lot - not only about animals, but plants, culture and history. And she is never giving up to look for more animals. Furthermore we enjoyed canoeing on the sunday river and walking around the impressive Dunes. We will definitely go back there....Thanks Etta and Derek and your Team.

Etta and Derek made our holiday the finest experience we have ever had. They went out of their way to make every moment magical. We only stayed three days with them, but if we had realised when we were making our plans, we would have arranged to stay much longer. My granddaughter and I are still laughing and joking about our experiences with lion, elephant and golden spiders, not to mention all the other animals we saw! We also have a special place in our hearts for Thombi and the chickens!

We stayed at Dungbeetle River Lodge for 14 days, a wonderful experience, very comfortable rooms, great to breakfast overlooking the Sunday river. Owners Etta & Derek were excellent hosts with delightfully friendly staff always on hand. Both Etta & Derek are very experienced and knowledgeable Game Rangers and their tailor made half day or full day Safaris are great value and a great experience. Addo Game Park is only ten minutes from the Lodge.
Very highly recommended.
