The Smithy is a great cottage, well catered for in terms of kitchenware, and things to do if the weather turns bad e.g: tv x3, game boards and if you have the right gear, a walk to Stow or Oddington is not that difficult (around 45 mins) or 10 mins in a car.
There is not a sound at night a little disconcerting having lived in London for quite a while. Something I could easily get used to.
Everyone that we have met in the village so far has been super friendly. Just passing by or at The Fox Inn (the only pub) you will surely get a hello from someone.
We have used the cottage more as a basecamp to explore the area more, having been to the Cotswolds a few times before. There are some farm access paths, but we have actually just been sticking to the roads.
You could walk to the Slaughters - a quintessential old-world village and this is only 1.5 hrs walk away, or drive within 15 mins.
There is quite a lot to do in the area from the Batsford Arboretum, Moreton-in-Marsh, Stow-on-the-Wold with great views all around.
We will be back!
