A calm and tranquil garden in a valley next to the temples. Cool and shady with lots of different citrus trees and ancient olives. The running water in the ancient irrigation system was very soothing.

We visited the garden in August. I think it is good that the local environment movement has build up again after it was neglected for so many years. I had expected some areas to sit down and rest under trees or near a pond with some flowers, but it is not like some other botanical gardens we had seen elsewhere. There were instead many citrus froot trees and to walk around was pretty hot in August.

After visiting the Valley of the Temples we stopped in here as it is on the same grounds. It is a worthwhile place to see. Seek it out as it is a little hard to find. There is a small admission fee. A pleasant walk down a hill along paths through native plants, vegetables, citrus and almond trees all around a small creek feeding the gardens. Signs, in Italian, explain the types of plants and their uses. It's based on the community garden which was common in Sicily at one time. Villagers used to farm and eat the produce from a community plot. Birds, butterflies and assorted bugs and small lizards accompany you as you walk. It was a nice finish to the day, a little cooler here for sure. It's just a pleasant walk, I believe there was a water fountain. Well worth it.

Not easy to find the entrance to this precious garden. But it is a must see. Laying in a creek a being taken care of by some enthusiasts teke an hour and walk through. See all the mediterranean plants and read from where these originally came from and who brought them to Sicilly. You will be surprised.
